Folklore for PS3! That game was awesome minus it’s flaws. It’s a shame it never took off because it came out at launch for PS3 and didn’t do well. Sucks the company is no more. There was supposed to be a second game but, Sony eventually said no because of the first game’s sales. Well if a system costs $600 plus USD, I wonder why most games didn’t sell that well for the system at launch :/ too bad Sony couldn’t realize that. :(
Honorable Mentions: Salt & Sanctuary Muramasa: The Demon Blade Phantasy Star Online: Episode 1 & 2 Plus Final Fantasy XV Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance Champions of Norrath: Realms of EverQuest Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines LandStalker
I wouldn't call it a broad term, just a term people fail to use consistently. By no definition can Dark souls, Diablo, MH and Nier be in the same genre as TW3, Fable 2 and Baldur's gate without games like Grand theft auto, Call of Duty and Fortnite also being action rpgs. Either the genre includes every game with action, a progression system and in-game items or loot...or it has a more specific definition. I don't think Nier is a looter and therefore couldn't be included in list that includes Dark souls but excludes Baldur's gate and Fable 2 and Nier has no roleplaying and therefore could not be included under a label that includes Fallout New Vegas and very broadly Assassin's creed Odyssey but doesn't include games that lack roleplaying like Bloodbourne and Diablo. If we define action rpg to sit firmly around Nier, games like Devil may cry, God of war and Shadow of the Colossus would be the only action rpgs excluding games like Grim Dawn and Ultima 7 alike.
@Reborn In Rationality A game with no roleplaying would be very out of place on a roleplaying game list. I agree the list is bad due to an inconsistent definition for rpg.
Dialogue choices to change how the game played, a leveling system, and customization. Yes it was an rpg, you create your story through the way you play
Good list. The Witcher 3 is a masterpiece, Skyrim is timeless, and I never liked the isometric camera angle not a big fan of diablo-style games, but Path of Exile is a great game, especially free. Just make sure you know what build you want before you begin because going to far in the skill tree can mean disaster for your endgame experience.
@D Abyss Not so much as you can change your warframe and weapons for certain missions. Whereas in PoE you can just be stuck (as a solo player) until you farm enough reallocation points to fix your character.
Pretty much came to say that. I've must have played for over 500 hours in the last 18 years and always thought it was Turn Based, but that's just my opinion.
Razor AteMyBaconSandwich VERY GOOD GAME BUT LIMITED. Though I must say that game had so much potential. I actually preferred to play that than Skyrim. But the story did not progress well and the combat became to redundant. Still I wish they can come out with a better funded sequel. I remember the the troubles Curt Schilling had.

Elder Scrolls SKYRIM OBLIVION MORROWIND DRAGON AGE ORIGINS DEMON SOULS DRAGONS DOGMA MASS EFFECT 2 DEUS X FALLOUT 3 WITCHER 3 BLOODBORNE I MISSED A FEW BUT THIS WAS THE ESSENTIALS and Diablo and the rest of HACK N SLASH RPG ARE excluded. They have their own genre. As do Tactical RPG like Divinity Pillars of Eternity BALDURS GATE ETC.
Those games can't all be part of the same genre. Clear divide with TES, DAO, ME2, FO3, TW3,POE and Baldur's gate on one side and the other games on the other. Dragon's dogma is the only solid middle ground here with Deux Ex branching off it's own way. Baldur's gate a 'tactical' game? More a roleplaying and story driven experience like FO3 than bloodbourne.

There was supposed to be a second game but, Sony eventually said no because of the first game’s sales. Well if a system costs $600 plus USD, I wonder why most games didn’t sell that well for the system at launch :/ too bad Sony couldn’t realize that. :(
Honorable Mentions:
Salt & Sanctuary
Muramasa: The Demon Blade
Phantasy Star Online: Episode 1 & 2 Plus
Final Fantasy XV
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance
Champions of Norrath: Realms of EverQuest
Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines
LandStalker
I wonder if Nier Automata should make the list.
Action RPG is a pretty broad term.
I probably would've put it at #1 but that's just my opinion.
@Reborn In Rationality I've seen much better certainly.
@Reborn In Rationality Nice Username by the way.
After i saw this video i had an urge to play witcher 3 again and so i started 7 hours inn already damn good game
mr-white 87 try going for all the trophies/achievements it will give you a different perspective on the game even if you’ve played it a lot.
@@mohamedtahlawy3728 i have the platinum trophy on it and all the trophys for the 2 DLC
mr-white 87 same,such a replayable game!
@@mohamedtahlawy3728 yeah it is so mutch fun to,
not many games are these days i my opinion can only think of a handful
mr-white 87 true!
Deus Ex was an Action RPG? I never knew it was RPG. And I hope Kingdom Hearts is in this category
Dialogue choices to change how the game played, a leveling system, and customization. Yes it was an rpg, you create your story through the way you play
Trailblazer Lazer Razer :D it definitely was!!!!
@@Maikeru101 did you seriously go through the comments twice within 6 months and answered the same comment twice without noticing? lmao
@@Kinta02 he was replying to a now deleted comment
There is no way i will play a souls like game again fuck that
Fable 1 is better than 2 u smokin ?
Nier Automata and Witcher 3, classic in our generation.
@@IGutlessIWonder I prefer torchlight 2, but everyone has opinions, oh wait I forgot the internet is based
Mass Effect Trilogy is the best in my opinion. Such a great series
It's more open world, but bonus mention for Sleeping Dogs, that has a combat system that puts most ARPGS to shame in my opinion, just such good fun!
Pso1 first on line action rpg on a console should have been mentioned
Vagrant Story is an action rpg!? O_o
Pretty much came to say that. I've must have played for over 500 hours in the last 18 years and always thought it was Turn Based, but that's just my opinion.
Demon souls?
Souls like genre is started by that game, but compared to Dark S. and any other in this list, Demon's souls is just okay
Surprised Kingsfield, Dark Angel Vampire Apocalyse, Okage the Shadow King, or Demon Souls never made it into this
Great list, but no Kingdoms of Amalur? The shame!!
Not 1 tales game. . . hmmmm. . .
Warframe should be on this list
It's not a rpg
Sacred:)
He mentioned Witcher 3 has limited customizations? LOL!
Weird to not include Borderlands 2. Or Fallout New Vegas. Or Bioshock. Etc.
Thats what i call a List:)

The world ends with you
ALttP isn't an action RPG, it's an action adventure game. Link has no stats and he doesn't level up.
@@surprisedwoody1025 True
THIS WAS AND FROM MY UNDERSTANDING THE BEST ACTION RPG TO DATE.... in no particular order.
Elder Scrolls SKYRIM OBLIVION MORROWIND
DRAGON AGE ORIGINS
DEMON SOULS
DRAGONS DOGMA
MASS EFFECT 2
DEUS X
FALLOUT 3
WITCHER 3
BLOODBORNE
I MISSED A FEW BUT THIS WAS THE ESSENTIALS and Diablo and the rest of HACK N SLASH RPG ARE excluded.
