    But I guess it's necessary to get a better workout

      The number doesn't matter. If you get up from your perfect form push ups and you feel your chest, triceps and back...like you want to start shadow boxing, that's much better than bouncing up and down and only feel it in your shoulders.

      Desert Nymph Congrates, I can do about 18 in a row before having to wait 60 seconds for another set. but my stance was always super wide, turns out I was making that mistake and fixing it, it's really hard to do the pushups now. But glad I know all this because now I can work on my chest and core more while doing pushups, which in turn will help me with my other goal, doing a handstand

    • @bballbryson2015

    Video summary for reference :
    1. Keep posture straight. Go full range of motion : chest should touch the floor while going down and while going up, go slightly higher than you initially were in rest position
    2. Keep your elbows tucked in while doing push ups.
    3. Keep your spine straight.
    4. Breathe in through your nose while going down and exhale while going up.
    5. Don't go too fast. Only go fast if you can maintain the full range of motion
    6. If you can't do a full set of bodyweight pushup start with knee push up. Don't bend at your waist while doing knee push up.

    • @robertofreestylefitness2724
      @robertofreestylefitness2724 7 років тому +52

      "Lightspeed" pushups can be great for strength if done correctly (full ROM and good technique). It is called "BILBO SET" (here in Spain "serie bilbo"), and you do the fisrt set at maximum speed to technical failure. The goal is to apply the maximum force in the less time possible, and over time you can do more reps in less time, meaning you gained maximum strength. This "Bilbo set" is only for the first set, the rest of the training is a regular one. This is the method of the best bench press powerlifter of Spain, Jesus Varela. In my opinion and experience, it is a great way to get stronger with bodyweight training like push ups or dips. Keep the good work!

    The 4th mistake is my biggest gripe with PT test. You do a 2 minute (or whatever it is for other branches) push-up test to see how many you can do in a set time and end up with almost everyone (myself included sometimes) doing the mistakes you’re talking about. I always thought just having a form and number standard should be good enough.

    • @allthesesnitches4465
      @allthesesnitches4465 7 років тому +1

      Soccercrazyigboman
      I'm nit him but I'll still answer you.
      As your goal propably is to build muscle you need to make the push ups really hard. You should not be able to do more than 12 proper form reps. If you can do more you don' t stimulate your muscles enaugh to let them grow. So in this case use a backpack and fill it with some weights.
      As you break down your muscles during training you need to give them 2-3 days to recover. If you don't do this you overtrain.
      I think Jeff Cavaliere might help you out on this as he has a wide range on fitness videos including themes such as overtraining, proper sports nutrition and so on.

    Ok I have 2 questions...
    1. Are you pushing the earth down or pushing up yourself?
    2. Is it necessary to be in the Super Saiyan phase? If so, with the phase ssj1 already worth? Or is it better ssj2?
    Thank you.

    • @alexalexandrov2013
      @alexalexandrov2013 7 років тому +67

      You push the world down, and you are ascending past super saiyan level 2. You lose your eyebrows, you start to become extraordinary strong and fast, but you begin to lose your energy faster. Soon you turn super saiyan 2, then 1, then you turn back to normal. In the mean time you see pictures of great apes in your head. That is after you do push ups till fatigue my friend. Now go out there and do it. Go on transform and show us your true power. If you are lucky enough one day after too much squats, you will grow a tail and you will be able to ascent to super saiyan level 4. But remember you need to look at the moon. And if you want to become a super saiyan god, you need to do pull ups till you reach god. Good luck

    They used to gig us in basic for not keeping our faces up. If we had our head down (bobbing up and down) our reps didn't count. It's still a pet peeve with me to this day. 82 push-ups in 2 min. was hard enough without them repeating the same number till you either got your head up or you got your back straight.
    They also went back and forth about either having our elbows break a °90 or having a guy hold his fist under our chest (we didn't go all the way to the ground). The old school guys insisted the fist standard was the right standard, but breaking a °90 was the same for everyone regardless of their arm length.
    I'm in my 40's now and I'm lucky to crank out 30, but my chin is up and my back is straight. Great video! I think you've got a new subscriber. 👍

      Frederic Parent ignore those people saying he skips leg day, either they're joking or they are retarded. Some people simply cannot get big calves, genetics play a significant role. Besides, calves won't usually grow a lot, look at Usain bolt for eg. Fast af, he trains his legs all the time but they aren't jacked, they are barely any bigger than some people like Scott who supposedly have 'stick legs'

    • @mmmbbq30
      @mmmbbq30 7 років тому +12

      work your calves differently, harder and like any others muscles they will grow even if you have bad genetic... you need to work more I was a sticky legs guy, i know what I'm talking about !!!

    • @SniperKing261
      @SniperKing261 7 років тому +12

      His legs are fine. Yes you can still build your calves even with bad genetics, but obviously your arms are most likely going to be bigger than your calves because you use your arms in literally almost any upper body workout.

    Two things which are (in fact) WRONG:
    1. No need to keep your elbows tight - It just depends on what you are focusing on. Tight = more focus to triceps and inner parts of M. Pectoralis major (chest muscle). Wide = more focus on shoulders (Deltoideus, frontal part) and M. Pectoralis maj. outer parts.
    2. He says "do a push up in full range of motion to train M. Serratus anterior" - if your shoulders are already protracted (moved to the front) like on 90% of all lifting guys, you probably should NOT train your M. Serratus anterior because this muscle actually sustains or even increases this shoulder position. Better focus on keeping your scapula (shoulder blade) near to the spine throughout the whole exercise.

    • @buddharmt

      I disagree with the don’t train your serratus anterior. Keep it strong but balance the strength in your back properly and stretch the pecs and serratus to unroll the shoulders. Other than that I completely concur with your assessment

    • @jojojlc7070
      @jojojlc7070 6 років тому +2

      No, the elbows should be kept close to the torso. If you want to focus on the deltoids simply place the hands back into what is almost like a pseudo planche pushup.
      Depending on the muscles you want to focus on you change your hand placements relative to your body.

    • @buddharmt
      @buddharmt 6 років тому +5

      Joshua Chhakchhuak the tighter you keep your elbows the less pec major activation. The movement becomes primarily anterior deltoid and triceps. That’s why neutral elbows is ideal. Works delts, pecs and triceps more evenly.
      Nothing wrong with pulling you elbows tight but it’s no the “perfect” form by any means
