I will use EEVEE mainly for my animations, and cycles for my high quality renders. As EEVEE is super cool for that real time rendering effect, but surely it has its limitations where Cycles excels at. Having both options is dope as hell though. Nice tut thanks for the assist.
Ok, very basic video, but you should mark the video as "outdated" at 2 points: Tip 2: Cycles and Eevee light power values are now the same since the last update. Tip 4: The "soft shadow" setting is a mess. Don't enable it - it just creates some more shadowmaps around the origin shadow and looks awful. Instead you can set the shadow softness directly at the setting of the light. (And don't forget to enable contact shadows)
soft shadow option is great, just keep the shadow resolution lower or scale your scene smaller. When selecting a light source, the Light radius option plays a big role in shadow softness. Soft shadows can make your eevee renders look real while Without softshadows, you'll be getting inaccuracies, especially in Hair or objects with subsurface. Never render in eevee without softshadows, learn how to manage it.
Thanks for another clear, easy to understand tutorial. I have been working with 2.8 and was confused about what was going on with screen space refractions in eevee and why I could not get reflections from a crystal/glass object on a plane. Now I know. Please keep making these awesome tutorials.
You're an amazing teacher. I saw your other tutorials. Such good information. Please keep making more frequent videos to teach us, especially with Blender 2.8 and EEVEE :) Using these 5 tips for Eevee, can you show us how far EEVEE can be stretched in performance. Thanks
Great video and tips!! But why do none of these videos show the actual most important next step, baking the lighting? Along with reflection cube maps. I feel you are leaving out half of Eevee...
@@JeremyWeed since Eevee is a realtime engine, some calculations like global illuminations are not available or require different techniques, this because of speed. A _baking_ is a process where a texture is created (an image) that stores these values to be used on realtime engines (or even on raytracing engines like Cycles again for speed). Different realtime engines have a feature where you can make this baking on the fly by adding objects to the screen and selecting the volume where the baking takes place. In the case of Blender, by pressing Shift-A there's an option called Light Probe, that allows you to add these volumes. After this you have to go to the Properties Tab and on the Indirect Lightning section, you can press the different buttons to bake the light. The viewport will be updated after these with the results.
im using 2.9 and this video still helping me. especially for shadow, in eevee im always struggling with soft shadow that exist in every shadow. but after controling Light threesold. it becomes like what shadow i see in cycle! Thank you so much!
Vince Clark was saying when he started Erasure that he wanted synths to be synths - why sound like somehting else? Coming from LightWave, I started rendering stuff like it was 1995 (no ray tracing as it was slow, area lights where new then etc.) and the results popped! I'm loving EeVee as its got that freshness that looks CG but different and even painterly.
I'm impressed, it looks like it's the opposite of the two rendering engines, it's very interesting and it will avoid many problems for our rendering, thank you again to you!
I spend 45 minutes to figure out how to get glass like object in eevee and gave up, I watched this video today and helped me a lot thanks for the awesome content!
Actually you CAN make multiple objects (more than 2) see through from one to another in EEVEE - you need to set up the materials correctly using the principled and Transparent shaders for each object to make it work. You can also get over the issue of reflections of objects with refractions by using light probes.
Thanks for all your efforts in teaching us "Blender Software" because we learn many things, in fact you are my first Blender tutor, with that we will never forget you(Tutor4u). Many of your students like me are currently perfect in modelling and motion graphics as a result of you being a good tutor. I am seeking your help my endearing tutor to teach us the best way of human character rigging, face shape-key and animation like walk cycle, we are thankful for your efforts in doing that, with that all your students will earn more experience in Blender.
As always, great tut! Thank you! Been experimenting with EEVEE and there are some great features. The glass thing is a little problem but I am hoping in final release, it will be handled. But you are correct, render times rock! Thanks again!
Great tips! Also impressed how the Beta didn't crash even once during the recording of your video, if it were me, it would have crashed at least 3 times during it.
If only the Steam beta ever arrived... However, i'm sure that Blender will update EEVEE so that some of these...limitations can be removed/fixed. Great video!
Very very interresting. Because the new beta lacks tutorial and documentation. So thank you. By the way, what forum do you recommend for me, a beginner, to ask questions ans so on ? Thanks again !
Very nice video! I have one question: On the view port, using eevee in rendered mode, my scene runs smooth and plays smooth as well but, to render on eevee, it renders 1 frame each second, is not bad but, this difference between viewport and rendering times is expected (10 seconds scene took around 10 minutes to render, but played instantly on viewport)?
Thank you, very important tips, we need some modeling in 2.80 and some tips with regard to new collections property and its uses please, by the way what took you so long?
awesome video like always sir keep up doing it there no one in UA-cam community that does explanation better than you. Thank you I hope you be doing more interesting tutorial with 2.8 demonstrating both eeeve and cycles
I must say that, i start my journey with Blender becouse of you:) I saw one of yours tutorials and do the same, what was in tutoroal, and effects suprise me then:)
Do you know if there is a possibility in Eevee to limit the effect of a light to a single object or collection of objects (ie is there a way in Blender 2.8 to achieve what was the "this layer only" lighting control in blender 2.79 and previous? I have been trying to work it out and i cannot find a solution with the results that it seems to me there is no way to achieve realistic lighting in fact in Eevee as the light penetrates objects and lights element that should be in shade or unlit. Grateful for any suggestions or help
Hello friend, do you have any 3d character modelling tutorial series? Please help me.Because i really want to learn character modelling.I really like the way you are teaching.
Dear sir please 🙏 tell me what👍 should I do with this type of Eevee problem😖 1- I did simple animation and I given shades objects Now my problem occurs Is in view port my object scattered With black lines and hole on my object If I put to Eevee render.if I put that to cycle render engine Object appear nice In this situation How should I correct Eevee render engine kindly tell me if I did any mistakes in settings***"🙋
Brilliant Tutorial! The voice and style of the presentation rang a long-forgotten bell.... Would it be correct to call you Isaac? If yes, what are you up to these days, old friend?
you did only a cycles to eevee, you could show a project for eevee to cycles (like animations) and support the creation/usage of eevee in that specs...
I downloaded a model from the internet and appended it into blender and I have an HDRI applied to it and now I'm trying to add some directional lighting and create shadows on the model and onto the plane I put under it.... nothing is happening . I've scaled the enormous model down and that didn't help either. All that is happening is the model and the ground are becoming extremely bright but there are no shadows or anything and it looks horrible . I have shadows checked on as well. Please helpppp!
I like the idea for Eevee, but I'm holding off working in it until they get those bugs fixed and put out the full update. My models keep morphing into monsters just when I change a few settings.
Why is there a difference in the lighting? Cycles show lighter than Eevee. Is it suppose to do that? Also when I use cycles, I get a grainy dotted render. No idea why?
Hope you see this. Love your videos. Just found your channel. Do you have a video of how to create the halo light shining through the text? If not will you be doing any, your are the best tutorial guider.
What I like the most about your tutorials is the quality of the speech and how clear and simple everything you say is
I will use EEVEE mainly for my animations, and cycles for my high quality renders. As EEVEE is super cool for that real time rendering effect, but surely it has its limitations where Cycles excels at. Having both options is dope as hell though. Nice tut thanks for the assist.

I sometimes find that the soft shadow is a necessary setting to clear up artifacts, even if I set up soft shadows on my lights the best way I can.
We should keep updating the changes in here.
Thank you

Awesome tutorial. Useful info delivered in a concise and thoughtful manner. No B.S or filler. Thank you.
Your tutorial is really quite amazingly relaxing, that makes it kind of stress free.
Great information! Can’t wait for the first tutorial with 2.8
use evee for test renders, and cycles for the final render, both are life savers, thanks man, really good video.
Great video and tips!!
But why do none of these videos show the actual most important next step, baking the lighting? Along with reflection cube maps. I feel you are leaving out half of Eevee...
I was struggling to achieve realism in eevee and using irradiance volume instantly helped
What does baking the lighting do?

FPrime was so good.
Exactly!! I love that early CG feel. It gives me life.
One of the best tutorial channels for Blender in UA-cam! Thanks for your efforts, they are very precious!
Great video, I'll just add that you can change the blend mode in the material settings to additive to be able to see through multiple objects.
Oh man I forgot that Eevee lighting system wasn't unified with Cycles...
Dark days indeed.
please bring animation tutorials using eevee...because you bring very awesome tutorials...
prima explains even the pronunciation clearly and plainly. I like your tutorials, even if I don't speak English very well.
I'm impressed, it looks like it's the opposite of the two rendering engines, it's very interesting and it will avoid many problems for our rendering, thank you again to you!
Thanks so much for the great Eevee tips! Very helpful 😊
Awesome as Always
Thank-you for your time and effort for this tutorial
Thanks! Very useful to keep in mind for the future.
I spend 45 minutes to figure out how to get glass like object in eevee and gave up, I watched this video today and helped me a lot thanks for the awesome content!
Thank you so much for all your knowledge sharing to people. I admire your way of explanation, clear and easy to follow.
Thank you for the amazing tips. Just learning blender
Please make more model videos! You are the best teacher :)
Thank you so much! I slowly get an understanding about the differences between EEVEE and Cycles - and this is so, so helpful!
look at this man, the man that brougth me to blender, love you for the tedy tutorial! it changed my life

always great explanations, which even I understand

the difference is very clear. Thanks a lot tutor.
Great tips! Also impressed how the Beta didn't crash even once during the recording of your video, if it were me, it would have crashed at least 3 times during it.
Blender is running pretty stable on ubuntu. (I even forgot when it last crashed on me.)
i didn't used blender 2.8 much but on windows 10 it never crashed
@@GianniPapetti Manjaro and no crashes for weeks. Have not even found any bugs.
It sometimes died on me when I assigned normal maps to Principled BSDF nodes. Might be a Win 7 issue, who knows.
If yours crashed 3 times, there's something wrong with your system. 2.8beta has been pretty stable for me.
Well delivered and to the point. Very clearly explained.
I m waiting for your more tutorials of blender evee sir. God bless you
Emission shaders can work in Eevee, but you need to use an Irradiance Cache helper, and bake the indirect lighting.
*Tip:* please update your playlist :) love your videos
I just can't wait for when they release the stable version. 2.8 is already stable enough and I already love it.
If only the Steam beta ever arrived...
However, i'm sure that Blender will update EEVEE so that some of these...limitations can be removed/fixed.
Great video!
A hybrid rendering technique: fast EEVEE, cycles for every 30 frames, deep learning to bring the rest to look like cycles render.
now i can easily learn eevee , thank you !!!!
Thanks alot ,, some of my scenes can be rendered in evee and save me alot of time
Helpful tips to keep in mind.
I love Eevee so much.
Very good tutorial. Thank you!
Very very interresting. Because the new beta lacks tutorial and documentation. So thank you.

Amazing... realtime refraction and raytracing. That was just a distant dream in Caligari trueSpace in 1995.
Super useful as always!
wow, great info! -Just starting out here and this is just what I needed to know! Thank you!
well described changes, worth knowing
Another very informative video! Excellent!
Maybe you can also cover the light probe feature.
awesome video like always sir keep up doing it there no one in UA-cam community that does explanation better than you. Thank you I hope you be doing more interesting tutorial with 2.8 demonstrating both eeeve and cycles

Hi, can you start with new beginner courses for 2.8? I’m lost in translation
Very useful video... thank you for shearing
very nice video

There must be some hack or workaround to make transparency to show all objects, i will try to see if i can found a way.
Very informative, thanks!
Simple and only helpfull information, thanks for this vid. It helped me with my project in eevee :)
I turned on Screen Space Reflections, but nothing is changing in the viewport. Is there something else I'm supposed to do or is it just a bug?
Also, enable Ambient Occlusion :)
For a second I thought you were going to be making a Pokemon video
Nice video though 👍
Emission mesh + irradiance probe works, from another tutorial
Thank you!!
Great info, as always. Continued thanks!
Great stuff. Now tell me how I can benefit most from using a multiple core CPU (16).
Thank you for the video!
Great stuff, do you have more?
Thanks a lot!! :D very very much nice tips! :D
At 8:45, the reflection of the Suzanne seems to appear on the sphere, but not the floor plane?
Hello creators! Did you ever try to import a video and play with eevee render? It doesnt work for me.
