The biggest thing this channel has taught me is that blind people don't magically cope with not being able to see, they're just a bit better at navigating with only hearing and touch.

I'm not visually impaired, but I have trouble gaging distances and have trouble with vertigo. So, I constantly bump into tables, walls, door/doorways, people, objects, etc. I also hit my head getting in and out of cars all the time. I have so many scars and bruises. It's not fun.

I may not be blind but i injure myself also pretty often. Especially one time on my birthday i walked no i ran straight into a glass door. And it was so embaressing because on the other side my mum and aunt were sitting half laughing half worrying (heck how do you write that). It must have looked like in a cartoon when the characters just walk into a glass door and their face is squished together XD

he could have heard kids laugh at him when he made mistakes as a kid, that will make you embarrassed too. In fact I would consider being laughed at to be more of a trope of embarrassment than any visual cue.

These sound rather familiar, though I've not had nearly that many. I remember once being really dizzy and in a rush, and somehow I managed to miss a whole damn tree with my cane. It knocked me on my ass, cut my face a bit, forehead was swollen for a while. Kinda embarrassing to miss something that big, but dizziness & blindness really don't mix well..
Neither does temporarily losing hearing. I had my ears obstructed a couple times, and damn it's disorienting to not be able to hear my cane tip. I know you can learn to do that - deaf-blind people do all the time - but not a skill I have. :-/

Nick Ross Yeah, but clothes are a necessity. If you go out naked, you'll get arrested for indecent exposure. So, if you have to wear clothes, may as well look nice to others if not to yourself. No one's gonna be pissed at you for not having a tattoo, and Tommy himself would have no reason to care (because he can't see the tattoo anyway). So, there's really no good reason to do it.

Tommy, my worst experience with ice ironically happened when I was still fully cited. I was about nine years old walking to school with my mom in the winter. We went to cross the street, but neither one of us realized that the street was completely iced over. As we were crossing, the both of us slipped and landed right on our butts. The street happens to be a downward slope as well, so we slid down the street. Funny thing is, by the time we were done sliding down the street we had almost reached my school, LOL

Why don't blind people wear hats or headbands with antennae to feel if something is at their head level? The equivalent of the white cane, just pointing upward. It could be two springs or something similar. Actually, why don't I wear that, I'm not blind but I'm tall and bump my head all the time.

"What, you dress yourself this morning, Tommy? What happened?" Brutal... Well, I guess it would be MORE brutal to the non-blind person who did dress you. Speaking of which, do you just own neutral colors so you always match, or do you have someone who coordinates for you? Man, it would be really mean to throw in random brightly colored clothes in the mix, so randomly you would go out looking like a crayola accident.
