How clever to take something you've started but ran out of steam on and decide to interpose it into an altogether different interpretation of your inspiration--I like how you think! Very creative, very improv and smart (those English flowers could have lived in a bag for a decade or two).
Thinking "Outside the box" is a great concept to pass on to others: you inspired me! Thank you!

What a great quilt! These are the kinds of quilts I love. The two quilts I have that my Great Grandma made are scrappy. They used whatever they had to make quilts. They were strictly made for use at that time.

Picked up at Goodwill for a couple of dollars, and inscribed in 1989 by the original purchaser named Kathy for her “dearest Grandma” with a lovely touching sentiment. I love the inscription almost as much as the book. It is a treasure. As are you.

I appreciate this so much! Because many of us were taught "the way to make a quilt" and no alternatives mentioned. Let your mind and your ideas become " the way to make a quilt". By the way I am not trashing what anyone else does but trashind the mindset that things can only be done "the right way" which basically translates "my way".

Love your daughters quilt. Improv is fantastic. No rules! Girl Guides of Canada sell cookies just like Girl Scouts of America do. We don’t have as many flavours tho. In the fall we sell chocolate wafers of mint chocolate dipped in chocolate. In spring we sell boxes with chocolate and vanilla filled Oreo type cookies. One side of the box has chocolate and the other, the vanilla.

I absolutely love watching your content… it really inspires me. I haven’t made many quilts but each one has definitely been a Labour of love. The first was for my nephews cradle , the second started out many years later as a little ‘something to pass the time’ on my lengthy commute to work - ended up as a double bed cover for my daughter 😂 T he third was a knee quilt for my sister-in-law who, by then needed a wheelchair to travel to and from the hospital for her cancer treatment. Then followed 2 cot quilts - which frankly I don’t think were appreciated at all 🙁 but the last one was definitely the most challenging. It was a memory quilt for my sister-in-law , who sadly has dementia, so I incorporated lots of transfers of photos from when she was young. The next one? That’ll be for me! Keep up the good work! Loving it. By the way, can you remind me of the name of that book - looks amazing - wonder if I can get in the UK?

Hello i just came across your site. And i love the way you quilt. Choosing quilt squares or pieces of a quilt design. And then incorporateing them into your quilt top. This quilt came out so beautiful. your daughter is going to just love it. Not only because her mother made it for her, but because the colors and design choices are beautiful. I wish I would have had quilting experience when both of my kids were little. They are grown with children of their own. It's okay I haven't been quilting for very long. But I do enjoy what I have learned so far. And more importantly I have grandbabies now six of them that I can make quilts for. I'm hoping by watching your channel, that I can pick up and learn a few pointers from you to improve my quilting techniques ? Thanks for sharing this video, I look forward to seeing more of them.

Wow, wow, wow. Your perseverance is always the most inspirational part. I like at the end how you grind it out. So real. It feels like how I feel at the end and it does not mean that I don't love it. I'm just done with it, yet I must fully execute it or I'll be so disappointed. Why I tend to be monogamous on projects. I quilt all my quilts on my domestic. No long arm budget. I have a right broken arm that never healed straight, so fmq is painful after about an hour. So it takes me about 2 weeks to quilt a quilt. So when I finish a top, I cut the next one, because, this hurts as well.. But it feels rewarding to be moving on. Then I baste the previous quilt and begin quilting. After an hour I take a break, then I start sewing together the next top. Sometimes I have finished the top before I finish quilting the previous quilt so there is a bit of a backup. And sometimes I mix machine quilting with hand quilting. So I'll just stitch in the ditch to make sure it holds together and then hand embellish. In short, it is rare when I am not quilting an hour a day, unless it is a super busy work week.

I just love watching the way you quilt .... My math stinks and that's why I design as I go like you and just say...like the great words of Pee Wee Herman...."I meant to do that!"
FYI ...You can use the leaf method you are doing by using used dryer sheets ...(if you use them) or a super light weight interfacing to do your leaves. That way you don't add bulk and waste fabric you can use for other things.

Oh the technique you used on the leaves is what Lori Holt uses on all her applique! I love using it. Great choice. Loving your quilt. You are so creative.
Girl Scout cookies have become so expensive, I buy the copy cat at WalMart, taste just the same for $2 a box Fudge Mint

I started using Gutermann thread years ago because a quilt my husband's grandmother had made started coming apart because the thread was rotting. I soon gave up mending it! Gutermann thread has way less fuzz than any other thread I have tried. I am always starting out with a pattern and then changing the plan when I make quilts:)
