    I saw one with 4800 operating hours, came in for its bi-weekly service. It needed a new piston and cylinder as the piston skirts were thinned out (no scoring, just mirror polished from so many hours of runtime) and compression was a bit low. In the end the cylinder was fine, no scoring also, and the mechanic only put in a new piston and rings, a new fuel pickup line, new air filter foam bushing and off it went. It definitely was taken care off and wasn't rattling about in the back of a van, but I was shocked at the number of hours and how well it ran. He said he rarely has big repairs on these except if they're dropped/ran over etc.

      Damn ..! That is impressive ! I was lead to believe saws where only good for about 1000-2000 hrs max

      @@hotpotatoz Well most people kill a top end by those hours because they don't do maintenance often enough and issues arise (bad fuel filter, gas-oil mix too lean for the work the saw does, air filter clogged up, bad tune, dirty/clogged cylinder fins, dull chain etc).
      He said he runs 33:1 oil mix with 5-10% ethanol gas, mostly motul 800 offroad and some european Echo/Kawasaki labeled synthetic 2 stroke here and there when he can't find the motul in stock. Seems like all the people in his little logging crew have long lasting saws.

    This is an absolutely fascinating video. And it just makes me wanna go out and buy one 😅.
    Also, the top tip about rest in the spark plug on the top of an injection saw is a golden nugget.

    That 500i certainly has done some work! Looked in really good condition considering so someone obviously looks after their stuff👍
    How's it going rebuilding a 262 from your big parts haul? Got some workshop videos coming up?

      @@walkerscountrylife Yea I totally does. I'm definitely putting a connector on the next climbing saw I build. I'd love to know how many starts and hours they are doing.

    And that’s not a ton of hours in all honesty 😂I’ve seen a lot over 10k hours and I’d love to see the hours on some of the 046s 066s 372s 390s I know guys with no exaggeration millions of board feet on a 390 and I wish we could pull stats like that

    • @walkerscountrylife
      @walkerscountrylife  7 місяців тому

      Yeah it's only 4 years old. Imagine what some 372's or 044/046 have done at 20/30 years old

      I wonder how many hours those old saws actually ran for. A lot of guys will over estimate the the run time of their saws, when they plug it in the actual run time according to the computer is only a fraction of their estimates.

      @@walkerscountrylife I’d love to see what a 266 SE is at, I’ve seen ones that have gone through 4-5 sets of bearings 2-3 top ends and have ran for years

    11k pulls...........

    • @em4703
      @em4703 7 місяців тому +1

      That's pretty crazy for 400 something hours of run time. I saw one with ~4800 h and it had a bit over 25k pulls from what I remember. I guess the owner in the vid shuts it off often while the one I saw just lets the saw idle while moving around.

    • @Sethhaun78
      @Sethhaun78 7 місяців тому +1

      462 is best 70cc saw or mid size saw for daily tree work ..beats the 500i for this purpose...the 500i is better in torque for super super large wood..however 462 will do it to..my go to saw for any daily tree work.i like the 500i for qaurter ing rounds or large wood .it eats gas in seconds and sounds like it's guna blow ..unless your dogged into big wood 30inches or much bigger.afyer about 15 or more tanks 500i will start wake up..on all stihl pro saws rear handle they need bark box and more important the oil air filters..it's crucial for them to run properly and keep junk out..and tapping the oilers out with a punch..also the suspension kit from Westcoast saw is a must running long bars 24 and up..36..they both handle 36 no issues..and ported even better . My 2511t s plural stock and ported both do 70 percent of daily tree work with one hand ..other to grab brush with..best saw ok the planet is modified 2511t period ..built a business with it...minus the last 20ft feet of trunk depending on the size tree it usually does it all..the 400 462 500i are the lightest saws for pro work daily ..they just are and no tuning...there just best all around tree service saws. Sure there's other brands but those 3or 4 pounds add up..trust me..wouldn't run a regular bar unless I had to..lightest is best ...😅😢
