Gerard Butler was one of the most amazing Phantoms in my opinion. He brings such a darkness and seductiveness which is everything the phantom should be. His raspy voice just gives me chills. Although he isn't a singer he did most of his songs perfect. As if you could hear the pain in his voice.
The entire premise of The Phantom is that despite his physical appearance he has such passion and musical talent that Christine falls in love with him. Ultimately his cold heart and evil outlook and actions on the world pushes Christine into the arms of another.
@@rachelh1243 there is other way of viewing it. The whole story is a mith wich means the whole story happens in only in her mind. All carachters represents Christine virtudes and flaws Christine represents the soul, the phantom represents the spirit and the future and raul represents the matter meaning our phisicall world and the past. The whole theater represents material posessions, fame, money. Everything that raul represents and separates her from the phantom which is her true spirit. The deaths represents Christine overcoming vain and manipulation. But in the end she still chooses raul. The lyrics are very clear about this if you know how to listen. It is a story about enlightment. The song all i ask of you despite being beautiful is a jail and prisioner song. The song music of the night is about someone who wants to transcend this world. Or it is just crazy thoghts of me...
Yeah. Phantom should have stuck to music tbh. He'd have had a better chance at Miss Christine if he just stuck with music or if he just tried to stay in her life as a teacher. If he just hadn't done his crimes then maybe he would have gotten the girl. But he did the crime, and girls don't want murderers
I swear these two have chemistry in Opera. I love watching this movie over and over. It's like your there with them. I wish they had like a chapter 2 or something.
It's hard to choose a favourite Phantom song but I think this verbal tango just does it for me. Maybe because the Phantom appears to be the leading partner from the start and feeds in the sexual tension gradually in the duet, I had never properly heard the verse where Christine just bluntly asks "How long should we two wait before we're one". She completely strips him (no pun intended) of any power and from that moment on she is revealed to have always been the true leader.
4:32 is my favorite part of the song But this song has got a place in my heart and will never leave it If I ever need cheering up I will remember this song and listen to it
That's the best part when they start singing together and the choreography where they approach each other at it is intense and just beautifully lustful! I also love Gerard Butler's voice the best when he first starts singing "Past the point of no return" after the intro.
A lot of people feel that way and I wouldn't complain at all. In the 2004 movie I just thought the lead characters could actually sing opera with beautiful voices!
I would have chosen Erik. Without a second thought. In a heartbeat. Phantom and Christine were a match made in heaven. I don't think many would dispute that.
The phantom did nothing romantic to Christine he just kidnapped her and suduced her, made he chose between sparing ruols life to be with him or leave with nothing.
... to everyone who thinks christine shouldve stayed with the phantom: it might be a nice fantasy, but fact is the phantom deceived her, lied to her, made her believe he was an angel sent by her late father, he treated her like an object, which he posesses(again, nice fantasy, but nothing you wanna live with), he killed several people and attempted to coerce her into a relationship with him, by threatening to kill her lover ... he also lashed out at her and screamed at her, when she lifted his mask the first time. she´s afrad of him, and he treats her like an object with no agency. in the final moments of the story, after she showed him true compassion and empathy, he recognizes her humanity and accepts her free will. its also then when he says "I love you" to her and he means it, because he´s able to let her decide for herself, where as before he only desired her and would control and coerce her for his own need.
You can feel it. It's like you can feel it in your soul and heart that their bonded just watching it you can see them pushing past the boundaries of all thoughts and pleasures between them
I never took lessons though and may not be good at projecting my voice since I'm mainly an instrumentalist musician. I just improvised and used many voices until I found one that just sounded clear and beautiful. I've played clarinet for a while now and a couple years ago I picked up bass :/
This was one of my first musicals I've heard. I've always loved the songs as Miss Christine gets entwined in the Phantoms lessons and how they harmonize so perfectly yet the ending is completely different from what all would say in the songs, and normally people don't mention Miss Christine in phantom of the opera references, like games have characters themed around the phantom but nothing about Miss Christine, but I love how in Arknights they had their Phantom reference in a different style with Phantom having a twin tailed black cat named Miss Christine at his side with alot of attention in his stories. It's so strange to try and seperate phantom and Miss Christine even in game references cause it feels like something is missing. Oh this turned into a rant, sorry. But they really are so iconic Moreso together
Oh look up the 2004 film of Phantom of the Opera! That was the best production put together and Gerard Butler surprised with the way he sang and Emmy Rossum's voice is beautiful. They should all be in a Disney movie!
Ughh I really wish we could do this song in my chorus class at school! We have a concert each year but we’re all required to sing really boring kid songs that I don’t even like. -.- I wish I could prove to people that I can actually hit the soprano notes pretty well! But thing is, we’re all at different levels, so it might not sound good if not everyone could hit the notes.... idk wut I’m saying lmao. Wishful thinking tho 😂
I wish our chorus class returns, we mostly do religious songs for school masses but when there are programmes like “raprockan”(rap-rockan: kid’s got talent) we organise and manage our own songs to sing with little to no help from the teacher. (They let us do anything independently) I remember our senior high did a phantom of the opera play at one of the school talent shows, it was beautiful like watching in an actually theatre.
