Oh Boy! I love the honesty, the fact that I can see another person of color doing it, makes me feel happy. Planning to give it a try next year. Watching all the videos to get an idea of what to expect. Great job on the video BTW enjoyable.

A great film of a great trip, as someone else has said one of the best I've seen.
This brought back a few memories, I walked this with a good friend 29 years ago, as a young man of 33. Unfortunatly, my good friend passed away a few years ago due to Cancer, and I plan to walk this again next year, in his memory.

There is so much I love about this video! Thank you so much for sharing this! I love your eye for cinematic (example the shot through the grass or leaves and flowers or you walking off with all the little bugs (or fairies) flying behind you) it really makes the viewer feel the majesticness of this experience. I also really appreciate it around 29 minute mark when you were just sitting on the ground drinking your coffee, it really gives us, that feeling of the simplicity that you will need to adopt to be able to do something like this. Well done on your journey cowboy!! And thank you for fuelling that fire in me to do the same 🎉

I did a number of ‘very’ short walks in comparison and just thought one morning…. Just do it ….. so I did! It was the covid lockdown. Non lockdown phase so I was very lucky really with regards to spots to camp and b &b retreats on route. I would suggest planning a little more than I did. But my advice remains the same. Sometimes you just don’t need to think about it. Just get it done.

I always take a map of some sort and compass. They never go wrong! I also use modern day navigation through my Earthmate app and garmin unit. The signs are about but very scarce in places as the route, whilst recognised is not an official route. Also when you get to the nine standards. That's a nice video you've put together and I loved your inspiration get it done comment at the end. I've done the C2C but it was 1992 and so this year is the 30th anniversary. So I'm considering it. I had a get it done adventure on the Spanish camino Frances, I'd had the guide book for three years and I suddenly thought, if I'm going to do it, best get off this sofa and fly out there. So I did. Hi Jennifer Falagrady-Katona: Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I’m glad you liked the content. Good luck with your walk. I hope the weather is as good for you as it was for me. To answer your questions. Loft beck is really steep. In my view the worst climb out of the lot. Even though it’s not the longest climb. I was carrying too much weight at the time. So if you aren’t camping it might be a little easier on the joints. Green up edge, although a long climb up is well marked out path wise as I recall. It just takes time, which as a newbie to the C2C I didn’t take into consideration time wise. The climb out of patterdale is best done first thing when your energy is high. The reward is the Tarn at the top! And a great vista.

@@thecowboycamper1195 Thank you so much!! Really appreciate the tips. I suspected that loft beck would be difficult. I reckon that it is partly due to the fact it is about 9 miles into the day's journey and secondly it is a rocky beck which is just a slog. I don't know how you did it with a full pack, super strength :). I have looked to limit myself to less than 15lbs, looking more like 12 max for the essentials of mostly water, some clothes for the changing weather and a little food. My itinerary is not as aggressive as yours, but there is little I can due about some of the distances, so I will make sure I start early on the loft beck day and especially on the Kidsty Pike day. I also suspected it takes longer to get through some of these stages than we plan for. I will be staying in Grasmere as I suspect that even though Rosthwaite to Grasmere is about 9 miles it will be a tough 9 miles. I have baked in several rest days because I am not as young as you and have also considered the impact to the joints. Thank you again for all of your advice, I had to put this off in 2020 and again in 2021 both due to Covid, so ready to go this year but also being mindful to take all the advice I can get. Good luck on your next adventures and your video was really superb!

To save weight with regards to water I took a sawyer mini water filter and a reusable water bottle. There are plenty of fresh water streams on the walk except for the bit just after Orton so beware! A good compromise is the katadyn be free water filter. I have just purchased one for my next long distance walk but I haven’t used it yet but the reviews on it are really good. The most important thing though is to enjoy the experience. You seemed to really enjoy the walk and complete it fairly easily. Did you use a map and compass or online maps my friend ? Because Im considering walking the C to C and wouldnt be able to use a compass so would rely on purely a map. You did well not to get lost either as many people have done and then it just adds miles to your day.
Only unpleasant part was when the angry landowner woke you and other C to C walkers up at midnight and made you all camp somewhere else. Totally unnecessary behaviour from them. No human kindness Im sorry to say.
Other than that it looked a great walk and you clearly had a great time. Cheers for the video.

Thankyou for the tips on the walk too. They really come in handy having tips from you and other C to C walkers. Obviously it was slightly harder when you did the walk as Covid Lockdown meant lots of places were closed down. Would you consider doing the walk again as I presume that it would be an even better experience with everywhere open.

Andrew Smith: Thank you so much for watching and your kind comments. Yes I really enjoyed the experience. Especially as it was my first real solo long distance walk. I’ve got the bug now! I used the A to Z coast to coast map book which basically has the route marked out for you. I also used the cicerone books. As a back up I plotted the route on the Earth mate app linked to my Garmin in reach mini. So I was fairly well set. Regarding the late night wake up call….. it was that odd time between lock down and not lock down so I suppose I could see the reasoning behind the eviction. Just could have timed it better! I’ve been assured that it’s not always like that on the route. So don’t worry too much. Enjoy the walk if you do it. But pick a good weather window.

Andrew Smith: I would definitely consider doing it again. When I did it. I came across a number of 2nd , 3rd and fourth time arounders. I have a few more walks to do though before I do that one again.

@@thecowboycamper1195 Thankyou for your reply. You were also very brave doing the C2C as a first time long walk alone. Lots of other people go in groups so going solo is more brave as a first time long distance walk.I appreciate the tip I will definitely bring a good map. Possibly the Wainwrights Map. Definitely not a Compass as I cant understand them. I watched your other video Lickey Hills. I live near them and I have walked on the Lickey Hills and Waseley Hills many times. Have you heard of The North Worcestershire Path ? I have walked it many times. Its a mere 46 miles I believe. From near the Lickey Hills over Waseley Hills then over Clent Hills through Hagley and through Kinver and finished in Bewdley. Very picturesque indeed. Fully signposted too !!!

@@thecowboycamper1195 To come across people who have walked the C2C multiple times shows what an enjoyable experience it is. The Cleveland Way is a good walk so I hear. Well signposted and 109 miles.
