For anybody seeing a mostly white render in Cycles it's because Blender switched to Filmic color space recently and this video was from before that. To fix your render, reduce each light's power by a factor of a thousand. So, the two that were 5000 should be at 5 instead. And the one at 2000 can be at 2. This was just based on trial and error, I tried just setting them to 0, since they were already that close, but it was a tad too dark. 5 and 2 seemed to work well.

Very good tutorials - Very clear, well scripted and (as others have observed) you explain what you are going to do ...and THEN you do it. This is incredibly important and a tip that many other tutors would do well to emulate.
As much as I admire the skill of other practitioners, many of them seem to be just "narrating" their process after the fact. I've learned substantially more from the time spent following your channel.
Thank you so much for the effort and thought that goes into these.

Only point I have that he is not talking overall but only on this specific hammer. For example "click ctrl + exactly 5 times" or He didn't make clear how the two materials on head will turn out or how it works. I had to get it by myself. But overall brilliant blender tutorial. I was struggling with materials so long because there is lack of good tutorials and 2.8 tutorials xD

I haven't used any 3D softwares for almost about 8 or 9 years, but I recently wanted to pick it up again and I've felt so lost when I opened Blender.
This video and the previous one to model a hammer have been so so helpful. They're the easiest tutorials to follow and understand fully.
    Bless you for this.

In my version of Blender (2.80b 2019-05-21) point lights have two parameters: "Power" (in Watts) and "Emission Strength". I was able to get the same results if I use "Power" instead of "Strength" (set Strength to 1.0 and Power to 5000W/2000W)

I mean, I just started blender but this is too much, I can see why he wants to show the values and the stuff with the nodes, but like holy! I don't need to see the exact place where you put your light. In my opinion, it's a little bit controlling, I think the best thing you can do for a beginners tutorial, is to show the complicated stuff without insulting the viewer's intelligence with the most simple stuff like moving the light 3 studs.

I wish more tutorials were a clear and pro as yours! I love the red arrows and boxes and how you carefully describe EVERY step you take. The presenters of so many tuts chatter on about nonsense or make it up as they go and then quickly do three or four essential steps in the blink of an eye without explaining! Leaving us to frustratingly re-watch sections over and over at half speed. Even Guru and Cookie can be guilty of that but you never are. And thank you for not playing some mind-numbing underscore track under your narration! Scrolling down the comments I see that I'm not alone in these opinions. Thank you.

I wanna thank you for the way you teach here, step by step and good pace and how you explain everything! I went thru tons of blender videos and got no where, but this one actually helped me learn and make something awesome!

First project I have stuck with from start to finish. I learned so much! I added my own little twists, and even used the techniques learned while texturing the hammer to make it look like it is laying on a concrete ground with proper bump mapping.

This is a refreshing video in a world of mediocrity. You spoke well and explained everything clearly. You presented the topic as though you knew what you were doing... not sounding like you were using the tools for the first time. There was none of the annoying "well, that didn't work. let's try this." And you explained everything in a way that even explained OTHER related topics. Nicely done sir. :)

Have seen this tutorial show up in my feeds all the time and just past it by. Finally got around to doing it today. Nice speed and clear instructions. Everything can be followed clearly and concise. Even though it is a simple project I learnt some new techniques. End result was the same!!! Well done me. Well done you!

I was looking for a tutorial explaining the function of everything in the node editor, but I found this instead. I found the tutorial enjoyable regardless; you’ve earned a subscriber.

I'm really hoping you are going to make more tutorials, the best I've seen so far. Explaining stuff very slowly and repeatedly is essential for beginners. And not only that, but you also explain WHY you are doing this. Great job, Sir!

An excellent finish to this very well done two part tutorial. Even with using Blender 2.93.1, this tutorial series is much more clear, concise, and easier to learn from than most! Thank you!!!
