8:08 Tony loves his mother so much, he is able to communicate with her in his final moments despite not having with a head or even mouth to talk from. F's in the chat for Tony 😇
this game was the only game where I felt bad for dying/getting the protagonist killed. each thing Tony says with his last breath really tugs at my heartstrings
The whole game is his final moments after getting shot during the mansion attack. At first sight it seems like you are just given control of the character and can survive the attack if you play well enough. However if you look carefully at everything going on you will notice that the entire story is just a hallucination. Here are a few clues I found: 1. When Tony goes after Sosa's partners on of them says "You're supposed to be dead. Sosa killed you." 2. Tony meets a man who calls himself The Sandman (voiced by the same actor who played Manny). The Sandman is a mythical character in European folklore who puts people to sleep and encourages and inspires beautiful dreams by sprinkling magical sand onto their eyes. In this case it could mean that Tony is "sleeping", is in a coma to be more precise and he is imagining himself getting revenge on Sosa. 3. Tony receives a catalog containing different product he can order. One of those products is a stuffed flamingo, but the catalog describes it as "stuffed pelican". In the movie Tony is seen watching flamingos on TV and he says their are pelicans. The reason the catalogue makes the same mistake is because it was created by Tony, in his imagination.
definitely one of my favorites. It does feel a little repetitive, but the randomized missions kind of make up for it. The artwork and voice acting really holds up. Something about 80's and video games just feels right. To me this game stands right next to vice city. My attraction to open world games started with Driver 1. Vice City and Scarface both have similar qualities in scenery and era, so they just make sense to me to have fun with. Scarface introduced so many new mechanics that felt like Vice City 2. It's a blessing that we even got a Scarface video game in the first place!
"Scarface just has so many subtle details in its design. For example, if you look very closley, you can actually see that Al Pachino's head is not actually attached to his body."

Scarface is the only gta-esque game i played in which money is valuable from beginning to end. You always need more than you have and you have to work to get it (thankfully, without the whole thing turning into endless grinding) I wish more games in general had a more balanced economy, im tired of always drowning in worthless money.
I loved this game! I still remember my father barging in our room asking “What the fuck is going on?!” After he over heard me and my brother talking about how much coke me and my brother just sold and how we were shorted and ahold kill the buyer later! Haha Great times!

If you get bored in miami for some reason just sneak your way into the bahamas lol. You had so much to do when you think about it, its just waaay too underrated.
Such great memories of this game. I remember renting it from a local video rental store on Halloween, and had to have it under the tree at Christmas. Was the only thing I wanted that year.
"What are you look at? Beat it!" LOL I forgot about all the tedious cocaine collecting situations in the game. You forgot to mention that both Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong had voice roles, as well as several of the actors that played in the original movie, a couple portraying their roles from it. The PS2 game has a making-of bonus disc as well.

I played this when I was young ,it felt like a more deeper gta style game and I loved it ,it did stuff that gta didn't at the time and is still worth a playing today
Good review. The game succeeds at what it tries to do, its biggest downfalls being the ultimately repetitive gameplay loop, and the fact that when you gain rep and become a real kingpin with an empire of sorts, you still have to micromanage everything when they should've leaned more into the "empire" part and let you hire people to do everything while you do bigger things and manage the empire from the top. Basically a Part 2 after the grind. But that would've required a bigger vision and budget.

i love how tony shooting the enemy on the left or right only using his right hand like how badass when you shooting someone with ak 47 only with one hands
At 6:30 I can say that in the Xbox version I noticed that if you leave the control down and not move Tony he would change his position and even do a movement that resembles to someone sniffing from his hand and blocking a nostril with the other
Played this non stop for several months when it first came out. Still one of my all time favorites I ever played. You did however miss an easter egg in the game. You could swim, but do it to long and you start hearing the Jaws theme playing. Then a great white would eat you if you couldn't get out of the water in time. lol
I remember my friend brought this in PS2. The intro is "WOW", being curious me I searched the movie too. Ya, they should polish & remake this. Tony Montana character is much more suited in this kind of game than all GTA characters yo.
The thing about the music being so hiphop-oriented is because scarface (the movie) has become hugely popular amongst a lot of rappers who saw tony montana's rise and fall and thought "this guy's a role model", and around the time the game came out there was even a remastered version of the film that came out, but which replaced all of the original soundtrack with hip hop music. People didn't like that very much so the next re-release came with the original soundtrack as it should be.
Great review as always but i noticed a little mistake: the renderware engine was not used for the first three gta games but the first gta games that were in 3d or let's say real 3d.
To prevent enemies from attacking your businesses you just need to destroy all gang hideouts in the given territory. Game has amount of those hideouts listed in statistics. So just drive around, find all of them, then destroy. Then you'll also have enough cash to buy the businesses. Bonus tip: Shooting from vehicle makes the vehicle take the damage, not you.
I love the Scarface movie and I love the game as well. Finished the game many times and are still playing it now. It has many repetitive side missions but it is never dull, and if you're good at them you'll make more money fast and don't have to do them so often. The game world has more life and souls than GTA. You can pretty much talk to every NPC in the game. There are 8 levels of reputation levels and the NPCs will say different things according to Tony's reputation. Simply flashing a gun out in the public will alert the people and summon cops, and don't think you can escape by killing the cops, because their bigger guns will kill you eventually. The gunfight is the liveliest among other games. It's rare to see a game that counts taunting as a game mechanics. Every encounter with enemies is a new experience, with how they throw insults at you and you kill them instantly while taunting them to increase your balls, makes the fight a lot less feel like a fight against soulless AI. Shooting different body parts is another plus. Shooting games are getting boring with how they always target the head and it's getting ridiculous, at least for me. The game makes us have a choice of what body part to target, which gives the players different taste. The lock-on targeting system is unique. Though I rarely uses it, it appears to make the game easier and more enjoyable. One of the missions in the game is the drugs distribution mission and even if it is tedious it never lacks excitement and adrenaline, and it requires the whole game world map knowledge to master the mission and do it smoothly with minimum damage. And I don't see the need to jump. It makes no difference, it's still an awesome game even if the character can't jump. And reloading is a tactical move in real life. You get a full clip of rounds in expense of being vulnerable for a moment. Slowing your movement while reloading makes a whole lot sense and actually works as a challenge for players who tend to reload after every shot or two, reminding them that guns are not a bullet hose. Overall, it's an underrated game deserves a remaster.

8:08 Tony loves his mother so much, he is able to communicate with her in his final moments despite not having with a head or even mouth to talk from. F's in the chat for Tony 😇
Kkkkkkk
this game was the only game where I felt bad for dying/getting the protagonist killed. each thing Tony says with his last breath really tugs at my heartstrings
Same here
The whole game is his final moments after getting shot during the mansion attack. At first sight it seems like you are just given control of the character and can survive the attack if you play well enough. However if you look carefully at everything going on you will notice that the entire story is just a hallucination.
Here are a few clues I found:
1. When Tony goes after Sosa's partners on of them says "You're supposed to be dead. Sosa killed you."
This is one masterpiece of a game with mechanics that GTA IV would later use. It also has the GREATEST opening level in any videogame EVER.

definitely one of my favorites.
You do realize they're gonna censor every fun thing out of this if they ever decide to remaster it, right?

I LOVED this game! This to me is one of the most underrated games of all time! I’m actually thinking about replaying it sometime this year lol.
Fun fact: the singer of Motörhead, Lemmy Kilmister is voicing a dealer in the game
One of the best games I've ever played back in the day. I would love a remake of this one.
His rage mode and the things he says while in it will be remembered forever. 🥰
