I really enjoy and subscribe to yours, Mario's and Motivated Painters' channels.
The Gunman is the first automotive painting channel I started and continue to watch on YT.
Keep up the great work all you guys!
Nice work Brian and Mario! Mario has some silky smooth arm movements and great techniques.
Thanks for your years of knowledge, I have used so much of it and bypassing the errors.i owe you years.
You can definitely see the products helping the painter here.... every little helps if you buy cheap products you’ll fight against them to achieve nice results. You genuinely get what you pay for. Great work! Great painter!
You ain’t lyin. My shop got a cheap StartingLine base and primer kit from Amazon and I spend more time buffing and wet sanding after the fact than I do actual painting.
@@drillosophy1012 yeh I know exactly what you mean…we used to have a problem with gloss levels, the next day we would see drop back and lost shine. After so much effort to finish the job it was so annoying…We showed the rep and he upgraded our products and the very next job the paint still looked totally wet the next morning ! (I had to check it was cured!) it was definitely cured but it was just a o shiny and glossy it still looked wet….what a difference! That was when I realised we had been fighting the products for years.
Thank you for your time in giving us tips sir 😊
Great advice as always One of my favorite channels
Hey Brian, I have recently learned some new things about paint/primer composition so here's an idea for an educational video: Why you shouldn't user acrylic paint with alkyd primer and vice versa. I love the videos, keep it going.
Awesome results… Go Mario and Brian!
In the market for a spray gun to aid in the restoration process of my MazdaSpeed 3. Very informative video! Well executed!👍👍
I sprayed for the first time with the dv1 base and I was saying to myself what tha heck is this gun so perfect then I go to youtube and first thing I have is the notification on a video from paint society with a dv1 saying is the best gun YES SIRRR
Love my gti prolite and my iwata Kiwami and super nova . Awesome guns .
Long time paint & bodyman, started out sweeping floors, now a small shop owner. It’s nice to see that you use different guns and techniques but you keep the basics. So many painters and bodymen now a days have lost the ability to adapt to different situations. Not just in this industry but seems like all industries, you must adapt to your environment if you’re environment does not adapt to you. Sprayed in a non heated booth starting out. Enjoy your videos, thank you for the content.
So your telling me theres a chance
Man I started out painting outside. Then I got a canopy. Now I'm in an old uninsulated garage with a dirt floor. The paint jobs all look good though. Just get out there and do it.
That’s what I’m doing this year is working on my technique
Subbed to Mario's channel! Thanks for sharing the link
My two main guns myself. Best combo !
I used to only spray with my right hand until it got broken. I had no choice but to learn to use my left. It made me better in the long run
Thank you brian i got learned lot things from your videos.. I wish you the best all time
Great video, learned a lot!
I set up the fan on my ws400 by closing it, two turns out. I will try the way you set it up in this video. 👍
I use the SATA x5500 RP and HVLP
If you ask most Professional Painters in Germany They will Recommend SATA
My exact gun setup love the dv1 for base and ws400 for clear. Great video Brian and Mario 👍
Beautiful finish
Great video, we need a video showing the unmasking after a paint job
Congrats really nice video, 👏 what kind of paint you used for? And also what clearcoat?? Nice finished.
I love my DV1 guns, and love my iwata Kiwami. I never cared for the Supernova though. Never liked all the overspray and waste. Plus i like the low working pressure of my 3 dv1 guns. I know you like the Iwata W400 and Kiwami so its only natural you like the supernova
Super input
As a DIY guy, i enjoy a 700$ Spraygun and soon will buy my own
One of the best videos i have seen
Have you had any issues with the digital gauge psi readout being off ? A lot of guys have mentioned having to run an additional gauge before the gun.
Nice presentation.
Good job demo sir
Wow that's amazing work I have a question. can I use my paint gun to apply clear coat?
Just purchased the Masterpro 44..seems like a well put together gun. Thanks for the reviews. This should do fine for my few times a year purpose. I like that it came with 3 extra tips and the regulator...very nice..keep up the good work..any recommendations on a similar informative airbrush and custom paint channel?
How was it after a month of using it?
My personal Best guns DV1 and Iwata!! 3 years now!
Inherited my Dads paint equipment, and obviously there’s a huge difference now but I’m sure I’ll find a nice spot for that Binks on my wall in the new shop.
Brilliant guns
I've been watching a few videos and have been wanting to try spraying some of my pannels at home. People use guns with the paint tub on top and some people use it with it on the bottom. Which one is better and why?
Nice job 👌
Мне нравится как вы красите. Спокойно уверенно и без суеты
I value your opinion more than anyone regarding spray guns and paint. I paint slowly and the Iwata Kiwami is about my speed. I want to get a better base coat and clear coat setup. Satajet is much too fast. What is the best recommendation?
Which needle you running in the iwata? 1.3 or the 1.3hd
That WS400 is such a cannon. I cant believe how large the fan is with it turned in 3 turns.
Great tips man! Do you have any videos on best budget primer guns? Specifically guns that spray high build primer!
Good idea
Can you do a trigger stop or not when spraying (explained)? Ty i loved the video.
Hi, the DV1 digital can you change the battery of the gauge????
The new ws400 series 2 is great
Great video & insight, I'm new to the trade & considering getting a DV1 for base. What are your thoughts on DV1 with c2+ for clear. I bought one, but my tradesman wants me to use a pro lite with te20 cap
G’day mate well I have the exact same gun as you a DV1 1.3 C2 that gun is by basically based off the prolite TE20 1.3
Just remember that the DV1 likes 2 bar pressure or 28-29 psi
I set mine up just under 2 bar have the fluid at 3 turns out from closed
The fan all the way out and wind in till the analog gauge bumps up then I stop it’s a beast that way and have the gun 5-6 inches away from the panel. Goodluck with it N mate👍
Two questions. What are the sand papers that are the best and what is the best clear coating?
I'm still rocking the 3000b, I can get a very good finish with them guns
What's the best affordable option paint gun if I only paint Harley motorcycles?
ANI 160S from Italy any good? I've learned so much!
Thanks
what kind of compressor do you think is good?
Hi, When this gun shows 15-18 psi on its digital gauge its actually 25-28 psi. Just put and another gauge before the gun and you will see actual PSI .
Thank you
Thank you alot
Not sure why but I don’t get a good finish with the ws400 at 3 turns in on the fan yet lots of folks spray that way
I guess the dv1 is better with a 100l compressor? Great video
Your the man
Hello i have 2hp 88 liters 10.6 cfm conpressor this dv1 devilbiss is okay to use?no any problem sir thank you
I'd like to see more focus on personal saftey. Let's get the air fed masks going. Don't need anyone dying or needing a lung.
Hey just want start by saying I love your videos man! Got me into painting and just got my first clear gun. The Iwata LPH-400. Off subject have you painted any boats? What kind of paint is best for that?
I’m sorry. I haven’t but plan to !
@Paint Society brain I have question for you which one of these clears is the highest shine / spies hecker 8035 HS or sikken 2pack HS they both mix 2.1 ratio
Tops guys … impressive
You must try the new iwata ws400 1.3 series 2. For clear coat is amazing. Thanks for your videos 😊
What is your settings for clearcoat?
You have the number for new one.?
I bought it. What is your settings.?
Go Super Mario! I've done several paint jobs now with the Harbor Freight guns to teach me everything Brian says here is true. I think the fan is inconsistent, leading me to chase the wet edge and run it.. :/ Next job I'm investing in some new guns!
You are supposed to chase the wet edge when painting, if the fan is inconsistent it's likely the gun is dirty or your distance from the panel is fluctuating during the process
👀 very nice.
Where did you purchase the spray suit
When i lay down a wet coat of base over a lacquer that's been scuffed up with an 800 grit.. it ripples up the lacquer.. laying down a dryer coat works alot better...does the lacquer need sealing prior to basecoat?
Are you spraying lacquer over the existing paint? I've never sprayed that kind of line and I know it's very finicky. What I can say is you cannot mix different types of paint because they will adversely react with one another
At this time what would you say is the best basecoat gun and clear coat and tip for each?
i have 30 Gallon Husky air compressor , would that work to use the guns ?
Devilbiss gti pro lite all the way, lays clear like glass!
Really great great contents. Remind me of your old videos Brian which cover alot of basics and important steps in setup the gun and technique of applications. And this video just refresh everything especially using newer spray guns. Its like going to university of automotive painting. Keep it up! I think next may be the clear automization theory with white board and diagram and hands on 😅😅. 👍
Just bought the WS400 for clear coat after your high rating , can you tell me best gun you use for basecoats please ? Love your Chanel from the UK !!
Sikkens Standox ppg
What about the Fan Pattern Set Up?
Wide Open?
Here we go. Costing me more money. 🤣🤣🤣. Can you review the iwata wider 4L and compare it to the DV1 basecoat.
You seriously give us a great inspiration love from India 🇮🇳 ❤️
with the Iwata Ls 400 you don't have to do 26 to 28 psi, 17 to 20 psi with 2 turns in is the sweet spot..
Not on my regulator lol
How much $$$ for a good set up, without over thinking it air, gun, clean room and ppe right?
the DV1 is the truth for base had the DV1 clear liked it . .. I like the supernova more
Hi, i would love that you make a review of Cane spray guns, those are made in argentina.
Would also apollo 7700 for cars? I'm a Painter by the way and I'm think to expand!! Want to expand I'm going to expand 👍👍👍
DIY'er im looking for a good gun around $250-300 I have been looking at the FLG 5 any recommendations?
hey Jack, I'm a DIY'er in the UK, I have an FLG5. You will have found demonstrations and reviews on this gun, good ones being Tony's refinishing and The Gunman. They both rate it as great quality for the money. I agree, but the only thing you have to be careful with is that in the UK it is only available with a 1.4mm fluid tip, which is a tiny bit big for thinner paints like solvent basecoat. I tend to use the FLG5 for clearcoat only, because as a DIY'er you will be using HS clearcoat and will have the fluid dialled back from full, otherwise runs are very easy to get. It has a well big enough fan, I dial mine back a little which uses a bit less air. The finish I get is perfect with negligible orange peel. I have sprayed 3 cars with it now, it has been stripped down and cleaned many times and still works perfectly. Hope this helps.
Get the FLG-5 You'll be happy with it, or the Sharpe Finex 3000. That's it. Both guns under 300.00

Tha paint booth is really good. The overspray go out so fast. And. Is really quiet
Do you sell paint society hats extra?
Hey guys what clear are you guys using in this video and most of the time?
What is the best waterborne gun ?
Thanks for the great tips. I'm building a 53 Chevy 1/2 ton for drag and drive. I have never painted a car. I have painted my engine and transmission and small parts with Firethorn Red Pearl and clear. I do not have a booth I just make one out of plastic in the shop. I have a Fugi 5 stage turbine setup. It worked good for the parts I have painted with very little overspray. Do you think it will work on the body when I get there? Except for the cab it will be painted unassembled.
I am pretty sure he has a video using a turbine setup.
@@rlr69 Thank you I'll check it out.
The LS 400 is good for clear too hello from PR guys
You are the reason I'm 800 dollars richer.thank you for your knowledge you definitely earned my subscription
Brian i want to paint my fenders of my Tacoma in black what's the best paint i can use in black color my truck is grey i ned good info and tips thanks I'm smashing my like botton Texas style yahoooooooooo katakaboooooooooooooooom
Thanks for sharing, Guys! Question...I was taught many, many years ago that when making a pass, at the end of the pass the trigger is released on the gun, then applied again when the panel being painted is reached again. I noticed Mario didn't appear to be doing this when he was laying down the clear? I know I'm slow and old, but was I taught incorrectly, or has the process changed over the years? Respect! Enjoy! Be safe! Bro Harry
I was taught at the end of each pass to release the trigger but only to the point where paint stops coming through but the air continues to flow. It was drummed into me that you must never release the trigger completely. Mind you, this was back in the days of cellulose and single layer metallics.
@@ConesuelaLadyTailor Exactly!
You guys are not wrong I always release the trigger. But I do it quite fast
You can spray it both ways. The difference is partially releasing the trigger will save a tiny amount of material. Do it whatever way you feel comfortable and get the results you want.
Also, he's most likely releasing it halfway so that the fluid is cut off for a fraction of a second but not the air.
Can anyone explain how much better the dv1 B plus aircap is?
Plus is just for water base
@@PaintSociety thanks for the reply, just found somewhat of a data sheet on it and it uses less air and can operate at a higher pressure than the original
Hey Brian. Can't you have a giveaway so we could get one of your great Iwatta ws400 Guns.. it's not my technique it's the Short fan of the cheap guns that I use. It would be really cool for the weekend warrior if there was a website that would let you rent a decent gun. Wet sanding/aahhh. The rotary and I have been great friends for a while now. Lol. Ttyl
WS 400 SR I 1,3 HD or WS 400 SR II 1,2 HD (ECO) the best gun in time
I don’t know why everyone loves DV1? I have it and it’s an amateur compared to ws400 iwata !!!
Miss the longer videos
Like share and subscribe ✌️
That seems like a lot of overspray out of that Iwata. I’m not all that familiar with their model #’s. Is the WS400 not HVLP? I heard the W400 does an excellent job with clear but overspray isn’t one of its strongpoints. Now I’m a little worried it’s even more than this WS model.
The w400 and ws400 are not hvlp both run on 29psi for optimal results and yes over spray is very prominent when using either gun
For clear you do not want an HVLP you want an RP or a regular gun or something in between and hybrid that's where the w400 comes in it is my number one go-to gun I believe I've had it for almost 20 years now it can do bass and other heavier products for base I use lph 400 my w400 is an lv4 with a waterborne tip with the three Cuts tulip tip
That ws400,is it 1.3?..may I ask the air pressure?
Yes 27-29
@@PaintSociety thank you 😄👍
I wanted to ask you. How many clear coats do you usually put. I feel like if I do 3 coats total, on the 3 coat it starts to run.
2. I talked about this in the video 😀
As a guy that paints for a living in a high production facility we occasionally have to do a third coat of clear. If you find yourself needing a third coat make sure you give yourself more time in between the second and third coats then you would first and second coat. While two coats is generally the best way to do it, if you do need a third coat ya gotta do it. Give it a little time before you blast that third coat on.
@@joe2.017 I work at a restoration shop, why only two coats Joe?
@@warrenlewis3977 mainly for cost reason. Also two coats usually will give the OEM match your looking for. Third coats also take an extra 10-15 minutes.
@@joe2.017 for a production shop I can see that happening. At a restoration shop only two coats would be unacceptable. I spray the industry standard of 3 costs and then 3 more. I'm going to wet sand from 800-3000 then buff.
Iwata for the clear coat is the best spray gun but for base it’s tragic 😅
I’m being using ls400 for metallics and work incredible🤷🏽.
Thats funny you say 26_28 i find 28 to be the ecact perfect number anything above that the gun starts sounding diffrent. 28 is it!!
❤
