Kent, your videos keep me going camping. The last time I went camping I brought everything to make your Scottish eggs but was too scared to cook with oil because i haven't ever really done it before. But these videos keep me wanting to go outdoors and heal. I've been looking for a new fried rice recipe to try. I started learning to cook when I retired and my wife hasn't complained yet (she says she needs to keep me cooking for her}. Thanks for the great videos. Keep 'em rollin'.
I love this channel. It's just so wholesome. I live in the southwest of the US in Arizona, and this makes me feel a great pride in the tradition and culture of my country. It doesn't matter how you look or what language you spell your name in, everyone can love appreciate the simple and kind life cooking and bring us. Just cause you're a cowboy doesn't mean you can't love sushi! And that's a great lesson, hungry bellies and tasty food can bring all sorts of folks together from all parts of the world as friends at the dinner table. Everyone's all caught up in drama scary news nowadays, they overlook the simple and small parts of day to day that really matter. Good food, community, education, whatever god brings you kindness, and the simple joys our good green earth brings us. Thank you Kent and Kin, for all the cookin' lessons, life lessons and shared happy moments! God bless, and full bellies to you.
I had a great uncle who made the most unique fried rice I've ever had; Red-Eye Southern Fried Rice. I stayed a few weeks with him over the Bicentennial summer. He died on New Years Day 1977. He was 96 years-old. He sweetened his coffee with Blackstrap molasses and would use a cup of it to make red-eye gravy with fried ham steak or fried sliced Spam drippings. Red-eye gravy was the substitute for soy sauce in his fried rice. Fried ham, yam (orange sweet potato), celery, onion and chopped hard boiled eggs were always part of the ingredients.
I am diabetic but I could that entire skillet. I will have my Cambodian friends watch this. Love your beagle, had to give mine up and thank you for your service from an Army vet.
I love cooking fried rice, and I’m smiling about this video. My family likes it when I brown up some diced pork loin and dump the rice in to get started, the way Kent does with the mushrooms. And bring on the “cackle berries” and chopped green onions!
I found this channle about 4 days ago and have watched about 15-20 videos so far. I always cook in cast iron and I love cooking cowboy style. Best channel ever. Keep the videos coming.
Shannon I loved the recipe, but I would like to compliment you on your photography. It’s always spot on and I really enjoyed the camera tour around that part of the ranch. I believe that Kent is very blessed to have you, and I can tell he knows it. Again God bless you both in everything!✝️
Kent sure did enjoy the intermission watching the cattle and cowboys while waiting for the rice to fry! Reminds me of looking across the prairie in my good ole home state of Wyoming! Not sure if I could ever leave, willing to bet you've visited but if you haven't you sure are missing out! You and shan do a wonderful job sharing your love of cooking on the chuck wagon! Obviously you are always on the camera but love hearing Shan's input and the appreciation for the vet's that keep us free every day!
One of the things I enjoy the most when it comes to Chinese food is the fried rice. This is so good that you can just eat this and take a break from meat for a meal. Also have you done a chili recipe yet?
I’m an Asian boy that was born and raised in a small town in west Texas, and I approve this message! Cowboy Kent Rollins is hands down the best there is!
Subscribed to your channel after Uncle Roger's review video. I found myself crossing my fingers that he wouldn't be too hard. But you, sir, are an amazing cook and an even better person! The sportsmanship and sense of humor you show are just wonderful! And I honestly liked your version of fried rice, despite what Uncle Roger says. I'm Going to try it but I might just add garlic and maybe not use celery (it gets all fibrous and stringy when I blend it but that's probably just me) and I may substitute it with celery seeds. Thank you Cowboy Kent!!
I don't cook often. I don't even like country music or country living. But 2 things I do love are Westerns and Kent Rollins. The guy is the country cooking Bob Ross. I found this channel a couple months ago, and wait for every week's episode, and put it on when I am done with work to get in afternoon mode.
That's exactly what I was going to say as an amateur Asian cook. I sure it tastes wonderful but so complicated and too many steps. Supposed to be simple with few basic ingredients. I would love to taste it however.
Best fried rice for sure! This is the closest I’ve had to what you can get in a hibachi restaurant. Great job chef! Love that you’re from Hollis, I grew up just east in Grandfield.

I save up the leftover rice in its original paper box from Chinese takeaway and throw it in the freezer for fried rice later. This is the way I do it. I rip off the metal handle from the rice box and microwave the rice to defrost it. Then I fry up an entire large onion in a large skillet like you have yours in. I remove the onion from the pan and add the rice and some peanut oil. Fry it all up crispy, then add frozen mixed vegetables (peas carrots green bean and corn mix) and add back the onion. I season the mixture with Knorr Chicken bouillon like you used, and sprinkle on my saved up soy sauce from sushi or Chinese takeout. Sometimes I add bean sprouts from a can, well rinsed. I add some previously cooked ground pork/sliced up BBQ pork/cooked shrimp- whatever meat I want. Then I whip up some eggs, dig out a hole in the pan so the eggs cook on the bare pan. Scramble eggs and mix in. Toss all together and taste for more seasoning of soy sauce/chicken bouillon/pepper. I call this my ‘free food’ because it’s saved from our carry out or takeaway order. My family loves it!
Now Kent, my dear mother used to make fried rice in her old Erie skillet that was heaven on a plate. I'll try to remain open minded when I try your method. Thanks for the great job that Shannon and you do !
Cowboy cooking by Kent, illustrated by Shannon...good job to you both, thanks for sharing. Was that drone footage of the cattle and ranch hands? Another tool for your story.
Hey Kent and Shan. it's so cold here in Holdenville,Oklahoma today that it's so cold it would Freeze the Balls off a Pool Table it is! well i just wanted to share and maybe someone would like to try this i decided to make a red top Stew today i took a roast and cut it up in cubes it was about 2 1/2 lbs then cut a onion up in quarters the took 4 carrots and chunked them up then did the same with 4 celery stalks. and peeled 5 Tators and cut in half's i put in beef stock about 2 cups i did and salt about 1 tsp and 1 tsp black pepper add half tsp of Liquid smoke 2 cans of tomatoes sauce and 1 can green bean 1 can corn then decided to take it up a Notch and added 1 cube of cilantro. did this in our Insta pot. mmmm mmm talk about doing the happy dance. was wondering if Kent has ever made Red-top stew and if so point me to the right link thanks!
I enjoy many of Kent’s recipes but this one I would add the raw eggs into the frying rice and scramble it than... And some meat would for sure bee good inside 😉
'...and buh-lend it.." I love this guy!! Woooh! This is fabulous slow-TV. Inspiring, Humourous, and no-nosense. So well done!! Great editing, and love the small danses in the end too. Thanx a lot you guys! Cheers from Denmark
Going to have to try the sauce. I love fried rice but don’t eat it since my gastric bypass surgery. I will try it on my cauliflower rice. Thanks again Ken and Shannon. You’ve made this pandemic and my cooking at home so much better.
The cooking I've enjoyed most is what I've done outdoors - especially when cooking on a big ol' three-burner propane stove with a flat-top griddle built in, under a dining fly for 50-60 campers. I wish this channel had been around in those days - my cooking skills would have been raised more than a few notches!
2019-08-09, Ron, I noticed that too... geesh, how many cowboys does it take to herd about 100 head of cattle... I counted 10 ! Wow, all those old Western movies really got it wrong! LOL I was hoping we'd get to see those cowboys 'tuck in' to that fried rice...

Welcome to the top of the food chain.
In the wise words of my big brother, “If God didn’t want us to eat cows, he wouldn’t have made them taste like steak.” Deep, huh?
Like actually? Haha, how did you end up transitioning back to eating meat?

Cowboy cooking by Kent, illustrated by Shannon...good job to you both, thanks for sharing. Was that drone footage of the cattle and ranch hands? Another tool for your story.

I enjoy many of Kent’s recipes but this one I would add the raw eggs into the frying rice and scramble it than...
And some meat would for sure bee good inside 😉
The production value on this is far surpassed a youtube channel, Bravo!
Thanks so much
'...and buh-lend it.." I love this guy!! Woooh!
This is fabulous slow-TV. Inspiring, Humourous, and no-nosense. So well done!!
Great editing, and love the small danses in the end too.
Thanx a lot you guys! Cheers from Denmark
Thank you so much for watching my friend.
Use this is as a "I came from the Uncle Roger video" button.
That's a great fried rice recipe... Kent you are a bad man. Shannon ur great as well
Thanks for watching
As Uncle Roger says, add some garlic 👍
Going to have to try the sauce. I love fried rice but don’t eat it since my gastric bypass surgery. I will try it on my cauliflower rice. Thanks again Ken and Shannon. You’ve made this pandemic and my cooking at home so much better.
Thanks for watching David and hope you enjoy
The cooking I've enjoyed most is what I've done outdoors - especially when cooking on a big ol' three-burner propane stove with a flat-top griddle built in, under a dining fly for 50-60 campers. I wish this channel had been around in those days - my cooking skills would have been raised more than a few notches!
Thanks for watching
And im still scrolling to find Uncle Roger saying "HaLoo niece and nephew" in the comments
Thanks for watching

Shotgun Red had a great Shrimp Fried Rice recipe Rest in Peace, Red....
I noticed the cowboys almost outnumbered the cows. Maybe the extras just came for the food.
The herders heard
Never mind the cowboys I’d go just for the food! 😀
Jean Gough The food for the belly , the Cowboys to just look at 😀lol nahhhhh
2019-08-09, Ron, I noticed that too... geesh, how many cowboys does it take to herd about 100 head of cattle... I counted 10 ! Wow, all those old Western movies really got it wrong! LOL
I was hoping we'd get to see those cowboys 'tuck in' to that fried rice...
You two are so awesome thank you so much.
Going to be trying this next weekend on a mountain trip for my friends and I. But will be adding some chicken. Thanks Cowboy!!
