I remember, in my early 20s, the 2nd Gen. RAM was The BOMB when it came out & made Dodge into a serious player in the truck market in late '93 when the '94 RAM came out. Had a 2nd Gen. "Block One" 1997 Dodge RAM 1500 5.9L w/ the extended cab: got rid of it to get a "Block Two" 1998 Dodge RAM~>1st model year for the Quad Cab=useful doors+better interior refinements. 5.2L Magnum v8 would be fun to drive w/ standard transmission!
I have a 2001 1500 reg cab short bed with a built 318 that's putting down about 355hp and 430lb of torque with the 5spd and 4x4 on 32s with no rust, absolutely love it!!
Lmfaoooo! This video was adorable. BUT I guess the rust degree varies by state/weather because I now drive a 1996 Dodge RAM 2500 that was sitting for 10 years, stored in poor conditions, and there was very minimal rust, and the only thing wrong with it was the TPS sensor, the mechanic that serviced it was dumbfounded.
My stepdad used to have a service truck that was a 5.9 dually, loved it to death growing up, eventually became my dream truck to own a dually with a 5.9 although I did like diesels wasnt in love with them. I ended up getting my dream truck with 2 extra cylinders lol. Never knew about the v10 2nd gen till I owned it and I gotta say I absolutely love it!!
I have this truck. Sadly the water pump went out as I was cleaning out my mom's place after she passed. 2 1/2 years and it's still sitting in my driveway.
I like single cab trucks cuz I don't need to seat 6 people no would I want to. in the event of an emergency I can stuff 4 ppl inside the cab plus however many in the bed. Its just me and my 12 year old son that I have to worry about once in a while I'll have his little sister come over and all 3 of us can sit in the cab with no problem.
those shift lights are useless my old 94 z28 had one it just told you to shift the millisecond you changed gear. Its not that hard to get the best mileage take what the truck revs at on the freeway in top gear going 65-70mph my 94 f150 is about 2200 rpm's so I shift right around there and I can get moving fast enough to go anywhere I need to go plus I get around 19mpg!
But the 318 and the 360 had the same hp..... 230hp stock however 318 had 300lb ft torque and the 360 had 330lb ft torque. 318 is more reliable better fuel economy and revs higher than the 360

96 1500 5.9l 4x4 sat for a year through tuff weather replaced the distributor and bam let's go 235k miles on it
I have a friend with a 2nd gen cummins with a 5-speed, I love that truck so much.

What are you basing those numbers on?

Would you rather the video be miserable like most car reviewers are? Have some respect for people trying to be different
@@cptchuff2741 Oh, shut the hell up.
@@adriananoelle4699 No I don't think I will. You shut the hell up. If you can make a better Dodge Ram review video please do it
I love my 1997 dodge ram 1500 5.9 single cab 4 wheel drive. It's a beast

@@Tiltymilk Jesus the 8mpg has gotta suck!
Great video! Thanks for the high quality as well. I'm tired of 1080p
Love my 2000 dodge ram 3500 extended cab 8.0 v10 dually, just wish it was a manual GREAT VIDEO!!!

Only shame is how easily you could have fixed it
Water pump is a hour fix & $60
Cmon man that's an easy fix. Slap on a new pump and top off the coolant.
"I'm reviewing a childhood friend". Right on man.
Best years of dodge trucks
I've heard that these 1500's suffer from transmission issues. Are those issues limited to the automatics or does that include the manuals?
Mostly the automatics
Something about a difference between a 42R and a 46R, apparently some of the automatics are perfectly fine I read.
Why is this truck so familiar? I feel like I've seen this truck on UA-cam somewhere else.
Probably from the channel "cool stuff in weird cars"
I got the 99 club cab (no door) 5 speed 318. The back seat is for kids or inlaws :)

I love the look of the older Rams, dunno why the new ones looks so unappealing...
Agreed. I won’t buy em last 2008
It's probably because you have no clue about reliability in pickup trucks.
@@austinreeves9112 never mentioned anything about reliability... just the looks
I love the truck
Great video! If you ever get a chance, do a Dodge Dakota, they don’t get a lot of attention anymore.!
I live the Dakota, but this guy should do more videos on grindr and less videos on pickup trucks.
Hmmm 🤔 I didn’t know that 96 the back doors didn’t open. My 2000 Ram the back doors open.
They didn't introduce the suicide doors until 1998.
Badass truck man
Mine doesn't have any rust!
Then that means ford and chevy was buying cheaper metal too l

Something tells me that this bro has never even lived in the 90s yet he keeps mentioning the 90s.
Haha try living here in NS/NB Canada. Salty.
I expected some sparkles to come out of his hands when he first introduced himself.
Fierce !?
Would you rather have him be miserable the whole review?
Definitely get a better mic. You basically can't hear the truck at all.
dude stop hating
get stuck n that back seat for 2 hours. but i guess it could be worse
Old Croney's Garage ?
