@@jaacksun4674 Watching Chris’ videos then Thatboatguy has inspired me to get my 1985 Sears Gamefisher back in the water. I have a badass Tohatsu 25 two stroke on it. They have been sitting for 14 years.(Too busy working OT to raise 8 kids.) Now, with retirement a few years away, it’s time to get back to yanking fish out of their element. I’m loving the boat episodes.

Just an FYI, if you didn't already know those dry chemical extinguishers after sitting for years even though they are in the green, they won't work properly. Take a rubber mallet and beat the sides and rotate end for end until you hear the powder sliding freely and not in a clump, from end to end. Should be done once a year.

Chris on the old style tnt you have to push the middle button and the top button or bottom button at the same time to make the TNT go up or down . That is why you see red on half of the middle button and the top button it red and the bottom is Green . The inline six it a GM Truck motor and its the best combo for a boat and drive you will ever have on a boat I love it . Again push both buttons for tilt or tilt down

Love everything you do bro. Been wrenching on cars since the early 80's as a hobby/passion. First car my father gave me was a 1944 Willys MB2 War Jeep. Moved on to many others incuding my high schools ride of a 1977 Firebird I bought from the Chef at the restaurant I worked at for $900 in 1985. I wasn't even 16 yet. Grabbed a 1985 Mustang GT with low miles in 1989 while I was in college for $5,000. The list is long thereafter. My only advise, do it while your are physically able. I've pullled motors myself and done other stuff to remedy a situation that wasn't physicallly advisable. Work smarter not harder.

I had an orange 1972 Caravelle Stingray for 10 years, gave it to my sister and she ran it another 15. Great boat, used it a lot on Lake Michigan, nice deep hull on them. It had the ubiquitous Mercruiser 140hp 4 cylinder (GM) so it was great on fuel. Hard to believe the 6 cyl. version only gets you 20 more HP. I did have to replace the exhaust manifold despite it always being a fresh water boat. Mine had a steel gas tank up in the bow that rusted out. Had to remove the entire top half of the boat to get it pulled out. My brother welded up all the pin holes he found after sanding it down and popped it back in. That was when I still had it so it made it another 15+ years without developing any more rust holes. I'm going to guess that this boat was probably made in the mid 70's. There's a lot of stuff on it that's identical to what was on my 72 so I'm thinking it's got to be within a few years of '72.

31:50 those hydraulic crimpers are AWESOME. I bought the exact same set from Harbor Freight about 10 years ago. I don't use mine for electrical cables, but i have been in charge of putting up a 200ft tall Christmas Tree "shaped" light pyramid every year that's made from 12 strings of LED rope light, and each string is 200 ft long and each one is hung from the hook of a construction crane and is hanging vertically under its own weight, so to prevent the rope light from tearing itself in half, we attach each stand to its own piece of 1/8" stainless steel wire rope (cable) to help support the weight of the rope light. Plus each stand has separate pieces of cable attached to it about half way up that runs to the ground at an angle (away from the light strand) and gets ancored to the ground, this keep the rope lights from getting blown around side to side in strong winds etc. anyway.. long story short, 12 strings at 200' long each, plus 2x 100' stabilizer legs for each light strand, youre talking about 4800 ft (almost a mile) of stainless steel cable, each one needs dozens of aluminum eyelets, ferrules, connectors.. all of which need to be hydraulically crimped, by hand, in the field, outside in October/November in the upper Midwest when its freezing out, and my little harbor freight hydraulic crimper (just like the one in this video) has worked FLAWLESSLY going on 10 years now!
Best investment ever! No regrets here. The only thing i ever had happen is occasionally the head will unscrewed from the body a little too much (it kind swivles) and if it unthreads too much the hydraulic oil will start to weep out and make a mess next time you go to grab it out the case. No big deal though, just twist it tight (dont over tighten, the threads are fine) and it seals back up perfectly.
    Awesome tool! 👍

I've had a lot of boats over the years and have taken the GM straight six and Mercruiser from boat to boat a few times. My first boat was a Galaxy with a freeze cracked block. Tried to weld/braze it, waste of time. Bought a 265 engine from a salvage yard cheap because I pulled it myself from a bread delivery truck. That combination lasted for years. Strong motor for skiing. If you ever go to a stock GM 6cylinder like I did, the only differences I found was the marine version has stainless steel freeze plugs, and the head dowels are different. Water pumps are supposed to be different but I never found any difference.

NNKH im here because of the boats and im all for it. ive only been on a boat a few times as a kid but was interested in things that could be wrong with one and how to fix it. after watching your vids its takin all the fear and guess work out of owning a boat

If it has an engine/motor and it's been sitting, it's fun. I personally love the boats, heavy equipment and very old 'stuff'. Keep `em coming Chris!
