It's amazing how EVH could jump and run around on stage the way he did, and played it flawlessly the entire time.
One of Eddie's best live solos-- ever!
Ed was in an enlightened state this night. I've heard dozens of live boots of 5150 and the solos come nowhere near the otherwordly level of "Ed-ness" that this one does. An incredible moment.
The coke was good that night
Totally warmed up and in mood
Eddie's face always makes me smile lol
Is this the greatest live guitar solo ever?
It's gotta be up there. It has metal, jazz, prog and classical elements in it. And he's doing step aerobics with Sammy while cueing Alex at the end.
This or Tornado Of Souls - Megadeth with Marty Friedman.
Rest In Peace Eddie, thanks for the music.
Sammy injected life back into Van Halen, all the number one albums....
Steve Galloway he did do that
Steve Galloway yeah cause 1984 was a complete failure....
The biggest selling albums are VH1 and 1984, both 10 million plus each. Biggest selling Sam album is 5150 at 6 million.
I love this version better than the album, thanks to the added solo.
well this passed the test of time. I love it more now than ever, woo hoo
Time is relative......
This sounds so crunchy and amazing. I could listen to the opening riff forever and not have a problem.
Eddie Van Halen is the best guitarist of all time...
Yes indeed!!!
I'd put George Harrison and Mark Knopfler better. But for hard rock, yeah it's Eddie.
No Jimmy Hendrix. Jimmy page. Then Eddie
Neil Young.....lol
Anthony Varwig Page is like the worst live player of all time dude... Great songwriter, great guitarist in the studio and occasionally live. But when you regularly butcher your gems live over a long period of time...
I know Eddie sucked on the 04 tour and at times in 07 but he’s had more than enough incredible performances to look past that.
Eddies live tone during this era was so fire
A fact that doesn't get mentioned very often, but King Edward's stage presence was/is phenomenal! Every VH concerto I've ever been to I've been on Ed's side of the stage for that reason. Love watching him perform!!
WE LOVE YOU BIG ED.
PEACE FROM CALIFORNIA
The zenith of guitar creativity is gone my childhood my comic book superhero is gone Eddie Forever
It’s 2018 and this song is still relevant to me today. This band is my Beatles. This is rock and roll, pure and simple. Sammy’s lyrics are relatable today as to 1986. Eddie’s performance is timeless. Alex is superb. Michael is amazing. 5150 is my Let It Be.
You should write GG/Oscar and Grammy speeches.
One of my favorite songs of all time and this performance is perfection
RIP Eddie. Legend. This may be my favourite VH song.
So glad Sammy included this one on his tour this year. Gave me chills hearing it live
This is an example of what Eddie means to rock music. Amazing rhythm play, that solo, and that smile. Thank you for the constant smiles Eddie. And thank you for introducing 13 year old me to what real rock guitar is. Rest In Peace.
And the ability to make it better with epic parts added . Brilliant
Sammy & Eddie, they were GREAT together!
Rest in peace Eddie, you will be missed.
The chemistry between the four of them, this is legendary.
I was very shocked to read of Eddie's passing. Very fortunate to see them with Sammy and once with Dave. Would have thought Eddie was going to feel better and get them back for another tour with Dave singing. He was such a great guitarist and always smiled while playing.
The Cig burning top the neck isn't the only thing smoking! Solo shred
That right there is one of a kind, will never be reproduced.
the Bruce Lee of guitar , above wizard ,,, wherever that is 😀
And , I like my comment !!! 😎
Michael Jordan....
What guitarist doesn’t have a huge hole in their heart losing this man ❤❤
Eddie in his prime!!
Yeah from 1970's till 2020, his PRIME years, 5 decades. 50+ years
& still the King of licks, riffs, melodies, harmonies....how many guitar players has Eddie influenced
??? Pretty much anyone that picks up a guitar.
Pure unadulterated riff-age of the highest order. Timeless, musical talent.
Ed deserves all the credit he's getting for his otherworldly guitar work on this song, but Sammy hitting that note at 6:38 ...LIVE?! ...amazing vocal chops
And Eddies reaction to him hitting that note is awesome!!!!
You never have a true appreciation of Van Halen until you see other people try to play their music.
This whole show needs to be put out as a whole live album
My first concert ever, what a glorious time 5150
All I can say is “perfect”. This is flawless IMO. Ed’s always smiling, the band is tight and damn that note Sammy belts gives me the chills. They were on top of their game at this point
This made me cry. These days are gone.
I was at this concert I remember the cameras
That's cool dude...in New HaLen!! ✊😁
THIS is the official version of this song. Masterpiece
RIP Eddie Van Halen. Your music changed lives.
Indeed it did. Indeed it did. God blessed him and Alex, and they graciously shared with us. The heart is heavy this morning, but hearing and seeing helps.
there’s always one more…. RIP EVH
What strikes me is how much _fun_ they're having.
This video has been watch 1.06 million times. I think a thousand of them are by me.
What a great song structure. It's got it all.
sammy sing his lungs out whata great rock voice and EVH killed it
That riff. That fucking solo
We all miss him 🎸
Eddie was at his absolutely BEST here!!! It’s like he had electricity flowing through his hands!!!
Words cannot explain what a motherfucker of a song this tune is to play. Extremely technically difficult, and I am not talking about the solo. The rhythm parts. And yet there's ole EVH happy, smiling and dancing around. Amazing. Just amazing. A great, great song. A lot of the DLR-only fans feel this is one of their favorite Van Hagar songs.
Absolutely. This should have been the lead single off of the album, not Why Can’t This Be Love. This is vintage Van Halen.
@@MrSpeed-lt8gr Was going to say basically the same thing. Admittedly, I was in the DLR camp. My mistake, which unfortunately I didn't realize to many years later. Sammy has said it is his favorite VH song.
I've always loved this solo. Almost wish they made the original this way....
The solo alone is ...fuck! It's 5150. It's the solo i show people that aren't a fan like me. He is THE Guitar God of Guitar Gods. So grateful I was alive in the time of Eddie Van Halen. I miss you. #evh
The king 👊👊👊👊
5:47 What I always loved about EVH. Even with all the adulation that was heaped upon him for decades, he still seemed humble. His reaction to be called, "The King". I miss you Eddie
5:56 When Eddie tosses off the sheet at the perfect moment, sends a chill down my spine.
This verision always brings me back to coherency.
