I don’t do push ups that way. We were taught to look straight forward in the military. I mean we had inspectors during physical fitness tests failing or passing us. I guess at the end of the day as long as you go all the way down 😂
I use handles as it hurts my wrists when i do them with my hands flat on the floor. I have the back of my hands facing outwards and keep my elbows in as my shoulders are bad.
I’ve reduced from advanced stage two obesity to the upper scale of being overweight. That said, full push ups are still essentially impossible, but I’m up to two 25 sets of half planks daily. I’m getting there!
Im pretty big and have been for most of my life. Making a change in my habits has been hard, but the gradual process has started to take root in my mind for making better decisions when it comes to food choice and activity levels. Im here to impress myself. I want to make myself look like the person I feel like on the inside and doing a proper push-up is just another step on the long road to being a healthier person. Thank you for sharing your technique.
Hello for anyone that want to get a bigger chest, I mean men chest mainly, don't lock out at the top of the pushups. Unless you prefer to target the triceps, those muscle you hold to stabilize at the top, lockout, you build triceps. So before you lockout at the top, slightly bend at elbow and back down you go, back up and slight bend at the elbow at the top, continue for how many reps. This will build that chest. There other method but we are talking about bodyweight, this is it. Can use gymnastics rings as well, but that is another topic.
I never ever did a push-up let me say , even though I’m a weight lifter ( started 1 year ago ). It felt agonizing that I couldn’t do even one push up , but now I get what the problem was 😭. I always thought I needed to push my body and my head down along with my arms. After seeing this video thoroughly I realized , oh he wasn’t pushing his body down, he was pushing forward!! That’s why his arms went like this , bro I almost lost hope and thought I’m just a loser who couldn’t even do 1 push-up after a year in the weight lifting major ( I know it’s weight focused but like cmon one push-up?!) now I feel relieved even though my form is still a bit off but like this is a start!! At least it could be called an almost push-up. Bless you and striving for the better!❤
@@7kidvid I'd add farmer's walks, for me the best exercise for functional strength for the whole body- just walking around carrying heavy dumbbells, I go from 30 seconds to 2 minutes, most trainers on youtube recommend about a minute.
Always nice to watch a refresher for proper form in order to reduce any risk of injuries. Haven't done pushup in years and once I got back into it, it's like the muscle memory kicks in without even thinking about it too hard.
Thanks for the info! you explained this better than any of the other videos I'v watched. I'm working on improving pushups before taking a military fitness test.
Push ups are such a great repatterning exercise! I really want to synchronize the movement of the chest and back when doing this exercise to create a better balance with any exercise I do. You give such a great description of everything involved in performing the perfect pushup! I'm now feeling much more stable when doing pushups.
Thanks for the break down! As for me I wanted to know as I'm trying to mix some exercise into my gaming sessions for my health as I really don't get enough activity in a day and hope that I'll also start feeling more energetic overall. Right now my goal is just to do 5-10 every 30 minutes of gaming or after 2 losses in a row and will start doing more at a time as my out of shape butt gets use to them. Also plan to work in some other exercises too as time goes on.
Iifegoals: I want to be able to do those weird push up flip n get off the floor thingy you do. Right now I'm an out of shape mommy who can barely do 1 push up. You're an inspiration! I will try
To answer your question: it’s really silly, but not only to I want to have the upper body strength and big arms, I also want to show up gymbros at parties. Thanks for the great video.
I.... I've just learnt that your arms are supposed to go back when you do a push up, not to the side... So, it seems I've figured out why it was always so difficult.

I'm here out of curiosity and to learn something but I'm pretty happy with my current weight and fit. It was my original natural growing up weight, I was filled out and curvy. I lost it through a bad spot in life not eating enough, overworking, and throwing up because of stress and pressure. Things did get better and I looked good skinny but I still didnt feel healthy, not enough sleep and no appropriate eating routine. So I changed that and now I feel healthy and back to my normal weight. Even so I am curious to see new methods and what not for casual workouts like stretches. I prefer more relaxed exercises which this channel as plenty of.
Thank you. I’ve been able to do a push-up for a while, but my wrists would hurt afterwards. After watching and trying alongside your demonstration, I think i was starting my wrist behind my shoulder.
I've been rotating between push ups/dumbbell exercises and squats/crunches to keep my cool after every round of Halo and playing Halo to give myself the motivation to work out (though it would probably work for most shooters not including battle royales). I've been doing it for over half a year now and wish I started earlier because I feel great. That said, I've also been doing push ups wrong for over half a year. No more bendy forearms and looking ahead for me.
I’m doing pushups and multiple other exercises to lose weight. I’m 5’8 and 223.5 lbs. I’ve been getting fat, so I’m trying to undo that with exercise and proper diet.
Well, if you must know, I'm here to impress myself. I've always been slightly heavier than I would like, and in the last few months, I've been working to improve that. Granted, I've not fixed my diet yet, but that will take time and effort. Hopefully I can get past it, and become a better me!

Pull-ups hit most of what push-ups didn't. Whatever muscles need to relax and expand in one are mostly contracting and doing the work in the other.
