King Kurog is still one of, if not THE best ESO villain. This is because we actually get to spend a lot of time with him so we can talk to him and see what kind of person he is. He's also not some daedric prince or supernatural being, just a regular person trying to elevate his race and keep them safe. We understand his motivations and can symphatize with his cause, though not his methods.
I used to wonder what the urgency with him being crowned king was all about, but then I thought about it some more and came to the conclusion that Kurog likely wants to be king asap because once the three banners war ends, Wrothgar could be in danger.
If the DC wins the redguards and bretons are still likely to attack them eventually, and if they lose they have all the more reason to be united against either the pact or the dominion ( and the reachmen). So Kurog wants to be king as soon as possible so they are ready for the coming storm. Not to mention that it does not look good to call yourself king without the support of your people, Kurog likely felt that the longer it took the greater the risk was that he would not be seen as a king by the other nations and Wrothgar would seem weak as well.
The fact that Kurog worships Trinimac is significant as well - Malacath represents vengeance and curses, of never letting go of the past and slights committed. This is clearly seen and reflected with the Orsimer and their culture as they are very reluctant to accept the change Kurog and his new religion brings.
I believe that for the Orsimer to truly ascend they must let go of all their old grudges and, what some may call, outdated ways. They must move on from worshipping Malacath. Holding on to vengeance keeps them trapped in the past.
However, just like it is hard to forgive and move on, most of the Orsimer cannot let go of Malacath and their grudges. And so they are perpetually stuck in the past. It's a really tragic yet poignant message to the player I think.

I agree, it was a pretty good patch. You're probably right about Bretons and redguards still attacking eventually, them viewing them as insular brutal warlike people that apparently shouldnt be trusted.
It was fun diving into the Trinimic divide, wish I could have went into more detail but wanted to keep it short and sweet. Alot was missed but I guess it's open for people to look up, it's pretty fun to read up on.

I think you should keep doing this with other stories. Like put some years to help us to situate in the story. Few people know when dragonborns came and when they were necessary.

@@MikeDementor@MikeDementor That would be really fun, I was thinking about that alot. The unfortunate part is ai isn't the cheapest thing to mess around with lol. Lots of lore in the elder scrolls that I'm super interested in, huge fan since oblivion.. was seriously considering doing a dwemer lore, and how an entire race vanished, but once again, the ai stuff isnt the cheapest. Althought it's been months now, the ai is probably able to produce even cooler imagery at this point lol
