    The adjust-to- for system is the best and most comfortable tool bags you'll ever buy. Metal stud framer and drywall installer here since 2000 this bags last a long time and much lighter than leather ones. I have the same set of bags and also the adjust-to- fit fat lips highly recommended pricey but your hips will thank you...

      where you have your utility knife is where I put a topedo level. the place where you have the vix bit is where I keep a mechanical pencil and a marker. behind it goes a utility knife.

    I just started using some Occidental bags as well, and I regret not buying them 5 years ago. I would have saved myself $150 in disposable Chinese bags, and would have actually been happy with my setup from the beginning.

    Good video. I use the Occidental , hammer loop and suspenders on my leather bags and they're great.

    I just ordered a new set today . I got 10 years out of my last set and the only reason it's worn out is from catching it on rebar sticking out of the footings .

    Over 4 years later.... anything you dislike about this setup? Anything you would change? I like these bags a lot but am trying to decide between these and Diamondback. They both have pros and cons and the people who own each seem to really like what they have.

      Old Main Line I still love this belt and use it all day everyday. Paired with the suspenders it feels like part of me. The only thing I don’t like is how much the suspenders stink in the summer with all the sweat. Not sure how they could fix that though.

      Matt Hunter cool deal, thanks man. I’m really torn between the Oxylights and Diamondback’s Grrande. What I like most about the Diamondback is the hammer sleeve. I am considering adapting the hammer sleeve to the Oxylights. Ive looked around the web and haven’t seen anyone else who has done it so maybe Ill be the first. Thanks again for the response.

      Maverick GQ - FL are deeper by 2" and opening is wider by 1". They also have two oxy shields and small phone in the tool pouch. The bags are wider worn on the hip (foot print) and longer on the leg! Your choice, I prefer smaller overall. I have the b5080dblh set with hip buddies, suspenders and high back hammer holder. Perfect setup for me and easier when passing through tight areas. Small pouches means lighter rig and less backaches at days end.

      Maverick GQ - good choice, you won't regret it. Mine are not ATF and are all leather but basically the same. Only difference is that the tape holder is on the tool bag side... quite a pain for production carpentry.
      Just make sure that you protect the chisel sleeve if carry one. Material belts don't like sharp edges too much. Also, don't look like the guy in the video, adjust the belt properly and make sure the belt buckle is closer to your left hip bone when cinched and not centered. It's intended to be worn like so. That way, your ATF set up will be fitted correctly on your hips, will wear properly and will be much more comfortable. Did you get the suspenders with the rig?

    Been thinking about getting a pouch, my dewalt nylon one lasted me 2 months. Working outdoors in the winter time doing Formwork just tears nylon apart.
    I was looking at the seven bag framed pouch, and think that would be the best choice for me. The issue is that I’d have to order it online and I find pouches are very personal, you have to try on a few to find the perfect one.
    I see you use the harness, think it’s a must have or could I get away with just the belt?

    • @matthunter9777
      @matthunter9777  6 років тому

      begley09 Depends on the person I think. If you use other belts without suspenders then I’d say you’d be able to go without with this one. I would try it without first. They aren’t cheap. But the best never is. The only thing I don’t like about the suspenders is wearing them in the summer. Makes me sweat a lot and they really start to stink after a while.

    Why do American carpenters carry so much non carpenter related shit in their nailbag? Australian carpenters only need to carry carpenter related tools ie : hammer , chisels , tape measure , folding rule , pencil , nail punches , pincers and Nails ( or screws ) ........Beats me why you all carry around items for jobs that may be not used everyday all of the time like some kind of packhorse !

    • @cabbyhubby
      @cabbyhubby 8 років тому +3

      I'd say he is packing pretty light. I don't see any unnecessary tools in his pouch. I have seen a lot of rookies carry around too much junk, but most older fellas want as little as possible in their pouch.

      I'm on a pickup crew right now and lemme tell you I have a LOT of stuff in my bags that I use almost daily. I catcher guys without things running back to their truck to get them constantly and I'll only have to go back to the truck occasionally for maybe 1 thing tops. Pack what you need and save time on trips. One thing I carry a lot is linesman pliers. They work GREAT for snipping nail ends on top plates when guys get shiners and leave them and when you're replacing studs. Generally whenever you have no access to the head. Already have to carry a nail gun and circ saw, don't want to have to carry a Sawzall too. Yeah it's weight, but I hate walking more than I have to especially on a 50 lot project.

      Well , we build houses out of timber everyday and I have never needed electricians pliers to cut nails !!
      Never !!
      A cats paw prybar can pull out any nail and a curved jaw claw hammer gets everything else !
      Cutting timber is always done systematically in multiples in one position so as to be effective and productive .
      No carpenter worth his salt walks around loaded like an " Inspector Gadget " cartoon character !!
