    What price would be right for you for these controllers?
    A little clarification, I couldn't find any problem with occlusion playing Contractors and aiming. But if I fake the movement out of games I can notice some occlusion. I hope it makes sense :)

      They should be fine on 1.2V rechargeable batteries, the old WMR controllers were too. What's important is to get a decent brand that keeps a stable voltage over its battery life and doesn't drop voltage fast. Eneloop Pro batteries are very good for these controllers if you're looking for a Ni-MH alternative.

A little sad to let go of the gestures of the oculus controllers, but maybe there will be better controllers in the future to which I can upgrade to. this video really goes over all my issues with the g2 controllers. the lack of capsense makes vrchat unplayable.
    I use every single button on my cv1 controllers, and Im glad the capsense makes gestures work without me having to sacrifice anything. I had a similar setup on WMR where I used every single button. mostly because of fullbody tracking and space drag. in short, if you want to play vrchat, the lack of capsense is a huge deal breaker.

    Hi Tyriel, could you ask HP which type of batteries they recommend? Nizn batteries don't have the ammount of charge cycles as the Nizn batteries and tend to fail after one to two years. They also need a specific charger.
    Maybe in the finished product the power consumption (or voltage demands) are lower?

  • @michaelbuckers
    @michaelbuckers 4 роки тому +1

    1.2V is fine for these controllers, but the contact pads have to be clean and pressed tightly - they might be not. The solution is to disassemble the controller, bend the contact legs outward a little, and scrub everything clean with alcohol or acetone. Then it'll work perfectly fine with 1.2 volt batteries (its cutoff voltage is 0.9V) and alkaline batteries will last an entire day of nonstop gaming.

    • @michaelbuckers
      @michaelbuckers 4 роки тому

      @Han Lockhart Warranty cannot be voided unless manufacturer proves that your modification is what caused malfunction, "warranty void" seals are null.
      If you screw up a basic cleaning operation then sucks to be you I guess, you'll have to live with short battery life and disabled haptic feedback. You might be able to get some mileage by paying exorbitant fees to some repair shop to do a custom work, of cleaning and tweaking rare (comparatively) electronics. I did my own controllers and they work flawlessly, no more "low battery" warning on a fresh set.

    The dead-zone probably wouldn't be a reliable way to detect if the thumb is there because the reason the dead-zone exists is that even when not touching the controller the controller is still sending some non-zero signal. Often it's a bit noisy (bouncing around 0,0). They could probably do a dynamic testing every once in awhile when they knew for sure your thumbs were off and then create a tighter temp dead-zone but in general the reason the dead-zone exists is it's an area of the input you know you can't rely on for accurate readings.
    Initially I thought the same thing until I remembered just how noisy the inputs are (if you load up something where you can see the raw values, you'll see how much they bounce and that they often don't settle back to the same number after they are moved).

    Having moved from a Dell Visor WMR to the Oculus Rift CV1, tracking will be a slight downgrade when I eventually upgrade to the HP Reverb G2. That said it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make in exchange for that super high resolution, and Index level comfort/audio quality. The controllers being more similar to the CV1 controllers also means I can easily still play my Oculus Store exclusives.
    In terms of the batteries needing to be 1.5v or higher, I think that depends on the brand of battery. I never had issues with my old WMR controllers using the Energizer 1.2v rechargeable 2300 mAh batteries.
    Speaking of controllers. Is the bluetooth connectivity built into the headset itself? Or do you need a separate bluetooth adapter like on some of the old WMR headsets? It seems like you don't need an adapter since no one has mentioned it, but I just want to make sure.
