“This video, feels like a love letter to my grandfather.” This brought tears to my eyes. So sweet. Thanks for sharing your grandfather with us today, Danie. He sounds like a gem of a man.
The part in the video where you make the Wonder Woman lasso light perfectly describes why I love to watch your videos!! You aren't afraid to do something unconventional, a little wacky and so fun! I also love how excited you get when those DIYs work out. It's such a joy to watch you do exactly what you were meant to do😄😄
So I guess I started my Saturday with a few tears-what a beautiful tribute to your grandfather ❤and OMG I so loved the cocoughany of projects you did in this episode! So much cool stuff with loads of personality and shout out to your editor this was🔥one of my favourite videos ❤ oh and your sponsor should be so proud you did such a great job showcasing what Swiss Army knives mean to so many people - an item of tradition & memories in so many lives! 😊
I started getting teary eyed when you talked about your grandfather. I could just see in your face how much you love him and it made me recall precious memories of my grandfathers. They were so different and had such different personalities but they both were to very special to me. Thanks for helping me stop for a minute and recall such special memories.
It's Sat. for me too today, 3 week from your Saturday and I too have started mine with a few tears 😂 LOVE the video and all your videos Danie!! Boop!! ❤
I just saw this! I commented the same thing above. Great minds. 😬 Future Worbla project, if for no other reason than getting to hear Danie burst into a rendition of the “Worbla Woman!” theme song. 😂
as a german who married a swiss i can confirm that swiss army knives are absolutely 100% necessary and always, at all times, all year round, in positively whatever situation handy to have at hand. my husband has one in the pocket of his jeans when he leaves, in every backpack, in every jacket-pocket, he DOES. NOT. LEAVE. THE. FREAKING. HOUSE. WITHOUT! lol. swiss pocket knives.
How fun! Great upgrades. As a birder from childhood (I’m 67) my opinion is those AMAZING tiebacks are cranes. Love the idea of the hand and rose out in your beautiful greenhouse.
I'm dying. The Wonder Woman lasso of light is the best thing I've seen in ages. I was geeking out and couldn't wait for you to turn that light on. Love this so much.
That rope light & hand is super cool. I've seen glove molds (from old factories) in my local antique stores every once in a while. If I see another one, I may grab that and use it for something similar.
Sweet story about your grandpa !!! My husband is a carpenter and is never without his knife. At Christmas time when we open our gifts my husband would pass around his knife to make it easier. So several years ago, my son gave everyone a pocket knife for Christmas 🎄
How is it even possible to read all these amazing comments. You are truly brilliant and imaginative. You inspire every breath. God bless your grandparents. You are doing them proud. 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
Danie, You had my attention talking about Grandpa always carrying a Swiss army knife, I couldn't help but get chocked up as my father always carried a pocket knife and gave me several over the years, he would have been 93 today. Thanks for the fond memories, so sweet you honored your Grandpa today. I love your creativity and enthusisam Danie, great DYI projects. I especially love your 'model,' Kenobi. He is so handsome and lovable, a sign of all the love he gets.
I really liked everything you did in this video. The wicker shades are just perfect. But that Wonder Woman rope light: possibly the coolest thing ever! Thanks for sharing your wonderful ideas with us.
Aww Danie, that was such a sweet tribute to your Granpa. I imagine he is going to love it. You could tell how much he means to you. The knife seems like it was his way of showing he approves of Geoff as a man for his sweet girl. Give him a hug the next time you see him, he sounds sweet.💕
Every tweak, design element was a joy to observe and inspired me to create. Thank you. My favorite was Everyone of your ideas. I have a swiss army knife given to me from Swiss airlines years ago. I am a senior citizen slowly approaching the 80 year mark! I thought yesterday was Saturday. Well being retired ... all days are Saturday. I thought you did not post your video. I claim senior moment. Looking forward to all your next videos.
My dad has carried a Swiss Army knife as long as I can remember. (He's in his 70s) That and his Leatherman Multi-tool. My dad was a Scout leader and when one of his scouts would start the process of reaching Eagle scout, he'd gift him a Swiss Army Knife. I love the sentimental stories so many people have about these knives. I hope it continues for generations more.
The way I burst into tears when you talked about your grandfather giving Jeff his own Swiss Army Knife for Christmas. ❤️🥹😭 Also, the Lasso of Truth light is fanTAStic. Have you thought about using Worbla to make a Wonder Woman cuff for the wrist? Seems like just the right nerdy little detail for your space that would elicit little squeals of delight when you (or we) see it. Beautiful styling on that new shelf, btw. 👏👏👏❤️
One word STUNNING. Love all and have to tell I gave my brother in low many years ago that knife and he is taking it everywhere with him. He lost it once at work but a kind person find it and returned it because he remembered how my brother in low cherished that knife. ❤🎉
The tribute to your Grandfather was so moving. My Dad always had a Swiss Army knife as well. It was passed on to another family member when he died but this video inspired me to get one of my own. They really are extremely handy but just to have one as a perpetual tribute to my father that I can pass down to my daughter would be wonderful I think. Love the shelf and the wicker shades. It makes that whole space so much more cohesive and warm. The curtain tie backs …. Omg so beautiful !! Those are the details in a space that fill it with character and charm. The Wonder Woman sconce is genius. Not gonna lie at first I was like …. 🤨 …. But it looks fantastic. Also I have a million projects that light rope will work for. I also have been waiting for a version of led light strips that don’t have that jittery look to them. So excited to get some ❤
I love the tribute to your grandfather and grandmother. My grandfather was my closest friend. I adored him. We came from a big Italian family. I have a black and white picture of my grandfather in my kitchen, holding up a huge fish that he caught. I am now 72 and I still remember that picture It brings back fond memories to me. Thanks for sharing.❤love and hugs me and Otis🐶 Massachusetts.. what we do for our dogs I think that was so sweet, putting swan curtain tieback for Kanobi❤ I have done similar things for Otis. For the love of our dogs.❤ my favorite was making Kanobi happy. And I love the hand light. That is amazing. It is so cool.
I think the curtain tieback is a goose. Swans have little bumps on their beaks. But you can call it whatever you want! HeeHee! 😊 Loving ALL your DIYs in this video, Danie! The longer shelf is perfect; that blank part of the wall over the TV would have bothered me, too. Now it looks awesome!! ♥ I also love the switch of the lamp shades for the two sconces. And the WonderWoman light is super COOL! I am a nerd myself and I love many of the magical things that you love. I also totally agree with your attitude and opinion that your home ought to make you happy! Another fantastic video! ♥♥♥
Dani gives me such “Trading Spaces” energy every time I watch her which was my comfort show as a kid so when I found her it felt like coming back home to a warm fuzzy blanket 🥺🥰
(3:58) by some coincidence, i watched this video on what would have been my grandpa’s birthday. we said goodbye to him nearly a year ago, shortly after his 101st birthday. he was my absolute hero and i miss him every day. it brought a tear to my eye to see the love you have yours, @diydanie. 😊
The shelf in the living room perfectly balances the room and offers place to casually layer art and such! Being a lamp lady myself, I'm in love with the hand lamp you created and may just have to copy that in future!
DIY Danie: make something with your home that makes you happy Me running to Ikea to buy a giant bookshelf and asked my roommate to pick me up and help me install it. Did we have to drive for one hour back home, find a parking spot and carry the bookshelf pieces 5 stories up because they wouldn't fit into our tiny elevator? Yes. Did all my books fit in the bookshelf? No, we need three more. Am I happy? Hell yeah! Also, that was yesterday, so this video hit home right about now
My first real job was a manager in a sporting goods department that sold Swiss Army Knives. I gave many as gifts. The smiles and happiness of those receiving them was always delightful. Your connection to them through your grandfather was very touching.
I have a very similar connection with swiss knife for my grandpa and I still have the one he bought for me over 10 years ago. Now that he is passed away, I think of him every time I go camping or I use the swiss knife :) He was an amazing builder and DIY! Thank you for making me think about him today. You are so inspirational! :)
I started wearing a pocket knife 1982, as my boys always looked out for sticks and stuff, and some were not that easy to break, but the saw came in handy. Still wear the knife, while they're grown up, using it almost daily ... and thanks for another Saturday full of inspiration, ideas and make the day a bit more sunny with all your openness, pure DIY-craft and honesty
Danie the shelf is absolutely gorgeous. It doesn’t take up the space visually that a large piece of furniture would but it does make that whole wall one huge airy cohesive vignette. And one you will enjoy changing and decorating for every season. You’ll never be bore with it and it doesn’t close the room in. It’s the perfect addition to your living room. Isn’t it strange how changing one simple thing can make such a big difference. The curtain and the shelf👏👏👏🎉⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Seeing how much you love your grandfather made me love your channel so much more. Give your Grandpa an extra hug. For all of us Grandpa's girls ,who can no longer do so.
The lasso-lamp is sensationell !!! Exept for putting plants on books (that's silly, remember water is the biggest enemy for books) the shelf looks much better now. The brass-bird-curtain-holder looks rather like a crane than a swan. VICTORINOX-Army-Knives are great !!! Since I started to work as a flight-attendant 40 years ago, I never left home without my basic knife in the luggage...it's still sharp and served me well. 🙂
Gosh Danie...I ❤❤❤ everything that you did to upscale the living room... .(the kiss that a chef makes with his fingertips)...BUT my favorite is the light in your office!!!!! So unique and so Danie!!!❤
Your enthusiasm about your love of the little things making a big difference in your home has me smiling! Loved this video. I get the same feeling when I get something finished or changed in my home. I also love your tribute to your grandfather. Blessings to you, my friend.
I’m Swiss and received my Swiss Army knife when I joined the girl scouts at 11. I still have and use it; 40 years later. I’m now the godmother of twin boys who are English and just last Christmas I gave them each a huntsman with their names engraved. It seems like such an important and meaningful gift - a rite of passage, if you will.
I absolutely loooooove the long shelf, that completed your living room space! The new sconces linked everything together fantastically! I love the lasso lamp too, low key, I think that you can get away with not using the double sided tape. It looked great with or without it!
I really like the hand led lamp sconce idea, I would like to suggest making a a Wonder Woman bracelet for the wall hand. I like the long shelf as well. Very cool.
I love the shelf across the top of the TV. Such a difference! I love the Wonder Woman light as well! I like to add a “quirky” item to each room. The light gave me such “nerd joy!”(⬅️TM!) I’m really glad you shared the hardware as well. It’s so hard to find creative thought going into ordinary items. I’m glad Kenobi is such a help for you! My four pound, long-haired chihuahua, Phennec, is just a lazy bum….come to think of it, he’s PERFECT for me!
Loved this eppy. The sconces look amazing. All the little things you ordered are wonderful but I think my fave is your excitement over the Wonderwoman rope light. You are so amazing at thinking outside the box and I'm always blown away at what you come up with. You are also just so much fun to watch. I wish I could get you into my house to make it over.
Your projects are so good. I loved the picture of your grandparents you displayed on the new long shelf It is perfect. Last but least the Wonder Woman with the lighted lasso is so you! 😊😊😊👍
Loved this video and definitely the new hardware for the curtains. I have to admit, I had my reservations about the rope light, especially the hand, but wow!!!! I'm off to the store to buy rope lights and see what I can find to use as a bracket.
I think the tie back is a crane…but that’s probably because we’re along their migration route, and I’m used to seeing thousands every spring and fall. I am SO going to try the hand with the rope light….genius!
I love the wooden hand holding the lasso of truth! I loved Wonder Woman when I was growing up! But the wooden hand really made the project! You could even use them for hooks! Thanks for your videos, I’m new but enjoying your content!
Oh Danie, I love the hardware, wood shelf, and ………that hand holding Lasso of Truth light is amazing!! I love your creativity. You totally rock!! You are my favourite DIY. Love ya❤ 🇨🇦
I liked the music this week! Chill but still upbeat, kinda relaxed but positive for a Saturday morning! Would matching baskets work for shades? DIY 2 upside-down baskets!
One of my fave vids EVER from you. 1)I'm hunting down a SAK I bought on my first trip to Europe eons ago to give to my daughter. Be ready for adventure! Sentimental & practical. 2) The Simpsons/Star Wars mashup confirmed I am on the right channel *for me* 3) LASSO LIGHT! Everytime I saw that hand at Ikea, I wondered what to do with it. TY for inspo again!
The frame the gentleman is in...is my favorite frame ever. Lol I have the same on a piece I cobbled together of the Mona Lisa with Starry Night in the background...Gogh Mona Gogh...🤣
I ordered the rope light and the hand from Amazon and my only worry is that the rope light has me buy the part that has to plug into the wall and if it's not included in the rope light purchase. I will keep you posted! Best idea couldn't order it fast enough! I also love all of the things you did in this video and I will get other items when I move to my own home.
Wow, what a smiler vlog this turned out to be. The awe project goes to Kenobi's window watching. Really cute hardware. The unexpected project was the wall sconce made out of the art hand and rope light. What an ode to Wonder Women. And your shelf is the pièce de résistance. It finished the room. The lesson here is it's the little things that create the mood. Thank you for sharing such unconventional unique ideas. Please keep them coming.
I love the Swiss army story of you and Jeff and your Grampa!!!! You have your Grampa's beautiful smile. I love the hand with the rose!!! I want to put the hand light in my grandkids bedroom at my house!!! I have 2 twin beds and I love it!!! I try hard to push their creativity when they are at Pappy and Mamie's house!!! I loved this video. Dani, I bet you could make shades out of unique baskets!!!!
When I was 13 Santa brought me a Swiss Army Knife. My Dad was really proud of Santa!!! I lost it 5 yrs ago, emotional...but I got one that looked like my other Swiss Army knife & just holding it brought all the nostalgia! My kids all have Swiss Army knives! So handy! I love the beams in your home! Have you ever thought of perhaps a wooden slab & then holing it to allow light out. I am thinking I will do that for my kitchen & then my dining room to provide aesthetic! My home always keeps me busy with comfort & thought processes! I am almost there......hahahahahahahahaha! Great video!✌🏻
I just love the theme and tribute you did to your grandfather! ❤ My dad is totally the same, never anywhere without it. He's had to post it to himself at more than one occasion, because he forgot to put it in his check-in-luggage when we went to the airport 🤦♀️ He also had to go back to the hotel with it once we went to Disneyland 🤷♀️ So that should definitively come as a warning! Once you buy one, you'll never want to be without it 😂 But it is very handy at birthdays 👌😁
I liked all of them Danie! The longer shelf really made a difference, and the swan tiebacks, I love those. The rose hand hook, thumbs up, and the rope light, brilliant. Your tribute to your Grampa was so sweet and his gift to your husband was absolutely perfect. I never knew either of my grandads, just my Nanas, and a great uncle, so it's really nice to see that you have such a special relationship. 🤗 I enjoyed this video a lot, don't we all have those little to-do projects awaiting us? My list is yards long! 😉 And I have a mini knife like yours in my purse just in case I need a little help. 👍 You highlighted it perfectly. I may have to upgrade now. 😊 Bless ❤
What a beautiful video - your energy and enthusiasm brought such a smile to my face. I had looked at that Anthropologie hand w/flower before, and seeing it in your space convinced me to buy it for my home. How precious to see your grandfather, and what a lovely wedding photo of him and your grandmother. Loved this style of video - would love to have more of these 'finishing projects' video in the future!!
Until now I didn't know it was called Swiss Army Knife in English. Im Germany it is just called swiss pocket knife (Schweizer Taschenmesser) nothing related to army just to it's storeage I guess 😂 My favorite DIY? The longer shelve! I directly thought that would look great and it really does. Also the little bird curtainholders are so cool! I don't think they are swans since their neck isn't as long but maybe water geese? The hand holding a flower is also cute, and your idea of hanging them in your gardenhouse sounds great especially if the hands come with different flowers in it. I liked the Idea of the rope lamp but for my feeling the rope had to be just a little bit longer so that it would be dangeling down on both sides :) And regarding the wall lamp next to the picture you took the lamp shade off: I thought it might look cool it the arm was bent so that the lampshade is over the art, lighting it like a picture light - I don't know if that's possible but it would make it look more intentional. :) Have a nice weekend! :)
What a sweet tribute to your Grandpa; my condolences to the loss of your Grandmother. LOVE IT ALL! Dani! You never need to apologize for the delay in completing projects!! Gurl! You have done so much! It's all about priority. The extended shelf really jazzed up that part of the living room; it seems to make its own vignette, encasing that entire area, and the lampshade - chef's kiss! Are you going to leave the hardware black or possibly use some paint and/or Rub-n-Buff to change to an antique brass?? I think the birds are a crane or heron; beautiful! I love how Kenobi is now enjoying his ability to see outdoors in his favorite chair. The Lasso of Truth light! Are you kidding me?!! OH! MY! Now I am thinking where ...!!! I love very classical, elegance and then - KAPOW! A pop of the unexpected; of whimsey. Something that starts conversations. I've been looking for those optical illusion pictures, the kind that you have to walk up to then pull back to see the 3- D picture - anyone?? Enjoy your day!! En
I absolutely love what you did over the TV. And since I'm a symmetric lover kind of gal I'm glad you fund the same light on each side. As for the Swiss army knife, we have one in each of our cars, and one in our pocjetor handy bag.
“This video, feels like a love letter to my grandfather.” This brought tears to my eyes. So sweet. Thanks for sharing your grandfather with us today, Danie. He sounds like a gem of a man.

Now you just need to add Wonder Woman’s bracket to the light! Love it
I was thinking about that haha!
Same!
I just saw this! I commented the same thing above. Great minds. 😬 Future Worbla project, if for no other reason than getting to hear Danie burst into a rendition of the “Worbla Woman!” theme song. 😂

Yes, that rattan is so much nicer. That shelf extension looks great as well. It always feels great when we get those annoying, overdue chores done. ❤

Thanks for this genius idea. I will definitely copy the wall sconce 😊 By the way, you find nich rattan lamp shades at h&m home.
We need to upvote this comment a bit more so that Danie can see it!
Love the rope light❤❤❤ Wonder Woman is a childhood favorite 😍
It’s amazing how little details can make such a difference, love them all, and that Wonder Woman lasso light😅love it😍
The lasso light is everything. So simple but such a big statement. Love it!💡📿
Dang, honestly gotta say this is one of the coolest sponsorships I've seen from any youtuber. Loved the back story too.
Anyone else get goosey's when she dedicated this to grandpa? 🥺 ❤
My favorite is the longer shelf , the lampshades are a huge 👍 and the heron tiebacks and the hook pretty details.
Rope light hands down cool 😎
Your idea of the hand holding the lazo of truth is amazing!
The light gave me such
“nerd joy!”(⬅️TM!) I’m really glad you shared the hardware as well. It’s so hard to find creative thought going into ordinary items. I’m glad Kenobi is such a help for you! My four pound, long-haired chihuahua, Phennec, is just a lazy bum….come to think of it, he’s PERFECT for me!
Ahhh!! Love the lasso light. I have a giant Wonder Woman painted on my office wall and that light is a NEEEEEDD.
That lasso of truth - SOOOO GOOOD!!!!!!!
haven't been around for 6 months - turns out, your youtube channel is still one of my happy places. thanks danie, for that ❤
I loved the helping hands today...the rose in the hand and the Wonder Woman rope light! The wicker light shades are great, the whole show was!
Your projects are so good. I loved the picture of your grandparents you displayed on the new long shelf It is perfect. Last but least the Wonder Woman with the lighted lasso is so you!
😊😊😊👍
More videos like this please! Small upgrades or fun easy projects. Love it
Loved this video and definitely the new hardware for the curtains. I have to admit, I had my reservations about the rope light, especially the hand, but wow!!!! I'm off to the store to buy rope lights and see what I can find to use as a bracket.
The tv room looks sooo good! I agree. Do what makes you happy.
The long shelf above tv was my favorite. Love the creativity of this post 👏👏
2) The Simpsons/Star Wars mashup confirmed I am on the right channel *for me*
3) LASSO LIGHT! Everytime I saw that hand at Ikea, I wondered what to do with it. TY for inspo again!
I don't usually ever cry, ever, but I actually broke down sobbing about grandpa giving Jeff a Swiss army knife. I needed this today
What a beautiful story about your Grandpa, loved it.
My favorite was the lasso light.
The lasso of truth light is amazing and plan to copy for niece bedroom
I just love the theme and tribute you did to your grandfather! ❤
My dad is totally the same, never anywhere without it. He's had to post it to himself at more than one occasion, because he forgot to put it in his check-in-luggage when we went to the airport 🤦♀️
He also had to go back to the hotel with it once we went to Disneyland 🤷♀️
So that should definitively come as a warning! Once you buy one, you'll never want to be without it 😂 But it is very handy at birthdays 👌😁
The Lasso of Truth light is *chef's kiss* 💋
😊 Bless ❤
The bird tie back is a crane. It’s really cute and unusual!
That long shelf makes a HUGE difference!
These chill miscellaneous videos are some of my favorites from you. ❤
YES buy more of those "hooks" for the greenhouse!! That shelf was a 100% improvement. That wall is now complete! The hand lamp is awesome!!
Love everything you did...and love your dog !
Gold Wonder Woman cuff bracelet, maybe?! Love everything! ✌🏾❤️
Such sweet memories with your grandpa. 3:09 also had me rolling! 🤣
I loved everything that you did and add to your living room...but that light in your office....WONDERfull!
Until now I didn't know it was called Swiss Army Knife in English. Im Germany it is just called swiss pocket knife (Schweizer Taschenmesser) nothing related to army just to it's storeage I guess 😂
My favorite DIY? The longer shelve! I directly thought that would look great and it really does. Also the little bird curtainholders are so cool! I don't think they are swans since their neck isn't as long but maybe water geese? The hand holding a flower is also cute, and your idea of hanging them in your gardenhouse sounds great especially if the hands come with different flowers in it. I liked the Idea of the rope lamp but for my feeling the rope had to be just a little bit longer so that it would be dangeling down on both sides :)
And regarding the wall lamp next to the picture you took the lamp shade off: I thought it might look cool it the arm was bent so that the lampshade is over the art, lighting it like a picture light - I don't know if that's possible but it would make it look more intentional. :)
Have a nice weekend!

You truly are the Wonder Woman 😃 of DYI 👏🏼🌻
I absolutely love what you did over the TV. And since I'm a symmetric lover kind of gal I'm glad you fund the same light on each side. As for the Swiss army knife, we have one in each of our cars, and one in our pocjetor handy bag.
They are just so HANDY!!!!
