    Haven't watched the makeover yet buuuuuuttt HUGE congrats on the new garage/DIY studio....it's something you've worked hard for and will make a huge difference to your work- just make sure you have stairs that are 'easily' manouverable/add a winch out the window for big projects 😂😂
    P.s really doesn't matter that the cabinet was reproduction rather than vintage as it turned out beautifully😊

      @@DIYDanie I was thinking that would've made sense because hauling material up and projects down seems problematic. If no freight elevator, how will you handle big projects? Love the bookcase! I think you're brilliant and can't wait to see what you come up with next! XO ❤️

    Hi @DIY Danie! Just wanted to flag that Established Titles has been debated and proven for a while to be a scam, meaning that no land ownership is actually legally recognized by Scotland, and taking this sponsorship might be a bit ethically tricky. Figured I'd raise the concern, in case others were considering purchasing from them.

    My lady, thank you for the delightful thrift. Being a novice myself, it's always thrilling to see a master sensei at work. Lovely as always. Also, I hath checked thine budget after my Christmas gifts and bought this as a Christmas gift to myself. So there is another lady as well... Though it will be bittersweet to see the old workshop I'm used to seeing in videos go, will be glad to see you get into a space that will work for you in all seasons... Ta ta for now, and in case I don't get to post as often when I watch your videos due to work obligations: Happy Thanksgiving and a merry Christmas....

    @m.maclellan7147 Рік тому

    You might want to think of a "garage door" on the second level as if you are building bigger things, you need more materials.
    Of course, that means either a boom lift to bring things up, OR, a simple block & tackle winch - see old barns. They had an "I beam" with winch on the end. You can move very heavy things with a properly set up block & tackle. P.s. normally if you have a large load, you have 3 people present. One using the chain fall to lift object, one on second floor with rope to guide object and third person on ground to steady items. Do not do on a windy day !
    The pyramids were built without machines, planning is key !

Oh, and weren't you covering the ezee off with plastic wrap the last time you did it (your mom was there too)? Beautiful as usual M’Lady! Some questions for you though as I’m kind of doing something similar and scouring ideas….1)did you finish final wood with poly or wax? And 2) how does paper with Madge pudge hold up over time and use on shelves? I have done this before on backing but never on shelves for fear of wear over time.

    • @DIYDanie
      @DIYDanie  Рік тому +1

      The one in my bathroom is still holding VERY STRONG. I would suggest a layer on the bottom and top of the paper to give it a good seal. I did not put a sealer on this cabinet. 1) it would ruin the colour I wanted and 2) wasn’t really a need for it? People always assume you need a sealer on everything but you don’t. The piece isn’t going to see a lot of traffic once it’s in place, as it’s not a coffee table etc. The painted surface cleans up well, so really it’s up to you if you want a sealer (it’s never a BAD idea) but it doesn’t always need to happen.

    Even for a modern piece $150 is still a pretty good price. Everything is so impossibly expensive right now that if you find something that's the design that you want and looks even mostly solid you gotta jump on that! I love the paper on the shelves and the complimentary color is really nice. I think papering the complete inside would be too much, so just the shelves is the perfect accent.

    You should be sure to put an elevator in the new garage. They make them for garages and we have one. I wish ours was bigger but it has been a great asset. The floor lies flush with the second story floor when the elevator is up and it drops down through the garage ceiling when in use. It is more of a lift than an elevator but you should look into it if you are diying larger pieces on the second floor or even for transporting wood up and down.
