There's a special tool required to install the injector pump which prevents rolling the seals on the end. Other viewers would better know its proper name. It's super tricky putting it back together w/o the tool. Awesome work, job repairing this dozer. I wish I could afford it. 😊😊
I was a under the impression from my friend that did my pump at Progressive Diesel that the rotor seal that comes apart was down further in the vein pump that you did not take apart but I may be wrong, I’m sure you would have seen that in the parts break down you have. At any rate I agree about doing everything myself but I must say after watching your video I’m so glad I spent the $1000 to have my friend rebuild it and let me borrow his specialty tools and give me pointers. It was well worth it to me. Thanks for sharing your journey
For 1000 bucks I think you did great on that pump job. Its enough of a hassle to remove and install as you know. Only having to do it once is nice. I havent run this one much more since this video but ill get back to it in the spring.
good for you. i think you are too hard on yourself. you are an honest, thoughtful man. be proud of yourself and what you think and what you can do. 90 percent of today's men could not have fixed that tractor. but you did. best wishes
@@spankranchgarage Just seen my first show of yours yesterday. Love it. I got me a 1990 1400B JCB back-hoe that needs some work on it but running good. Now I'm going to go watch what you did to yours. Good information you share. Rock on buddy.
It sounds pretty smooth now! Been waiting to see what else is broke... Really enjoying working on these old beasts. 2 days of running my 410 and she's running great still. She digs up stumps pretty good for slower hydraulics..
Hopefully it came out the exhaust. If not its stuck in the piston and will come out the exhaust eventually. Its pretty thin and brittle I dont think it could of done much damage if any
I'm no expert at all. However, I was told that the Roosa master driveshaft is necked down in an area. In the event of a run away or certain other failures. It will snap. Shutting the engine down. Also, In the event of a run away. Blocking the air intake, ( short board, big rag, etc. ) will shut it down.
Yes all diesels can run away if they get fuel (or oil) from an unexpected source. For the pump to cause a run away is possible as well. I was careful to check the weights and gov mechanism many times when repairing the pump to prevent this.
The roosamaster shaft at least on a deere is very thick. Its gotta be at least 1/2" thick even in its thinnest part. I dont think it will shear. But either way, you are right. Choking airflow or blasting with a co2 fire extinguisher are the best ways to shut down a runaway
You run anything special in these old machines that were built when high sulfur diesel was the norm? I’ve got a 72 case 350 that i just got going and i cant find much about it
Fuel lubricity is important but these old pumps are very well designed, they put up with the ULSD. Hot shots EDT is a very good additive. Howes is good too
what do I think???? Area Diesel Service is your friend, not affiliated in any way, I've just seen how they have helped out many, many content creators, they are also know for providing advice and tech tips over the phone. I you have time I suggest you check out one of their videos.
I know of them and love what there doing. If I messed this up I would have sent it off to them. But I like learning how it all works myself so I can rebuild one on my tailgate if I’m in a pinch later in life
Guess my post was erased. Maybe since I put my email in it. Anyway - depending on how it turns out, I might be interested. I need a little dozer. Never owned one. Have a mini and a 4wd tractor w/loader . This would be the perfect compliment.
add a few magnets to the fuel tanks, and a magnet to the clear fuel sight bowl of your new updated fuel water separator Filter microns Should be 30, 10, 5 This will greatly increase your injectors Change fuel filters every 250 hours or every 6 months
Really sad you cant tell us the name of the bad, nice try. Business that never fixed the problems. Even hooked up the hydraulic system wrong. Somehow please, save us from stupid unscrupulous dealers.

Perseverance and attitude will prevail!!!!
I often get impatient and frustrated.
Time and a good cereal malt beverage helps.
Sounds great. I’ve learned I’d rather screw something up myself, than pay someone else to screw it up!
Always!

Nice job, your channel is going to take off.
Hope so!

Very interesting and informative video. GREAT
Nicely done.
Fuel tank clean that out and God bless you you put on a hell of a show
Nice job, that thing purrs :) The FUD factor (fear, uncertainty, doubt) was too high for me to work on that machine😀
Running sweet now.
Pump rebuild success

Thats awesome to hear! Im hoping to dig up a lot of stumps with my 410 once its all repaired.
Awesome, so nice to a diesel running pretty much smokeless!
Yes indeed!
What about fuel tank algae...can you sample the tank...just a thought...
Cylinder 2 sounds perfect
It sounds great
Ive had to put a fuel filter inline in front of the check ball....youll catch it there over time
That’s an awesome idea! Thanks for that
@spankranchgarage it really NEEDS that check ball assembly to keep prime while setting overnight and long-term
Sounds like the govener coming apart. Normally one cleaning of the glass bulb does it.
The pump is just rebuilt with a new govenor. I think there is a passage in the housing that I missed
Where is the missing injector tip ?
Hopefully it came out the exhaust. If not its stuck in the piston and will come out the exhaust eventually. Its pretty thin and brittle I dont think it could of done much damage if any
That glass check bulb makes it hard to bleed the injection pump
Inspect that fuel tank, Add in extra fuel filters best insurance
Did you finish this machine? Guy in SE Pa wants a John Deere AmT I have. Figured might deliver and pick that up if it’s a good deal.
Not yet. I am focused on other projects currently but will have this dozer in tip top shape for spring
Awesome. I’ll be following along. Keep me in mind for when you’re ready to unload it.
Spankranch check the solenoid for cracks swelling
Hot no start or hot long starts will happen when the solenoid has a crack or is swollen
Can those motors run away... have me worried now I'm working on a 6 cylinder john deere skidder been sitting for years around 10 or more years

It started I just went for it surged badly and wouldnt shut off.. ...... it finally died on its own but I was worried lol

Fuel lubricity is important but these old pumps are very well designed, they put up with the ULSD. Hot shots EDT is a very good additive. Howes is good too
Can that be coming from fuel tank
I would hope not as I thought the factory fuel filters were pretty good, but anything is possible

Great job bud did u sell this dozer
Not yet. I have a buyer lined up for when its finally fixed completely but no cash in hand yet.
What are you asking for that dozer?
I havent finished getting it all fixed up yet but I plan to price it at around 10K
Guess my post was erased. Maybe since I put my email in it. Anyway - depending on how it turns out, I might be interested. I need a little dozer. Never owned one. Have a mini and a 4wd tractor w/loader . This would be the perfect compliment.

Bio fuel (turd in the tank) maybe
The tip went out the exhaust it will be fine
I sure hope so!
Put a sticker that says turn the fuel on dummy
I’ve done it myself too many times
Third!
Really sad you cant tell us the name of the bad, nice try. Business that never fixed the problems. Even hooked up the hydraulic system wrong. Somehow please, save us from stupid unscrupulous dealers.
There have been several hands on this machine. Without knowing exactly who screwed stuff up I don't want to falsely accuse anyone publicly.
first
Spankranch check the solenoid for cracks swelling
Hot no start or hot long starts will happen when the solenoid has a crack or is swollen
This is a great tip. I havent seen that before. Ill start checking for that.
