can't believe this company can remaster all the cutscenes in destroy all humans but blizzard can't do it for warcraft 3
Ha
lol
The animations really are absolute shit compared to the original cutscenes though.. At least some of them.
But their legal team worked extra hard to make sure they don't lose another DOTA.

That would be a good one to remake. Sucks it got delisted from Steam.
I got my copy for free, though I can’t remember if it was from a store or from the publisher. It’s a single, standalone file, so it definitely wasn’t Steam.
I hope we get a remaster/make of the Mercenaries games or The Saboteur. The loss of Pandemic was truly a tragedy.
Absolutely. Mercenaries 1 was incredible and the saboteur is underrated as fuck. Pandemic made some real fun games
You and me both, bud.
Fuck EA.
@@breakrank5923 saboteur had great art design. Would love to see it modernized

There's so much a new version of that game could have. I wanna customize my monsters with mutations (perks) and have open world destruction modes too for the missions.

Just a bit depressing that these are the most exciting games.
Imagine, the gaming industry can't come up with games that are more interesting than the games they used to make 1-2 decades ago.
As someone who only plays single player, story oriented PC titles, I feel like an entire industry died out around me in the last few years. There are maybe one or two games a year that can truly scratch my itch.
Imagine trying to justify the purchase of a $1000 dollar PC just for Metro Exodus...
...still the best game I ever played.
I need ICO and I could die a happy fella...
Evan Harrison it’s the same with films. Total recall, Creed (essentially rocky reboot), X-men the list goes on. It’s like the creativity has gone. Saying that, some of the best games I’ve ever played are older ie UT99, Warcraft 3, Doom, Halo 2, DAH, RE3
@@Jcw4849 Well, we do live in a sort of ideological climate where you basically have to scrutinize your work of art down to the molecules if you want to avoid getting torn to shreds by accidentaly displaying some "-ism" that is not accepted by the mainstream.
That alone stifles innovation and creativity almost utterly. Games were better than movies for a long time, because games were a fringe entertainment and there was no media outlet to constantly manipulate the field by promoting the same crap and ignoring everything else into oblivion.
If idSoftware had to come to life in today's environment, it'd be torn apart and its creators' careers would be utterly destroyed.
Heck, even Max Payne III was "too outdated by modern standards", and thus the series was basically shuffled out of existence.
Even Wolfenstein, the game that literally was a "nazi killing power fantasy" had to be retconned totally by demonizing the Polish people.
Evan Harrison Agree. Politics has too much an influence on gaming. No one plays with dangerous ideas as they are scared of the backlash. Surprised it’s okay to slaughter demons in Doom Eternal without backlash on it not being inclusive to devil worshippers.

3:48 His full name is Cryptosporidium. That's also the name of the bacteria that causes a diarrheal disease, it's also commonly just called 'Crypto'. The devs were having fun beyond fun making this game back in the day haha
Now, remake War of the Monsters. That would be another dreams come true.
God, yes!
The original was casual fun. The fighting mechanics were not deep or complex as every character played the same but the characters were great & fun factor was excellent with siblings or friends. I hope though that if we get a full remake they actually make unique movelist for every character. Thus staying true to the original while improving upon it with a strong new fighting system.

I'm pretty sure its making fun of the red scare, not communism, at least in the examples you show
Yep. Painfully obvious as well
Yeah they don't directly make fun of communism until the second game
It's super bizarre to watch the review because of this, yeah. Not saying the game's "pro-communism" either or anything, but it's clear that at least this first one isn't mocking communism at all, it's mocking American culture of the time that thought there was a red spy under every couch- the ones being sniped at here aren't the Russians
@@marsf6080 Yeah I mean, while I am left-wing I am open to all things being mocked, including communism. It's clear that isn't the intended target. As you say it's mocking that American paranoia.
@@capitanoinsano I dont think its stupidity, just that people tend to place their own views onto jokes, see steven colbert being popular with the Republicans he was making fun of back in the early 2000's
Fun fact: you remember "Where the Hell is Matt?", the videos by Matt Harding of him dancing all over the world, that went super viral? He used to work at Pandemic Studios, the original devs, and _he pitched this game, as a joke._
Apparently it all went down after Microsoft shot down a more family-friendly pitch he'd worked really hard on, and he sarcastically suggested they should make a game where you play as an alien invader who wants to kill humanity, joking that they could call it "Destroy All Humans!" His co-workers thought it sounded hilarious, and eventually they began _actually planning it._
And no, despite common rumors, he _did not_ leave the company in disgust due to this, he just didn't feel like working on it and wanted to pursue an independent career; though the devs do credit him as the one who suggested the game should take a comedic, satirical tone parodying schlocky sci-fi horror.
Wow, what an incredible story, but honestly, they could've at least compensated him with cash for his ideas.
As nicely as GmanLives is going to explain the difference between a remake and a remaster.
There will be always that one journalist who doesn't get it.
Like Dan Roemer who embarrassed himself and his parents during the Battle for Bikini Bottom review.

Fun fact: The voice actor for Zim was also in a 90's stranger danger type of movie called and he played and voiced the character "Corny"
"Corny Holey" as he was called by the local alien child groomer perv.
octa-anal.
Now we just need a remaster for Stubbs the Zombie.
One of the issues (probably the main) with that game is the licensed music. It's a core part of the experience. It will be very costly to get it again for what it's essentially not very well known game.
Also, some levels need reworking balancing.
ive been waiting years man since my moms friends bf let me play it on his original Xbox when i was like 8. i would jump at that for current or next gen. you old heads had some gems.

@@patrickrobinsob1464 Fuck
I remember playing this back on the PS2 when I was super young and I never even got past the first couple missions cause I was to young to figure out what the game would want me to do (even with the tutorials on lol) and at that time the only video games I wanted to play were FPS's so I'm almost positive I just went in there trying to shoot anyone and everyone so that's probably a big reason why I never beat the first couple levels lol
2:58 “The Room” reference or “Rebel without a cause” reference? 🤔
Rebel Without a Cause. The Room's line in that film paid homage to it. Though it seems a lot of people are more affiliated with The Room then Rebel Without a Cause.
As the commenter above said, it is a reference to Rebel, which The Room tried to pay homage too. Tommy Wiseau was a huge fan of classic cinema and tried to emulate what he saw in the films that he loved. Unlike Tarantino however, his efforts are... questionable.
All that said, 'The Room' is much more of a widely known and celebrated modern cultural phenomenon than 'Rebel', so I feel that it was a missed opportunity to reference 'The Room' rather than 'Rebel' (again) in the remake. But maybe that is just me.
If someone in the studio actually watched the room before 2006 And referenced it they would have ultimate memer credit, but as the other fellas said is probably rebel
-REDACTED FOR IDIOT-
@@vahlok1426 Actually, The Room came out in 2003, while DAH came out in 2005.

If I can recommend a game to be remaked it be PS2's War of the Monsters! An awesome love letter to Kaiju/giant robot movies that had combat and destructible maps. Hell one of the features it sorely lacked was 4 player split screen that a remake could surely fix.
Now we just need a remake of Stubbs the Zombie.
As much as I’d love one, Disney owns the rights. Disney will just sit on it.
@@patrickrobinsob1464 NOOOOO! Disney has been awful in the game industry

Yeah that and the 3rd game Path of the Furon which I think would have so much potential for a remake another game i want to see THQNORDIC to bring back as a modern remake it is Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick
@@meatpie7166 hopefully if they do remake the 2nd and 3rd game for destroy all humans which will lead to a brand new Destroy all humans game from the ground up with way more weapons new and old from all games for the saucer and guns . I feel the making of the remakes will distract us while they go behind the scenes with another dev team (maybe the ones that made this remake ) to make the new game so when these beautiful remakes come out, then the new one comes out with a trailer so it would feel like it's only been a year since the first game came out . Since I'm guessing it doesn't take as long to do remakes then new games . So I think this plan could work .
@@thehunter7422 yeah just like how Activision brought back the Crash Bandicoot Trilogy and now there is a brand new Crash Bandicoot game coming and there's actually a new Evil Dead game coming out too but all we just know for now is just that there is a new game we don't know who the developers are and the publisher but im hoping its THQNORDIC remaking one of there 3 Evil Dead games that they published back in the day im hoping it is a remake of A Fistful of Boomstick and maybe if that remake becomes successful than we will probably get a sequel or just a brand new Evil Dead game
@@thehunter7422 and to me this is also what remakes should be like remake games that were not so popular and even games that were so bad but make them so much better than they ever were before like for an example Evil Dead: Hail to the King that game was terrible i liked it but I do understand peoples criticism with the game but i personally liked it but for a modern remake it can be really awesome just make the overall gameplay and combat 10x better
@@meatpie7166 remakes will make games better . I've been hoping for a crash bash remake for a long time especially when Beenox made Crash team racing remake . That was amazing . That remake is like 10 times bigger than the original game. They added new and old maps and racers and the story looked bigger with the extra animations and with huge kart and skin customization options . I'm hoping they give crash bash the same treatment too. People are saying that game didn't receive well ( it is true ) but people don't understand the biggest thing right now is the multiplayer market . Which they could give crash bash online multiplayer and other unlockables like more charecters and new minigame designs . Online multiplayer would be so fun for that remake I would be playing space bash all day lol.
Thanks once again for this review and your effort put into all your videos. Really appreciate it! I am enjoying your channel so much. Best regards from Germany 😁✌️
Now they need to do a remake/sequel for Rebel Without a Pulse.
As much as we would all love to see a remake of that, Disney owns the IP now sadly.
As a random note, can we appreciate the historical accuracy in the US military equipment in game? We see M24 Chaffees, we see those old GMC cargo trucks, and the uniforms are mostly historically accurate (although they’re late WW2 European theater uniforms and not Korean era uniforms)
I'd kill for a sandbox version of this game. No crappy stealth sections and reloading at the last checkpoint, just a large world to destroy and screw around in. Perhaps if the remake does well enough they'll make a proper sequel.

6th generation was an awesome time to be a gamer. It was back when developers took wild or silly ideas and ran with it. There were so many gems like this game. Nowadays, everything has to be a triple-A, $200m game, or your typical 8-bit-looking indie title that looks like the last 70 indie games that came out in the last month.

@Seth Hultkrantz They can't finish that Postal 4 fast enough, eeeh ?)
Carrion was cute, though. Check it out. Oh, who am I kidding... You already did :)
@Seth Hultkrantz Sometimes I wonder why nobody had balls big enough yet to make a proper serial killer simulator. It's not even all that hard, really - just make up a rogue-like-generated city, a dozen of animated menus (while at home, while at work, while on the sub, while at the workshop, in the gym, in a pub/strip joint, planning of said serial killing etc.), a couple of meters your character should manage like sanity, craving of the beast within and a social mask, public's stress level. Then all that is left is to do is think up a clever way of minimalistically portraying mark's house, a night public park or a general road home, basically a location, and then all that is left is preparation and execution. You don't even really need to portray the murder, player's imagination can do all the needed work, all you need is to imply it heavily. With the game getting harder and harder as the killings go on, public strenghtening security, random crimes being commited by a copycat, forcing you to smartly contact the police to declare them to be frauds. You making up a monicker, a symbol. You getting a family to fortify your good guy image. You deciding to end it all either through a suicide or some kind of a bigger crime like getting on top of a high landmark and just starting to snipe innocent bystanders, with the final score declaring your final serial killer rank. A bunch of other cute and fun gameplay mechanics here and there that pay homage to history's worst criminals.
I wonder why nobody made that yet. I've seen much more complex games made.
This game could be the ultimate relaxation for me personally.
For clarity's sake: I am not evil, relax, people. I just really, really love imagining myself doing horrible things from time to time, because god knows - people just keep on giving you a reason to be angry at them without fail. Have a good night.
@Seth Hultkrantz Very true. Oh, you reminded me of "rapelay" ! :D Haven't heard that name in years !) Never played it, though, I believe it was kinda hard to instal or something, so I never bothered. Remember "Hatred" ? That color-blind classic-Postal-like game ? Waaaay too edgy for my tastes, too little self-conscience, kind of dull too, but boy oh boy was it's scandalous nature the best advertisement for it !) Same here - a proper serial killer simulator could only benefit from idiots screaming their necks off about how "morally bankrupt" it is, making it a advertised and if it's done well people that are not overreactionary cretins could actually give it props for well-executed gameplay. Or something :)
@Seth Hultkrantz I knew there is an audience for something like that. I'm sorry for being pathetic. But truth be told - I love doing that, because it always has an opposite effect and only further confuses the normie reader (but shhhh, don't tell 'em it's on purpose :). Okay, this is enough pampering for my ego, thank you for your time and have a great week yourself, mine is not yet ruined, but you know how this here reality works - for something good to happen you've got to work tirelessly for it and for something bad to happen... you just basically have to wait for it. Byeeee ;3
@Seth Hultkrantz

That'll be amazing
Invader Zim is genius.
DAH! was my first pre-order at gamestop. For my pre-order bonus on waiting for the game to come out was a infamous movie from 1959.. "Plan 9 From Outer Space." My god it was laughable but it was so good lol
i’m glad it’s a remake and not a remaster as it does add more quality such as graphic and audio since it’s easier to work with it if you remake it instead of updating the graphics. Alot of the gameplay changes are widely acceptable in their form. Weapons usage variety is forced in this which is fine since it’s done pretty naturally i.e. your alien weapons don’t get ammo from human weapons like most modern shooters forcing you to swap to other weapons until you can transmogrify something into ammo for you. The ship was also improved since in the original game the angle the death ray would work at was a bitch to get right since hit boxes were smaller in 05. improvements to audio quality is just so we can hear Zim i mean Pox better seeing as he was hard to hear at times in the original.
they're not making fun of commies, they're making fun of the Red Scare
THIS Seems like it flew over this guy's head
That's some rich whole fat irony right there.
That is quite the truth. I think he was looking at the second game when he was saying that everytime.
Gggmanboss was just pulling our leg and checking that we are actually following his speech :)
I love Gman's reviews but I think it's pretty hilarious that he believes the game is making fun of commies instead of satirizing the anti-commie fearmongering of the McCarthy era and onwards
McCarthy didn't go far enough
Yeah, that part kind of flew over his head
Let's not forget that Crypto likes Rammstein! That trailer was FIRE!
This game always reminded me so much of Stubbs The Zombie, but an alien version. (Played that one first cause I only had a PC and didn't have a console at the time)
Espeically with the retro sci fi 50s asthetic. I hope to god that game gets a good remake like this one did.
Edit: okay cool it's not just me that thinks of Stubbs when seeing/playing this game too. :D
