Kelp Farming .....You referring to Rikki? He couldn’t be further from a nihilist. Why call him a nihilist and not atheist? The only thing he rejects is religion. In every other aspect of his life he seems quite rounded and down to earth, though I don’t know him.
I actually have a theory... well two. Firstly, I reckon he thinks "wardrobe" is just a waste of time that eats into his profits. He's playing a guy who is kinda like him and looks like him and his age, so probably dresses like him. Secondly, I think when you get a certain amount of money in the bank, Simon Cowell introduces you to his "large, black, v-neck, shapeless t-shirt shop" which is then worn religiously, like a uniform for the obscenely rich who no longer give a fuck what anyone else thinks.
I lost my girlfriend to a drunk driver in 2007. She was 4 months pregnant with my only child when she died. Gervais' performance was so relatable to me in his outlook and demeanor that it took me back to those first couple of years without her, and not only how I felt, but what the people around me went through having to deal with me. After watching the first season, it actually helped me make peace with certain aspects of that time that I never really got over. This is truly an amazing series. While it stands on its own as is, I would love to see a second season!
My similar experience watching. In my 14 year depression still going, I've had many of the same thoughts and ideas. This show makes me feel like I have someone to talk to
I wish I could tell Mr Gervais how grateful I am for his brilliant "After Life." I stumbled upon the show shortly after my man died --- the love of my life, with whom I'd made a life, for over 20 years. I was deep in grief. Watching the show, it was all too apparent to me that I WAS the character portrayed by Mr. Gervais. Every bit of it. I cried a lot watching the series. Since Mr Gervais' character was purely fictional, I must applaud the PERFECT job he did in that portrayal. Gervais nailed it! I found something useful in the show...that there IS hope for me, as time goes on. I am still very much in the pain of my grief, a year later. I cling to the notion that perhaps it will be easier to go on alone, at some point. However, I have not reached it yet. But, there is that hope for myself. So, Mr Gervais, if you happen upon this comment, please know that you are brilliant! And, I thank you for "After Life." And, all rough edges aside, I love you for YOU and for daring to be you, even if others find that awkward or uncomfortable. I hope you will venture into other ideas always being YOU. Don't ever change.

It’s a stand alone comedy-drama ...each part in it played to absolute perfection. It had me reduced to “the ugly cry” one moment, and then laughing out loud the next. Brilliantly written by Ricky Gervais, and I love his truthfulness 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I loved everything about this series. Then I watched the out takes on YT and laughed so much it hurt. How the actors got through any scene amazes me. Looks like they had so much fun. Not only are these actors brilliant but seeing them undone just like anyone makes me realise just how hard acting is. Behind the seriousness, they're all crying with laughter too. What a gift this series is. Just brilliant.
This is a very very accurate portrayal of what it us like to be a widower! It is an incredible show, that is full of truth! His character is EXACTYLY like who I am.
I’ve just watched 1st and 2nd series and it’s awesome. Ricky has done it again. I must say, Kerry is amazing in this. The part is written for her. I didn’t even realise she was an actress...I’ve just seen her doing stand up. They both have awesome chemistry. 😎 😎
Absolutely brilliant. Showing the everyday realness humanity and emotional roller coasters we all go through on a daily basis. Shown in such a beautifully simple level headed way. Simply genius....hats off to you Mr Gervais

How Ricky accurately goes through the whole healing process of is amazing. The staying face. And you believe you’re doing alright and then one trip up and that’s it. Back to square one. I remember it more like "Happiness is such a great thing that it doesn't matter whether it's yours or not". But it did the same to me. Making other people happy even if you can't find happiness yourself at the moment - what an amazing idea.
Ahhh thank you! ❤️
@@Foxys1974 My pleasure
Yep I put that quote up on my wall. Beautiful
greatest show ive ever seen. perfect dialogue. brilliant acting. even by that gorgeous doggo. i laughed my guts out and cried my eyes out thru every single episode of all 3 seasons. THANKYOU RICKY. u made me wanna live again.
Best thing he’s ever done, just binged watched Series 2.
After Life was honestly my first Ricky Gervais show and I love it. It’s honestly his best because it feels so real
Absolutely spellbinding, Mr Gervais, thank you for making me feel again
Ricky, we loved it. It's brilliant. The cast is wonderful. Looking forward to season 3. Cheers🍷
Brilliant. Never used to like Ricky Gervais at all but, now after seeing after life, I love his stuff.. Fab!!.
Really loved this series! I think his delivery of raw emotion was very well-executed.
An amazing story. I loved it. Left me needing more.
This needs a second season instantly. Come on Ricky.
The last episode is a bit teary and it's all brilliant.
Gayyy 😂
The secret of Ricky's success is that he knows when to stop! The series is perfect as is!
@@spudlington well he's still doing stand up.
@@MrMetalManMe He's still funny though maybe not as funny but still funny.
It can't really have a second series it pretty much finished off!
He’ll make another series (he’s editing now) and then make a special, he does it with all of his shows. Derek, the office and extras
I've never in my life watched any of Ricky Gervais' other projects. I've just finished watching the 2 series of this and thoroughly enjoyed it x
After life is an absolute masterpiece it’s a contender for some of the best Netflix shows ever
absolutely loved this show. only wish it was longer.I also thought Ricky's acting was fantastic ..
This is a very very accurate portrayal of what it us like to be a widower! It is an incredible show, that is full of truth! His character is EXACTYLY like who I am.

I spend the whole time binge watching this is tears of laughter and sadness.....
just fantastic
I didn't know who Ricky was before I watched After Life, now he is my favorite comedian
not only may this be the deepest, darkest place RG has gone, but it shows how brilliantly ascended this male human being is. bravo
I’ve just watched 1st and 2nd series and it’s awesome. Ricky has done it again.
I must say, Kerry is amazing in this. The part is written for her. I didn’t even realise she was an actress...I’ve just seen her doing stand up.
They both have awesome chemistry. 😎 😎
I think it’s genius to do something like this ... where you laugh your head off at times , and cry at times. I loved it.
The Happy Camper reminded me of Billy Crystal in Mr. Saturday night when he eulogizes his mother! I agree Mr. Gervais is genius.
Sad, funny, crude, happy, depressing, heartwrenching, uplifting, dry, witty, deeply moving... it had it all!
Thanks Ricky for this show, it was therapeutical, i swear. I love you
I binge watched too. Loved it. Ricky is genius Every character perfectly cast. Cant wait for series 2.
Absolutely brilliant. Showing the everyday realness humanity and emotional roller coasters we all go through on a daily basis. Shown in such a beautifully simple level headed way. Simply genius....hats off to you Mr Gervais
Great work from Ricky as usual and Kerry is gorgeous.
this show saved my life, more or less.Thank you Ricky Gervais
My baby Winston of fourteen years died from pancreatic cancer april 13 2019 so sad. I spent my life producing news, this script is dead on. Thank you cast and crew for producing a gem and helping my broken heart heal. Ricky Gervais thank you for being you. It helps being the same age.
STur
Ricky is just brilliant ❤❤❤❤
I watched it on Netflix I really felt everything that was going on thank you so much Ricky you are amazing it was sad & funny thanks Sir
How Ricky accurately goes through the whole healing process of is amazing. The staying face. And you believe you’re doing alright and then one trip up and that’s it. Back to square one. Watching After Life, made me feel like I wasn’t alone. And that’s a powerful thing.
To anyone that doesn’t understand self loathing, depression and the grieving process, then watch this.
And to anyone that self loathes, is depressed and is grieving, watch this. You ain’t alone
