Hey dude, I was on reverb and found this, thought you'd find it mildly interesting, and possibly a WYRON. Here's the link Gibson Custom Shop Florentine Les Paul Custom Champagne Sparkle Used applink.reverb.com/item/12701983-gibson-custom-shop-florentine-les-paul-custom-champagne-sparkle-used
The Trogly's Guitar Show the most famous three pickups is Peter Framton his is a custom solid black with triple white banding it was stolen from him some thirty years ago and he just recently got it back. He had to buy it back then spend another eight grand at Gibson to get it back in playing condition. You can google all this.
this is possibly the best marketing they could possibly ask for - for PLAYERS, that is. collectors will aim for vintage only, but many of the newer guitars stand up quite well. trouble is that there are few to no other channels to comprehensively get a sense of this from.
@@ethanmichael7940 A couple years ago a court in Delaware approved the company's reorganization plan, which allows it to exit bankruptcy and keep itself in business,
i think p90s are probably not great for metal, but i don't play metal so they are perfect for me. i play punk and heavy rock. i switch btw my humbucker and my p90 guitars back and forth and never ever have I felt that the p90s are lacking in grit or heaviness. yeah, humbuckers are fatter, you need to probably figure out which song likes a humbucker better and which one a p90. but honestly, a proper tube amp can get really fat stuff out of your p90 as well, just gotta play with tone/volume/gain differently a bit (yeah, it will not be the same as a humbucker, but it is a different great). my next guitar purchase (whenever that will be) will be a humbucker in bridge and p90 in neck position guitar. maybe a lee malia explorer? those are so beautiful and the pups are wound just fine for me.
Was very surprised to see Night Of The Slunk played! This channel has quickly become a favorite of mine. Keep it up, I look forward to your videos every day.
P90 > Leslie West > TONE > no problem. P90s and humbuckers need different amp settings I find them very rewarding and just feel so freakin' GOOD. I'd rock this one, very very nice Les Paul.
Sure wish you had said "guess this riff and win the guitar".... The heart and the comment are nice though. I could possibly be one of the only viewers that would guess this as that game was kind of a rare gem.
I love that neck pick up. The middle one definitly had strat elements in its sound. I agree with you on the bridge pickup. It needs to be switched out for humbucker. I also thought the neck pickup sounded reminisant of a tele.
Definitely rock that guitar! I have a 50's tribute LP with two P-90s .... best, affordable entry level LP made IMHO. I just love the sound/play-ability of it. It's one of those guitars that's hard to put down....it just says "play me". One quick question: Have the P90's changed over the years in regards to output/tone? I never really hear anyone making comments on them regarding that. Thanks for the video and have a great weekend everyone!
Dude, you definitely get some of the sweetest Les Paul’s on your show. This one is the balls! I’m a little bit older than you and those P90s are right up my alley. I can’t afford it. But if your looking to have someone killed? I’ll trade you. Ahaha it’s s joke. Get it ? Id kill for that guitar.
REALLY Awesome Gibson !! Love it !! The licks ya played are really cool too !! I can't place the diddy but I really enjoyed all the different licks from cool songs !!
I wonder what if there was a guitar that had a Single coil in the neck, P90 in the middle, and a humbucker in the bridge with a 5 way switch. im sure you would be able to unlock a world of tone opportunites
7:20 VEEEEERYYYY COOOOOL!!!! Why there are no guitars like that??? Or with a master vol instead of a master tone... By the way AWSEOME clean tones. The middle position is interesting 🤔
Not a fan of painted guitars for a bunch of reasons but she’s a beaut. Sometimes u gotta mess w your amp settings to get the tone u want. Seems to be the case here. Luv P90s
This *may* be my favorite LP...ever. I have a couple LP's with P-90's and I think they're the best sounding LP's. After all, their humbuckers were originally made to mimic the sound of a P-90. I love the sound of a P-90 driven hard. They are actually a hotter pickup, higher output, than many of their "vintage" humbuckers. Epiphone has had a standard production three P-90 guitar for about the last decade.
*TheVoxOfReason* i have the 56 Pro and a es339p90 they sound amazing and the build quality of my 2014 models far exceed previous models I've owned. I tried a p90 Gibson les Paul and to be honest didn't feel or sound any better than my epiphone.
If you decide to keep it and want more honk out of the bridge (or the other positions for that matter) look into Seymour's "stacked" P-90's. Or maybe even call MJ at Duncan custom shop and see what she can whip up for you. Her motto is : If you can dream it, I can build it". Great guitar, would _definitely_ rock! Would have to add a push-pull pot or something to add that "middle/neck" combination though! Btw, that middle switch position sounds more like parallel than out-of-phase, at least to my ears.
The gain signature can be formed from preamps. There are diode and tube rectified versions, but a low output pickup really helps when backing off the volume, it will clean up. With preamp settings cranked, most guitars sound the same. I'm sure that guitar would scream like a banshee here. What's most important are the cleans, because this is where guitars sound unique. She's a beauty. Gibson Radar is going nuts.
im building one right now. black beauty with triple cream p90s. gonna wire it to have capability with choosing any pickup combo i want including a toggle switch. cant wait till its done
Hey Trog. Love the Vintage White and think the Richlite looks exactly like Ebony. I have an old Peavey with something very similar and love the look of it too. Everyone thinks it's ebony.
Trogly, how do you record your audio/voice overs? It sounds like you're in a booth after you shoot the vid, but it looks like you are narrating as you go. Thanks.
Great request. I get them mixed up but, if not mistaken, the ABR-1 bridge has the wire running across the saddle screws which makes intonation almost impossible when you have to turn the saddles around. You have to remove the wire which can pull your hair out!...The Nashville bridge does not have the wire, according to photos I've seen on Reverb.com...
Damn, that clean tone IS nice. Sounds close to my Guild Starfire V which is why I can't put that guitar down, has that creaminess and a tiny bit of top boost-ish breakup when you dig in.
Very nice, very nice indeed! I couldn't really see exactly what you were meaning by the white until you started to play it. The different lighting really showed off the yellow. Perhaps you have this answer Mr. Austin - why do guitar players like their white guitars to yellow? I guess I am odd because well darn it if I buy a white guitar 20 years from now I want it to be white. If the darn thing is gonna change colors, I wanna pick the new color lol. I agree with you about the Bridge pickup needing to be hotter, however I was thinking more along the lines of let's say a 498 with coil split - that way you can still have your 3 single coil but also a nice and meaty double to show those Fender dweebs what a real guitar sounds like. Now you got me thinking about ordering one of those made to measures - my fiance told me to tell you "thanks fantastic thanks Austin" - oh wait, my bad, that word wasn't fantastic...oops.. lol - Now I have a business question for ya, how did you find this? Reverb or something? Im asking just cause I often wonder if you go shopping for these guitars in local papers/online and such or do people contact you. I know its a little of both but how do some of these really nice ones find their way into your shop. If you are going to sell it, you added springs, does that reduce the value? I suppose not because it's a custom order anyway so you're not really changing a "stock" set up. Anyway, great video.. keep up the good work.
I think people like the 'cream' because they see their idols playing aged white guitars such as Randy. Since you can't buy a nice 'cream' looking white, most people will look to the used market. I mainly buy these guitars on eBay/Reverb. Sometimes it is good haggling skills, sometimes it is being at the right place at the right time or with an auction that is going my way. Sometimes people come direct to me in order to sell because they feel I add enough value for the guitar community that they will accept a lower price for the instrument. I don't get rich doing this, but the work is rewarding for the most part!
That is a gorgeous custom....looks great with 3 p90's ..much better looking than the crowded squashed in 3 humbucker look which I don't like on a black beauty custom
Nitrocellulose lacquer is like that, it looks to me like that part of the neck had some blushing when they sprayed it, it's hard to tell without the black light right?
I have gotten that pinkish color bleed through from Mahogany if i do not clean good after a base coat sanding and some times it will take a month are 2 to come threw
I would think that the combination of the long tenon neck joint and the Nashville bridge would be for utilitarian reasons, not vintage correct ones. Many people believe, as do I that the long tenon neck joint is not only structurally stronger, but also has better sustain and resonance, so that in itself is a reason to choose it. Also, the newer Nashville bridge allows for a greater range of intonation adjustment, thus accommodating a greater variety of string gauge and type, as well as action preferences and alternate tunings. And as it is a custom order, you're not stuck with either the neck attachment that you prefer but the bridge you don't, or vice/versa. As you are paying a premium for a custom order, you can have the best of both worlds. However, I would have ordered a different wiring scheme, with a standard 3-way switch, (not the 3 pickup version), With the bridge volume and neck volume unchanged, but the neck tone turned into a middle volume, and the bridge tone turned into a master tone, and the bridge volume wired to the bridge side of the 3-way switch, and both the neck volume and middle volume wired to the neck side of the switch. With this arrangement, (or the Frampton layout), you can get all seven individual and parallel combinations. You could also have a push/pull on one of the knobs such as the master tone to disconnect the middle pickup from the middle volume, and re-connect it in series with the 3-way, giving you three thicker hotter tones. You could add phase push/pulls to the other three volumes, for total control over fundamental or harmonic feedback, as well as some of those cool Brian Mayish out of phase series tones.
Thoughts on Richlite compared to wood? It's seemingly everywhere nowadays. I've even seen Seagull AWS (all wood series) acoustic guitars with Richlite.
I cut that portion of the video because I feel I discuss it in almost every video with an ebony/richlite board haha. I'm fine with richlite, I don't think it affects anything. The pickups and amp you use have a larger effect. While, yes, I would prefer ebony, I won't 'not' buy a richlite guitar simply because it has richlite.
The Trogly's Guitar Show I appreciate the response! You seem to handle more Les Pauls than Joe Bonamassa, and I figured of any YT resource you'd be a good person to ask.
I would have wired it with 3 push pull pots (pulling each pot activates a pickup) and a master tone. The 3 way switch could be in series, in parallel, and out of phase.

I would have wired it with 3 push pull pots (pulling each pot activates a pickup) and a master tone. The 3 way switch could be in series, in parallel, and out of phase.
I thought you adjusted P90's by screwing the poles out?
In my experience, some have springs like a humbucker whereas, others do not. I'm sure you could also adjust the pole pieces too though!
My Classic Gold Top (in the profile pic) has the adjustable pole pieces. They adjust easily.
