My mom took me to watch Phantom of the Opera in the Princess of Whales Theater in Toronto after watching the movie. We sat front row. She knew I loved this movie! She passed away last month. Man I miss her so much! :(
Except, Emmy Rossum made a wonderful Christine... As much as I love Gerard he should never have been cast for this role, his voice was nowhere near on par for what the phantom was meant to be, he was meant to be an angel of music and have a gorgeous voice but not so much...
coliebugg25 Considering he only took a total of 4 singing lessons (having zero previous training) before singing Music of the Night I’d say he sounded fucking amazing but what would a 6 year chamber choir girl know ☕️🐸
I love the movie so dearly! All it’s music is fantastic and I often end up randomly getting it stuck in my head. The plot was interesting, and gave me so many emotions. Like my hate for Christine :)
Women don’t have falsetto. Falsetto is when men go into their higher range and they hit high notes. Opera singers especially do not have falsetto because they are trained to sing very high into the head voice that it never reaches a point where it isn’t supported. Falsetto is a voice that can’t really be supported because men aren’t used to using it as they were as a child before puberty. I’ve had opera training for 3 years now and I’ve been in choir for 3 years now and the notes I sing and all the other girls never use falsetto, because we simply don’t have it. The boys in choir do because they’re male and only males have falsetto.
Emma Swerdlow you can’t sing opera unless your trained to sing opera. And this isn’t opera it’s more theater/broadway. You can hit the notes but not singer opera.
Why are all of you saying “the very last note” when the second to last one is the highest? The last one is a slight drop from that, it should be easier for you.
To put it in lines _____/ -- OoooF Me /- / being the second to last note, the spike. - being the last note, and slightly below the top of the slash. Like so /-
If you can hit up to the g with a general ease then the c might require simply some practice and believe it or not sometimes you just need to stop thinking about it and just do it. I started off as an alto in choir and when I started practicing classical solo singing I began as a mezzo. Nowadays I am given pieces clearly for soprano. Even so I always struggled with the gs and even fs sometimes. One day I met this wonderful piano teacher who was as crazy about singing as I am so one day I said "I've got 'think of me' let's give it a try. I wanna see how I get the c!" And you know what? I hit it. And I hit it twice. And it wasn't difficult at all. I barely felt a light pressure. Sometimes you just need not to think about "Oh my gosh! How do I do it?! It's c6 what do I do?!" and just let yourself go. It helps not to think about what you can't do and think about how you can do it. I wish you wholeheartedly to manage to sing this song whole one day. Proceed prudently when you hit such climaxes but when the time comes don't think about how high it is but how much you'll enjoy singing it! 👌
The first time i had voice lessons (12) I asked if i could sing this, because i loved phantom of the opera (still do) and it's a beautiful song . I sang it perfectly. The teacher accompanied me and I never missed an entrance or went out of tune. I had never sang it for someone, let alone have someone accompany me on piano. She was so floored, i became her favorite student. It felt great, and everyone tells me how "amazing" my voice is. The only person who doesn't get excited about it is my mom.
same here, im an A2 and i got the high note (finnaly) my friends and i are all really musical/theatre people, so we sing these songs all the time, but we all have different voice parts, so the harmonies are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if you keep practicing you can get it! i am an alto2 (baritone/tenor depending on the song) and i can now hit all the notes, after a long time of pracing! you can do it! and i have never had voice lessons in my life!
What I love is the fact that I am one of the few people that has a wide enough vocal range to sing tho perfectly and also sing music of the night from this as well. I am a girl and most people are impressed but some are just like " that's bad that she has a low range." I am like "gurl listen to me not grammar correctly and sing this at the same time bruh."
Literally everyone here needs to stop talking about how they can or can't hit these notes please. Can we just enjoy the song? It's beautiful and we don't need to hear about how you can/can't hit the notes.
I can hit some of the noes! Can't wait to sing it at karaoke some day! And shock the nation! Practice, practice, practice! I'm a quarter there! Don't wanna strain my voice out or lose it. ha ha.
Being a second soprano and being able to sing this song is the most rewarding feeling ever.
right
im a mezzo soprano so i can hit most notes not all
My chorus class sung this song, when my friend John committed suicide last year. Tomorrow will be officially one year.. :'(. R.I.P John! Fly High #8!

RIP
Sorry for your friend.

Condolences to you guys
Think of me, think of me fondly
When we've said goodbye
Remember me, once in a while
Please, promise me you'll try
And you'll find that once again you long
To take your heart back and be free
If you ever find a moment
Spare a thought for me
We never said "our love was evergreen"
Or "as unchanging as the sea"
But if you can still remember,
Stop and think of me
Think of all the things
We've shared and seen
Don't think about the way
Things might have been
Think of me, think of me waking
Silent and resigned
Imagine me trying too hard
To put you from my mind
Recall those days, look back on all those times
Think of the things we'll never do
There will never be a day
When I won't think of you
Can it be?
Can it be Christine? Bravo!
Long ago, it seemed so long ago
How young and innocent we were
She may not remember me,
But I remember her
Flowers fade, the fruit of summer fade
They have their seasons, so do we
But please promise me that sometimes
You will think of me

the fact that Emmy Rossum was only 16-17 when this movie was made is beyond amazing her voice was perfect

***** Thank you!! I've been practicing actually and your comment motivates me even more. :)
+Tristan That'll help, thank you. I'll probably talk to my choir director to help me.
Soprano here, I love my high notes, but damn, I wish I could have those luscious low notes like you altos do. Embrace it!!
that moment when you realize every competitive ice skater uses Phantom Of The Opera as a routine song
Sydney H Sierra Boggess was actually in competitive ice skating for 10 years!
Sydney H lmao
man Christine's voice is AMAZING!!!!!
I sang that song to my grandma as she passed away
😓💔❤️
+Brooke Bored I am sorry for You.
She's in a better place and in peace
Bless you.
Awe I didn't need my heart anyway.
This is my absolute favorite song from The Phantom of the Opera!!!
now that I see the lyrics, I have a greater appreciation of the complexity and elegance for them. Tim Rice did a marvelous job...
My mom took me to watch Phantom of the Opera in the Princess of Whales Theater in Toronto after watching the movie. We sat front row. She knew I loved this movie! She passed away last month. Man I miss her so much! :(
"Princess of WALES Theater;" it was named for Princess Diana, not for ginormous ocean-dwelling swimmers.
Gerard Butler (Phantom) was slayinnnn in this movie
ikr
The Christine wasn't as good though, in my opinion. I think she was a bit weaker than he was and their voices weren't really a great match.
Except, Emmy Rossum made a wonderful Christine... As much as I love Gerard he should never have been cast for this role, his voice was nowhere near on par for what the phantom was meant to be, he was meant to be an angel of music and have a gorgeous voice but not so much...

Shaile See I always thought his performance was notoriously bad...
I love this song. All I could ask of anyone... is to think of me...
Her voice gives me goosebumps :D So beautiful :)
Recall those days, look back on all those times, think of the things well never do, there will never be a day when I wont think of you.
This brings back memories. I couldn't resist singing the end.😊
Thus song is so beautiufal it brings me to tears
When you're an alto and can't hit these notes but try anyway😁
No kidding xD
I feel you cx
WHEN YOU A BARITONE AND YOU CANT SING ANYTHIN
+Andrei Traian Manolache I like that, though ☺
Yes! Because you've been asked by a guy who can get allll the notes to sing it with him at karaoke, BUT . . . :/
I love this song!!! My friend introduced it to me and now I love it
I love the movie so dearly! All it’s music is fantastic and I often end up randomly getting it stuck in my head. The plot was interesting, and gave me so many emotions. Like my hate for Christine :)
Why did you hate Christine?
Can i get a hey ho from the altos! (I had to sing Raoul's part xD)
Hey ho. I sang Christine's part. They said it wasn't "silvery enough".
Emily Davis
Hey ho,,
Although I’m baritone, alto, and soprano....
And a girl

Emily Davis hey!!
Hey ho😂🤣
This was one of the happier sounding songs of Phantom, but only now do I realize how sad its lyrics actually are
Going to see again ... this time in Boston ... cannot wait ...
I have an opera voice that's great and Sophia, don't give up, ever!
For all the people saying they can't hit the notes. Most opera is sang in all falsetto (girls)
Clara Harris aiming Falsetto is kind of an insult so I would use the words head voice. Sorry if this comment was rude
Clara Harris HA YOURE SO UNEDUCATED
Women don’t have falsetto. Falsetto is when men go into their higher range and they hit high notes. Opera singers especially do not have falsetto because they are trained to sing very high into the head voice that it never reaches a point where it isn’t supported. Great song and a great movie
Lindsey sterling does this beautifully
+Maleigha Kaufman so does jacki evanco
+Terrie Martinez true!
Terrie Martinez her technique is terrible and she uses no space and proper resonance so not really
I love this song and all of the other songs!♥♥♥♥♥
In our classroom they said I had the most beautiful voice and we had an audition and I was picked as Christine and I nailed it......
I love this song
This was so much fun to sing! It was one of the songs my voice teacher assigned to me and I’m sad that I had to quit before I could finish learning.
And this show was made in 1987! When I was born! So cool!
That moment when you realize... I CAN SING OPERA!
Emma Swerdlow you can’t sing opera unless your trained to sing opera. And this isn’t opera it’s more theater/broadway. You can hit the notes but not singer opera.
The way La Carlotta was singing was more of opera
eargasm!!

I'm a 12 year old girl, who is an alto singer, and I can hit these notes very easily :D Thanks for posting!!
then you aren't an alto.
I'm an alto in chorus, and I tend to have a deep voice. So, yes, I am in fact an alto
Kat Williams Good for you! :D as a 14 year old tenor myself, I find it hard to sing this kind of stuff, I envy you!
Jon Kim You're making me blush! >///
Kat Williams I'm almost 13, and I can hit the notes too! (But I'm a soprano :P)
I will remember him always ❤️
"emmy rossum" i came here to listen to the song and squealed because shameless omg how does she do that
I can do it
She had training.
Doing this for a gifted tryout. It's pretty easy to hit the last note since I go high, even for a soprano1.

So beautiful 😍
Raul: she might not remember me
Me: you are a freaking hot dude, why would she not remember you?
