The more I watch your videos, the more I ask myself...Where have you been all my life??!!! Lol! - I'm short torso and long legs, I've tried so many things and gives me a headache everytime I have to go shopping for clothes. You have answered so many questions I had but cannot wait for more videos about this topic, because very few people talk about the vertical scale. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!!! 🙏💖
Another fabulous video, Miranda. I love your presentation style, it’s so warm and friendly, not dictatorial at all. I’ve completed my homework, measured my body so I’m now going to work out my vertical line, I think I’m short waisted. I’m looking forward to some tips on how to create long legs, since I’ve never had any! Keep up the wonderful work xx
I agree with you, Miranda. Guidelines are here to help us but ultimately it is up to us to decide which one of those rules we want to break in the name of our personal taste. Thank you for the video. It was very informative.
Very informative, thank you! I'm pretty sure I'm short-waisted. It's so interesting that the "guidelines" for short-waisted here (v-necks, long tops) I agree look best on me, but they contrast with the "guidelines" for pear-shapes (which I also am) that include high-waisted jeans/pants, which don't look good on me because I'm short-waisted!
I hear this time and time again... and it can be tricky to navigate! I'll do more detail on this, but it will be a bit of trial and error I'm afraid... we are all so different...
Very informative material that You provide to us. I found that I'm a rectangular shape girl with a long torso, short legs. I'm a B cup bot My shoulders are strong that I can't wear shirts showing too mucho sking. Also I preferí to wear a modest and cute top, without locking too, much socially speaking
I am very much enjoying your videos. My eye keeps being drawn to the rail of gorgeous coloured dresses behind you! Could you provide some guidance on dress lengths if you are on the short side, for example, if you are say 5 ft 3 with a long torso, how best can you wear a maxi dress for daytime without looking swamped? X
Many experts use the top of the neck or chin level, rather than the top of the head, to determine vertical proportions, there is a huge difference in the results when using these two different measuring points. I think the chin level makes more sense.
Yes some do... I've used both methods over the years, and have found that it's best to include the head, as we see the head too! Your look and silhouette is from top to toe, so we have to take it all into consideration. Thanks for all your comments Kimberley! Xx
Thank you for all the work you put into these videos - I watch every one very closely!!!👏👌😍 I'm in proportion as my legs are exactly half my body length. However, my waist is very high leaving only 2-3 inches between my bust line and the waist, and my bust placed high, so my upper torso seems a bit squeezed, and giving me a larger area between my crotch and waist. I'm always struggling to balance this out! I'm 5,6 so a bit too tall for petite clothes😅 I'm an hourglass and always try to show my waist. But some days I just give in and wear one of those loose fitting dresses that just covers everything😐 I hope one of the future videos will help me find a solution🤞❤
Hi Miranda, I've discovered your channel last week, and I'm binging your contend, you are great!! I have a question to which I've never found the answer to: I'm 5'2 and definetly an hourglass, but with shorter legs. Problem is, I have a hideous low belly pooch that becomes SO evident with high rise pants.. I never know how to dress, especially because I tend to bloat as the day go, so I literally seem pregnant every evening :(
I am so sorry you feel this way! It can be tricky, particularly as women to dress for all our curvy bits! I've had a lot of videos from women requesting tips on how to dress for things like this, so please stay tuned, I will be making some in the future! xx
I can totally see why you are confused! Remember every body is totally unique and this method is simply a guideline to help you find what works for you... please keep in touch on here, and I've made a note to cover this in more detail in a future video.
Okay this may sound a bit off, but I have a long hip area. But I'm short waisted. I know this sounds strange. I have a hard time with high rise pants/jean's. Wear them on my hips, looks like my waist. Long from top of hip bone to wear my legs bend. Not sure what this means? I also have short legs. lol
It makes sense - you are talking about your rise specifically, not your torso - we are all made so different! Stay tuned as it’s something I’ll be covering in later videos
I don’t think an outfit can “be wrong” if the proportions aren’t ideal, I would just say it might be “less flattering” or “less than ideal” than another outfit would be. I don’t believe there are rights and wrongs, rules, or dos or don’ts in fashion styling, other than the guidelines each individual establishes for herself. I have a larger bust, for example, but I’m not going to follow the “show some cleavage to highlight the bust” rule, it’s just not my style. Women with very long legs, might want to accentuate that, rather than try to “balance their proportions”. Nor do I think women follow the “must define the waist” rule for every outfit. I do think it’s important to know our proportions to look our best, whether by measuring or not, but many women find this out through trial and error, by just assessing what makes them look and feel their best. You seem very kind and I’m sure don’t mean to be dictatorial, so I would avoid this kind of talk, there’s just too much of it out there.
I agree Kimberley! These are all just guidelines, based on my years of styling experience, to help you develop your own method to make the most of your personal style. I am usually the first one to rip up the fashion rule book - but it's good to start somewhere...:)

You are so welcome!
I am 5’9” and an hourglass. I have a short torso, long legs, and prefer high rise pants. If I wear a lower rise pant they tend to fall down. 🤷🏻♀️

Lots more to come!
If you’re short-waisted you automatically have longer legs!

Are the recommendations for an inverted triangle and a long torso opposites? I’ve felt that way, and wasn’t sure what to do.
