Driving a Land Rover to North Wales… in this uncertain world there are two certainties in this scenario: the Landie will break down and the weather will be shite. It’s comforting that some things aren’t going to change.
SIMON..YOU ARE THE MAN..THE MYTH..THE LEGEND!! every guy out there wants to be like you....always smiling...bright happy alert and radiating such calm positive energy. I truly enjoy your videos. I hope miss Maggie is doing well. I know she's up in years but still a beautiful loving loyal girl. You have that style of walk of a true outdoorsman... long ground eating easy stride..even when your tired and very weary you still make it look effortless. THANK YOU...FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK AND ALL YOU DO TO BRING US ALONG.
What I love about Simon is he uses his head and hard work to have fun camping and canoeing instead of using a bunch of money to buy things. His ammo box stove was what first caught my attention to watching Simon and I’ve been hooked since! Dwayne from Mississippi says hello Simon!
What memories you brought back for me. Last time I was in North wales camping was 1976. Year of the heatwave, drought and forest fires. I was around the Capel Curig area, and all 6 of us got dysentery because a sheep died in the up stream part of the fresh water supply, SteriTabs did not quite protect us oddly enough ;) Then had to bug out because the fires were headed in our direction. Had a LWB Landy, with a bumper to bumper rack & a ladder beside the rear door. I could really relate to how this trip must have been for you! Nice video Simon, and thanks for it. Looking forward to the next part. Be well. ;o)
I’m sure that people think I’m weird but I love camping in stormy weather and Wales and the other Celtic nations are a favourite destination for me. So I really enjoyed this video! Nice Kadai firebowl too 😉
@@simonablokeinthewoods I've been part of scouting since I was 8, I'm now 48 and still involved. The highlight of my year is laying in my tent, early morning while the scouts are asleep, listening to the rain.
I went sleeping outside in a thunderstorm in my hooped bivy and it was amazing. One of my best nights outside. Only 25 km away they needed Tanks to remove the mass of trees off the street...
Just subscribed - This video is surely one of the best stories of 2 tight friends overnight in the country, minimalist, easy cuz of that pop-up tent is jim-dandy fun to raise and lower too, plus all the plug-ins of modern camping today - as it should be - fully affordable, mostly just flat-out partyin' hardy too, that's half the fun, refreshing as can be, with virtual ownership rights to all the most wondrous scenery you survey AND quality time unsurpassed. Billionaires cant enjoy themselves this much, I'd bet because happiness isn't bought as much as pursued and these guys have and show here THE best life offers - and like the rest of us, just don't know: "It don't get no better than this." Congratulations for winning it all, imho. I'm stayin' tuned.
I saw a video of a group of middle aged people camping in roof tents in South Africa .I was impressed, this tent though is fabulous. So easy to set up ,and looks like a cozy nook indeed.
Every time I see that Land Rover, I have it stripped apart in the shop. It's on the hoist, getting the panls repainted, and looking sharp...then I decide that it's a Land Rover, and if one makes it too pretty, then it won't be the same. Lovely video mate!
Great vid and love both you lunatics. Brings back many memories, not so much to do with camping but more with Land Rover mechanical difficulties in the inconvenient places. Happy days...
Once again a great adventure. Always like your choices of theme and background music. Hope you weren't limited to the front differential to get back home.
Alu cab make great product as too ARB. I ahad a landcruiser troopie set up with a pop top. Found in really bad weather it was more comfortable to sleep down below with roof down. Of course thats single camping. Love the landy too👍
Like your roof top tent you can your roof top tent when you and Andy are doing a great video together , you and your family take care and thanks for sharing a amazing video 👍🙂
Great! Camped here with my daughter before doing Tryfan North Ridge and Glyder Fawr. Similar weather, but makes for an unforgettable experience. Still love camping at age 66. Best Wishes!
Your roof top tent has a little more room the your favorite bivey. Part of the experience is the weather. You have the tools to meet them head on. Nice job. Skillet
I have a photo album of a Welsh camping trip labelled Wet, Windy, Wales but we had a great time. Your tent looks great and the food, yum. Thanks for sharing another good adventure.
Watching this and thinking I'm glad I had better weather for my drive up and back this week. It reminded me I was meant to pop into Alpikit in Betws too. I'm very lucky to be able to drive to Snowdonia for the day. Your roof tent looks great.
this is really great stuff. I'm probably watching it in reverse, but I love it anyway. Reminds me of my years living in UK, where I was fortunate enough to happen upon an amazing bunch who loved to camp, hike, ride, ski, etc. Just like I had been doing back at home in Australia all my life. 🙂
I love Land Rovers. Never driven one but they look so cool, like WW-2 North Africa. I have a Toyota 4x4 and it serves me well. Good job on the burgers. Enjoyed the video. Where I live in Georgia (USA) the Appalachian goes through part of my county. If you ever visit I know place with good beer.
Hi Simon and Jason, thanks for another interesting video guys, it was a bit damp but you were smiling, so all's good. The roof top tent stood up well in that wind, and packs away very nice. I hope the rear diff wasn't destroyed, and that you got home ok, cheers guys, stay safe, best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart UK.
@@simonablokeinthewoods hope the repair goes ok for you mate , and that your back on the road , and having new adventure 's soon . Kind regards, Stuart UK.
I also have the ALU CAB rooftop tent on my 110 which has endured some major cyclonic storms in West Australia. Great product and thanks for sharing your ideas.
Great video once again sir. That's beautiful, rugged terrain I like the additions to the Range Rover. The roof tent looks very well made. Have a great time.
Hi from Canada. I love Wales spent so much time there climbing and hiking. I just wonder if it would be possible to have actual camp sites like we have here all over Canada, firepits privacy e.c.t. I know there is land and space constraints but you would think maybe a farmer or land owner might consider it.
Have to say this is one of the most enjoyable videos I've watched, I really love that wagon setup, and you went all out with the filming, totally awesome video, this is the genre I really enjoy, bring on part two, nice one Simon.
Thanks for the nice video and glad that you had the weather. You were only 15 minutes from my house by the way and on my stomping ground. Really like your Land Rover set up with the tent, and everything else about it.
totally not jealous of that roof tent 😂 all the mod cons. great trip.. cant wait till part 2
I wonder where he got the idea from Andy 😀
We love your roof tent too Andy 😉
why didnt you go with them
And the bloody tomato ketchup Andy!
I blame you! 😆
Solar panel ooooohhh fancy
Thank you , Simon .

A bloody brilliant time! Thanks again Simon. Looking forward to connecting again one day.
Yeah, try and get Simon in Algonquin for some portaging. 🛶😇
Thanks mate! Definitely! It was great to meet you and share a little adventure! A paddle next time perhaps? 😉🛶
Ah, my favourite campsite in Snowdonia! Fond memories of preventing a tent from imploding in high winds - perfect Snowdonia weather too!
Beer in Cobdens?

Either that or the first brew by the campfire in the morning as the forest wakes up (I'm a very early riser)

The sound of that tent zip! Makes me want to dig out the tent again, such memories of early mornings and the day stretching ahead!
