- Join Crypto 137 and Invader Zim as they wage war against humanity in this classic 1950s American satire Destroy All Humans. Released at the tail-end of the original Xbox and PS2, this sandbox adventure flipped the norm and let us be the invaders. Having so much cool alien tech and open destructible environments with a GTA styled threat level is a blast. And what sets this game apart is the humor, full of satire and never takes itself too seriously. The Destroy All Humans remake added lots of new content, simplified achievements, and we can only hope the other games in the series can get this level of treatment.

I really really hope so. My dream would be a remake of 2, which is a way more advanced game. Then maybe they destroy all humans 3 or something. Stop remakes when it fell off a cliff

I'm hoping they remake 3. It never got patched so it's still a buggy mess. I thought it looked really cool and would love if they tried again. Other than ironing out the bugs, the graphics already look pretty good! Not much to change there.
@@zacharyperlee4179 longer story with a better interconnected plot. Larger more complicated levels that were more open world like. They fixed the upgrade system in the remake but the upgrades got a major overhaul to be better in 2. Abducting people to use in the DNA splicer to unlock things was cool. A lot more characters that Krypto interacts with who are human both enemy and friend. And its the 60's. For real though the levels are much better.
The only thing missing from that Rod Serling impression was the cigarette. Also, that doo-wop rendition of the DK music is freakin' great.
It might have been based on Crisswell from Plant 9 From Outer Space/The Parody Narrator based on him from the start of the game

It’s important to note that when Jirard refers to achievements in the “original game” he’s referring to the trophies from the HD Remastered version that came out a couple years ago. The actual original game out in 2005 on the PS2 so it didn’t have any achievements
Oh. I was wondering about that. I just thought it was something like skill points in the Ratchet PS2 games.
TayR0C yeah it kept bothering me that he was saying that but the unlockables in the original were your rewards for collecting the probes. I think the reason why Ratchet and Clank had skill points is because Insomniac used them in Spyro and wanted to carry them over.
@@CharlieZColt I loved the skill points in Spyro and Ratchet. I even got all 100 in Ratchet Deadlocked. Now they're required for games.
TayR0C as someone that stopped at up your arsenal, that’s very impressive. Personally I’m just sad that in the Spyro Reignited Trilogy you don’t get the guide pictures reward for getting all of them like you did back in the day

I love that you can learn the fact the villain is female by reading the mind of specific agents earlier in the game. They even reference that people aren't supposed to know that yet.

My favorite bit was the one scan line that essentially says "Wait, all of these houses look the same, where's mine again?"
You can tell by her voice. I figured it out the instant I first saw her. Lmao even figured out the why before she said why.

I was excited when I heard about this remake but not because of this game specifically, even though I did enjoy it on the PS2 and am having fun with the remake. My primary reason for getting it was just to help boost sales so then hopefully they'll remake the second one, and that's the one I really want.

@@TylerPerry827 I think Remakes like the ones you stated are how remakes should be. It familiar but it some new things that make it worth it. If they remake the second one in the same way, that would be amazing!

I remember first playing Destroy All Humans on PS2 as a demo on a demo disk you get from a game magazine. It had others games too. I wanted the full game but as a kid I didn’t get it. Great times.
I remember that demo disc, I’d play it over and over again for months as a kid until my parents got it for my birthday

This game was stupid fun with a clever story.
The fact that Orthopox is voiced by the same guy who voices Zim makes these games a lot more wholesome to me.
I loved this game when I was younger, I just recently played through the original and didn’t even realize they where making a new one, also just discovered this channel like a week ago and I’m loving it lol

This video is such a high bar of quality, as always. It has made me realize I really want Jirard to run a proto-twilight zone style show as a way more endearing Rod Sterling.
Managed to Platinum this game. Some challenges were fun, others were complete torture. Took nearly an hour for a race in Capitol City and a rampage in Area 42.

7:58 Love the reference to Twilight Zone's "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street". Clearly captures the satirical themes of Destroy All Humans and its portrayal of people on Earth.
This game will always be a personal favorite as it marks the day I worked my ass off to buy my own console (PS2) at 8 years old and ever since been getting my own things.
I love how he's talking about how themes of this game are all artistic and intelligent and I am just sitting here looking behind him and thinking "Oh damn, they made action figures for the movie VIRUS? That seems like a bad idea and I want them."

Man, it sounds like this remake was tailor-made to make it easier to 100%. Too bad the probes are as tedious as I remember. Loved the Twilight Zone framing device for all this.
I think the game was always easy. We as gamers just grew up and became more skilled.
Ahhhh the fondest of memories of committing mass murder and destruction with electric guns, flying Disks, and suicidal air strikes. Good times. Well ok the second game not this one but still.

Here's hoping they remake Destroy All Humans 2 (And i'd like to see a remake of Path of the Furon in all honesty, I think that game had potential but it also had a few problems, problems that could be fixed in a remake)
I really love how the basically take all the tropes and basically just turns it up to 110 which is why I love this game.
I remember being interested in trying this game when I was younger. Never did though. Not sure I’ll play it now, but it does still look like a stupid fun time.

Warning for those thinking about playing Destroy All Humans remake, the silhouette boss fight will piss you off beyond belief. She does not fight fair, like literally she does not fight fair using unnecessary firepower just to kill the player in the game.
But once you beat that final boss fight you will find yourself cussing out the fictional character that you just defeated in the game in the mist of your celebration, because the boss fight takes a lot out of you as a gamer.
5:52 What you said there reminded me of a friend when the sequel came out. He said that since the sequel has Crypto attacking the rest of the earth, that means he attacks Canada (Where we live) So he refused to play it.
Canada was not a level in Destroy all Humans 2. I never played the sequel, but even then, I knew my friend was the biggest moron I ever met.
Always love the videos, Jirard. Richard Horvitz has done lots of great voices. Loved Zim, I remember Daggett also, and he really has a great voice for neurotic Moxxie from Helluva Boss.
I loved Destroy All Humans 1 but 2 has always been my favorite. It has the same sort of humor and it fleshes out the story a bit more than the original did. I really hope that DAH 2 gets a remaster soon and if Jirard can complete it

Well technically, the Locust in Gears are aliens as I believe the game is set on a planet called Sera. So you were right!
I mean depending on how you look at it in that game you are the aliens invading another planet where the natives decided they don't like their surface neighbor ass holes.

I remember playing this so long ago. I really remember when my level textures glitched out in the city and I could see all of the collectibles.
Destroy all human 2 is a MUST. That one was just such a FUCKING MASTERPIECE
I'm actually surprised you had so many deaths in your run. It might be because I maxed out my Crypto early, but even on that mission where most of them came from, I actually find it difficult to die in this version.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one to struggle with the area 42 rampage. Damn thing took me an hour to do.
I'm hoping we see a DAH2 remake this time next year, as much as I loved this game, I remember loving that one so much more.
Fighting the Blisk and charging their moon base would look so amazing on new hardware.

But my metric for "franchise" is three or more games (bye bye Gravity Rush, at least for now) and I DO also factor in franchises licensed from outside mediums. The big one you're missing as an honourable mention? HULK, the next most important superhero character in games after Spider-Man and Batman.

6 Years ago, I started liking music videos as a way to keep them in a folder, I now have over 700 liked songs. This video was the closest that folder ever came to letting a non music video in.
This game is the antithesis to last of us part 2; it’s supposed to be fun and enjoyable.

I was shocked when I heard 68 hours of total playtime. I platinumed the game in 17 hours.
9 hours to just finish all but one story cheevo and the rest of various cheevos minus 3 star everything and missions and 100%. So 68 hours seems right for clean up minus no guide

That HoloBob achievement, fuck that thing. I was stuck on 37/40 for the longest time. I didn’t have internet back then, so I was just taking over every character in every stage.
Love the style and effort you put in to this episode
I was a tester on this game for PS2 and Xbox back in 2005. Somewhere in the Xbox version there is a bug that only happened one time. Anyway, I managed to use a bomb to flip a tank up into the air, then it landed on the flying saucer. If you did this next to a hill it would push you under the ground, where you could fly around and see the "destroyed" buildings and such. Unfortunately I didn't get that on video (we used VCRs to record gameplay, that's how long ago this was) so I sat there for hours trying to recreate that and couldn't get it to happen again, thus I doubt they devoted time to fixing it. Good times.
God I fuckin loved that game series. I have such fond memories playing the second one with my little brother when we were kids
