      So I've got the new rig built and the gpu isn't getting any power. Not sure if it's the mobo or the psu. Tried both PCIe slots and nothing. I've got a 2060super and a 3080 and they both work just fine on the old pc. New psu is modular and the old one is part modular so I can't check the cables from the old psu and use them on the new psu. Pretty frustrated. You're not near NC by chance are you!? lol

    • @ThisBytesForYou
      @ThisBytesForYou  3 роки тому +2

      @@chadsmith80 I am in virginia, so kinda close, if I was visiting my mom in SC I could drive by, but no chance with covid right now. So the new PSU is modular, make sure you have PCIE cables, plugged into the correct ports on the power supply and make sure you are not using EPS cables by mistake.

But I somehow gotten this bug to want to build my first PC and see if I have the stuff it takes to do it. And you surely have a unique gift in making it look like a walk in the park. Your patience and calmness and carefully explaining what your doing is a breath of fresh air to a newbie. Thank God for people like you

      @@ThisBytesForYou You are so very welcome, I know that anyone can argue that well there are tons of videos out there that anyone like myself can find and learn basic things and from that maybe able to put a build together and even successfully get it to work, but not everyone takes the time to be thorough, careful and detailed sometimes leaving more questions than answers. So when you and a small handful of others like you take the time and have the patience such as you display in your teachings it is very helpful to the person like myself who really wants to learn and learn the right way. I will be using the same MoBo as in this video, ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING Wifi, with a AMD Ryzen 7 5800X and probably a Geforce 3060.
    My questions are:
    Will the ASUS ROG Strix 850w / 80 PLUS Gold PSU be a good fit for the build?
    And, should you always mount the PSU upside down? The case i will be using is Fractal Design Meshify 2 Compact.

      congrats my friend, very happy for you and I hope this video helps you out. Yes that will be perfect for the build and the fans facing down is correct, since it will be sucking cooling from the bottom, venting it through the rear of the PC. If the fan is facing up, it will be sucking hot air in the PC through the power supply, making the components warmer and becoming less efficient. No, you can use the 8 pin alone, it will provide adequate power to all cpus. The additional 4pin is for additional power needed when you have an overclocked CPU. For Moderately overclocked cpus, it's not needed but it is for the higher overclocked ones. If you don't overclocked it's not needed but it's not bad if you have nothing connected anyway. As you saw, I always connect both.

    Hello Igy. As ussual a great vid, with a lot of explications on how to. I know this is a "budget" config but i do have some questions for you, for better orientation.
    Do you think installing 2 SSD beside the Nvme is good or not?
    Personally i was wondering if installing 32GB Rams would be a big difference or not( i would like to go with RGB so...)
    Is it really gonna make a change if i install liquid cooling unit instead of the van
    and the last question is- is there a big difference beetwen AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Processor and the AMD RYZEN5 3600XT Socket AM4 (4.5Ghz+35MB)
    Thanks for your help and hope that my questions are not to lame

    • @ThisBytesForYou
      @ThisBytesForYou  3 роки тому +1

      yes, SSD's are fine as storage devices, I should have ordered a regular SSD for the secondary drive, but yeah its good. So Liquid cooling has its pros and cons. Pro is that it will keep the CPU nice and cool.... con... it reduces over all overflow. Now, if you mount the liquid cooling on the top, it will improve air flow, on the front, it is good, but not as direct as the top since it will help air pass over the RAM, VRM's, heatsinks, chipset, etc.
      the 3600XT has more cores and faster cores, along with it's IPC improvement, so it would be better getting that.
      Never lame my friend, its always great asking if you don't know, thats why I make these videos to help everyone out. I hope I have helped you my friend. Hi! I really hope you can help. I have the same motherboard. I tried the BIOS flashback button, it does not even light up at all. I tried 3 different USB sticks but no light at all. I built a ryzen 5 5700G on this ASUS B550F gaming wifi mobo and 2x8 crucial ballistix ram. It did not post, no display and had the orange dram light on. But the fans, aio and argb were all working fine, even the argb light selector on my ASUS TUF GT301 chassis. I cleaned the ram and tried to install it one by one but still the orange dram light. I thought the only thing left to do is to update the bios. I tried it with the full system but no light on the bios flashback. I disassembled everything and just have the motherboard now connected to the psu but still nothing. No light at all on the bios flashback. I don't know what to do anymore. I just want to make sure that the BIOS is updated to see if it fixes the orange dram QLED and no post error I am getting.

    Ummm I went to see if the parts are compatible this is what popped up, can someone explain, and does it greatly affect the PC, please
    Note: The Asus ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING (WI-FI) ATX AM4 Motherboard has an additional 4-pin ATX power connector but the Gigabyte P-B 650 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply does not. This connector is used to supply an additional 12V current to the motherboard. While the system will likely still run without it, higher current demands such as extreme overclocking or large video card current draws may require it.
    The motherboard M.2 slot #2 shares bandwidth with SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports. When the M.2 slot is populated, two SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports are disabled.

    • @ThisBytesForYou
      @ThisBytesForYou  3 роки тому +2

      The Gigabyte P-B 650 W 80+ bronze does not have an additional 4 Pin, it has a 4+4 which is used on this motherboard to connect to the EPS CPU power. The additional 4Pin is meant for when you are attempting to overclock a lot, small overclocks will be fine without it, it is not needed at all if you don't overclock aggressively.
      The disabling SATA ports is normal, that will happen on most if not all motherboards. In this build in particular, I am not using any SATA drives, only 2 x M.2 drives.
      I hope I answered your question?

    • @ThisBytesForYou
      @ThisBytesForYou  11 місяців тому +2

      The 4 pin cable is good for around 190 watts of power. The 8 pin is rated for around 320 watts, so the 8Pin can provide all the power you need, the 4Pin can be used for additional power to your CPU if you are doing hard core overclocking. On some builds I use the 8PIn and 4Pin, some I used the 8Pin alone, but I never use the 4Pin alone. As for Power supplies, i buy more than I need so that I dont need to buy a new power supply for every single gpu update making the gpu cost so much more. The 1200watt I have had for 15 years since works fine, the 1000Watt PSU's I have had for over 5 years work great, for example, this seasonic power supply (most power supplies are rebranded Seasonic power supplies) would be perfect for today and tomorrow: geni.us/vuyCXMt

The difference is the computers on cars is they are more like servers; meant to read data and adjust. Most methods of fixing computers is as ghetto as having another device do it for you. @ThisBytesForYou  2 роки тому +1

      I am confused my friend, I want to help you but I need to understand. If you are refer to a gaming PC, a gaming PC is a regular PC, only more powerful. A gaming PC generates more heat because it does so much more and requires sooo much more power than a regular web browsing, photo editing PC. A gaming PC is a perfect video editing machine, video encoder/decoder, workstation, super computer, etc.
      A power supply geared more towards a gaming PC, means it has a lot of power, because a gaming PC demands power.
      Power consumption and speed, usually generate heat, so you need better cooling but you also need to manage your cabling better. You need to build your machine in a manner that there is not a rats nest of cables strung across your PC. That rats nest of cables, while innocent and not placed there to cause harm, can be murder on your PC and cause a ton of issues. That is one of the first things I learned when I started working for Alienware.
      At Alienware, I started thinking I knew it all, because I had built computers, took me 10 minutes to build a computer from the ground up and they laughed at me saying, "Ha, well thats not going to work here". Now, it can take me sometimes 4 hours to build a PERFECT PC. That PC can browser the web, edit photos, chat on faceboot, instagram, linkedin, twitter, while ripping a bluray, encoding a video, editing a video while editing a photo and maybe playing a game.... all at once, because it has that much power and it can keep itself cool.
      So I ask you again, what do you mean Minus games?

      You should be sorry, this video is to show people how to get everything working, and basic wire management, not a guide to make it look 100% perfect. Show me some of the videos you have made to help people do this and you excellent cable management skills in that instructional video broken down to less than 30 minutes, I don't see any on your site though.

    Thanks for your help and hope that my questions are not to lame

      yes, SSD's are fine as storage devices, I should have ordered a regular SSD for the secondary drive, but yeah its good.
