    Just for anybody's interest watching the video late:
    I have the same NCase setup and benchmarked the Asus STrix 1080ti cooler with the 120mm Vardar fans like Optimum did. The temps after 20 mins of Heaven 4 didn't climb higher than 70°C and at 1500 rpm fan speed.
    OT achieved 60°C max at the same RPM, note though that he had the temps corrected to a 20°C ambient, while in my summery hot flat were around 27°C while the test ran.
    That in mind, OT got about 3-4° less on the Accelero.
    Anyone planning on doing a cooler swap or getting a new 1080ti note that the cooler on the Strix is outstanding in performance and almost manages to get the same temps than this very good aftermarket product!

    Had that one on my GTX280 and 780. On the 280 i couldnt fit the vrm cooling fins that came with the heatsink back then, so i had to saw some pieces out of the stock cooler and fiddle them to the card. worked amazingly well and that card still works today. i put a very silent fan and OC profile right into the cards bios and never had to touch that setup again.
    on the gtx 780, i changed to watercooling after a while, but only to put the card in a smaller case. temps didnt really change that much. great cooler.

    I just built a Fractal R6 with Noctua 15D CPU and Morpheus II cooler using a single Noctua 12-15 slimline fan with low noise adapter positioned in the center of the heatsink and have gotten great results with it. Fortunately I have room to spare in this case. This combination is super quiet using the R6's fan hub to drive the case fans off the CPU connector and with the low noise adapters on both of the D15 fans.
    The Accelero III looks more complete, however the plastic shims looked a bit cheesy. I liked the all metal attachment on the Morpheus better, but the Morpheus II solution does look more bolted up than like a finished product and is definitely bulkier.
    I'm just happy that I can get this quality of cooling without messing with water cooling and I'm glad there are solid options for air cooling GPU's.

  • @ravicwannabe
    @ravicwannabe 6 років тому +82

    I don't think it's fair to say that the VRM temps are significantly better on the Accelero since you left the stock EVGA heat sinks on there for the Morpheus cooler. Whether or not it would have made a difference, I'm not sure, but you compared the heat sink of the Morpheus, not the included pads/heat sinks.
    Great video though. It's given me something to think about.
    Edited wording.
    P. S. This is still a wonderful video and the VRMs are perfectly fine on each card with both after market coolers. We appreciate you investing the time into the testing and comparisons. :)

    I've been running as Morpheus II on my Vega64 since 2017 and I gotta say, I'm really happy with the results.
    Using good paste (Kryonaut) and two Noctua NF-A14 fans the GPU never exceeds 60C even with a massive Powerplay Table overclock that can use up to 400W, i even used the silver backplate by zip tieing it to the PCB.
    The biggest problem as you said though is that it makes the card 3.5 slot, so I am having issues moving to an SFF case, so I've been thinking of building my own to fid the Morpheus because it's just so damn good.

    same here, running 30 degrees cooler on my rig with GTX 1080 then the stock cooler, and is pretty much silent. never throttles anymore since i have this cooler, it's perfect.
    With RDR2 on high settings it ran 82 degrees celsius and throttling back 250mhz to keep it at 82 degrees (fan speed 100%), with the Arctic Accellero Extreme it runs 50 degrees celsius and never clocks back at high-ultra settings (fan speed 50%). It's a beast, and it is silent. I use the back plate cooler, its much better, the fans blow on the chips and the pcb is cooled from the back, and it works perfectly.

    I was able to get my Accelero fans to 2170 rpm. I only have the twin fans instead of the triple fan layout. However, my GTX 970 SC Hits a max of 55c on full load with an overclock and overvoltage. Before, I had the EVGA ACX2.0 stock cooler and hit a wopping 70c on full load without overclocks. I can't wait to see if there's going to be a bigger difference when I upgrade my case for better airflow.

    I have tried Accelero IV and NZXT G12 on my Gigabyte Windforce 1080, i paired the G12 with an old H55 from Corsair.
    NZXT G12, H55 Corsair AIO, IPPC Industrial 3000rpm Noctua 120mm Fan (25 idle, 45 gaming)
    Easy to install, check AIO cooler compatibility, look for old Corsair or Thermaltake. in the downside you need 3 Fan headers for GPU G12 Fan, Pump and Radiator Fan. You need a fan splitter/hub and a pwm "mini" (conector of the GPU) cable to pwm to control all those fans from GPU software or you can connect them to all the Motherboard fan headers, also to find a place to place the GPU radiator in your case.
    Pros:
    Best cooling performance (25 idle, 45 gaming)
    You can choose 120mm, 140mm, 240mm, 280mm or even 360mm radiators (check compatibility in NZXT website)
    you can choose any fan
    Price is lower than an Artic Accelero considering and old 120mm radiator
    Cons:
    You will need PWM fan connector and a splitter/hub to control all your GPU fans from a single software
    Space needed for the radiator
    Lots of cables to manage
    Noctua industrial fan was very noisy, even at 1500rpm
    Artic Accelero Xtreme IV (28 idle, 55 gaming)
    I returned and i bought an Accelero IV, it looks cheap but hell the performance for an air cooled. Installation is somewhat complicated if you never done something similar before, also you need to test fit because instructions says that you need some washers but the GPU wasn´t making full contact with the heatsink. Also the backplate/heatsink is so heavy and bulky that may interfere with ram slots, making the GPU to sag, so be careful. The 3 fans come powered by a single "mini" pwm connector that you can plug it directly to your GPU and control them with any GPU software you use.
    Pros:
    Less cables
    Full fan control without needing additional hardware
    Performance similar to AIo cooling
    Very quiet fans
    Cons:
    Overall weight of you GPU
    Can cause your GPU to sag
    Heatsink and fans occupy 4 PCIE slots
    Backplate can interfere with your RAM sticks
    The reasons i choose Artic Accelero Xtreme IV:
    My need to clean my system often, so to take the GPU out it's only 2 thumb screws and PCIE lock with the G12 it was more work and more cleaning. The Artic fans can be detached without any screw, so you can clean them or even mod it.
    The other reason was to switch to an mini itx (Cougar QBX) case without sacrificing performance.
    The last one is a cleaner build for me, as the only “visible” cables are CPU, MOBO and GPU cables.

    I think the reason it was hot on push is because fans lose a lot of airflow being right up against the grille like on the bottom of the M1 and also negative case pressure generally works better for temps.

    Great Video! I always was interested in how the Accelero X III performs against the Morpheus II
    I own a Arctic Accelero Xtreme IV 280x Edition since 4 years. It has a special cold plate to best fit AMDs GPU from HD 7000 up to RX580 die's. But also works with smaller Geforce chips. It is currently mounted on a Zotac GTX 970 to replace the broken fans. And it works pretty well! The 970 is oc'ed by 175 MHz, power target is on max and the card reaches only 51°C in Final Fantasy 15.
    The Accelero Xtreme III and IV are my favorite GPU coolers. It blows everything out of the water in cooling and is basically noiseless and 100% silent in a insulated case.
    I love this Cooler :-D also for its pure and functional design. Nothing is so beautiful as a giant heatsink ;-) But you are right, the fan shroud looks pretty out dated.
    PS: TDP - Arctic is very conservative and carefully by stating the max TDP. If they say the Cooler has 300 Watts of cooling potential it has probably 350 Watts. Its a number you can rely on it!

    I have the Morpheus with 2x EK Vardar 3000RPM fans on an Auros GTX1080ti and easily the best cooling option for the VRM and memory is naked with airflow. Unless you shunt mod the card (which you wouldn't do on air anyway) the VRM stack on even a reference card isn't getting hot enough you need to do more than 2x120mm of airflow right above it. Drop a 120mm fan on a naked motherboard VRM and it will better than stock with a heatsink.

    Most of the air a fan moves comes from the tips of the blades, those 120mm fans were probably too wide for the fin stack of the heatsink as most of the air would be pushed around to sides rather than through the fins in the push configuration.

I got much better cooling on the 290x by just removing the card's stock fans an strapping on a couple Corsair SP 120 fans over the heat-sink than I ever did with the Accelero III. Yeah, it didn't look pretty, but it was a hell of a lot quieter and cooled much better.

    A job well done man but I'd love it more if you tried it in a bigger case with other fans working with it, we might see lower temps. On a second thought though it may be already obvious haha.
    I can only imagine what happens when Accelero would have a revision or when the Morpheus would have a 3rd fan slot.

    Been rocking this cooler in my M1 build for a while now. If you're trying to make your build quieter by lowering your rpm while keeping solid Temps, I definitely recommend doing this.
    Just make sure you know the limitations of your gpu warranty.

      How do you control fan speed? Can you adapt the speed depending on GPU temp through the motherboard?

    I put an Arctic Accelero III on my EVGA GTX 1070 SC. My temps went down about 15 degrees and its so damn quiet compared to EVGA's cooler.

    The difference in VRAM and VRAM temps when comparing this to the morpheus likely might have been due to using the stock fins/heatpipes on that EVGA 1080ti rather than installing the individual heatsinks for all the components that also come with the Morpheus.

    1:04 - not to mention the TIME it will take to acquire the fans and install them. Not a big deal for a "techie" (probably have them on hand) but could mean an odyssey of confusion and frustration for a noob like myself.

    Running the Accelero IV on my GTX 1080 FTW2. Have liquid metal on the GPU and it sits right about 45C when fully overclocked :)

    • @webdigo
      @webdigo 6 років тому +1

      FPSkillerPC liquid metal doesnt give that much better, compared to regular thermal paste. Also there is noise factor. I prefer higher temperatures at the benefit of dead silemt (500rpm) rather than a 1.500rpm just to cut down temperature further.

    • @FPSkillerPC
      @FPSkillerPC 6 років тому +3

      Webdigo the temperature difference between noctua nt-h1 and thermal grizzly liquid metal seems to be about 5-6C for me. That's substantial enough

    You, and I look fairly similar; Regardless, I put an Arctic Accelero Hybrid III 120 on a 1080ti FE back when they first came out. I've been quite pleased w/ the cooler; The included 120mm fan(s) for the radiator are inadequate, however I put Corsair ML 120s's sandwiching the radiator, and stay under 60c overclocked to around 2050+Mhz on the core, 6000Mhz for Memory; Point being, I like Arctic;

    • @caboose1289
      @caboose1289 5 років тому

      I bought a bunch of GTX 1080s that were mined with and the fans all failed so I got them for a great price. I put on the Accelero coolers and couldn't believe how cool and quiet they ran. I'd definitely recommend it if your case is big enough. You can also change out your thermal paste with some Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut and it'll drop the temps.

    Wondering how this would perform with the Zotac GTX 1080 Mini. Or whether it would even fit with the different PCB Layout. Considering buying the nCase M1, but concerned about thermals coming from an NZXT H200i.
    Great review!!

    IT would be cool to know, how the temps would be in a vertical orientation without Fans, just with airflow from Case Fans.
    Like in the sidearm t1, Ghost s1 and so on.

    Awesome video. I much prefer the aesthetic to be honest; I think it’s lovely. But then I remember cooling my gpus with passive copper heatsinks, and when all AMD cpus didn’t have heatspreaders. I much prefer clean, simple builds.
    I’ll take some shadows and white LEDs over the current Unicorn puke aesthetic any day. I’m not saying I’m against it, my next build will be filled with RGB, it’s just that I’ll be using soft white lighting with a colour accent.
    Anyway, this and a few other vids have inspired me to sub, thanks man.

    As I was watching you put the thermal adhesive on the PCB components and the adhesives on the cold plate, I was thinking, "Wow, after all of this, I hope he keeps it as-is." I also felt a little sorry for the 1080Ti with the number of times it's been disassembled. Serious question though: Have you noticed any changes with the CPU temps after flipping the fans down below? Also, do you expect to be able to keep this cooler setup when you swap to the Dan C4 (eventually)?
