Thank you Claudia, I'm so grateful for your simple yet beautiful pattern and tutorial. I just happened to land in my feed. I'm a batik lover as well, so I'm looking forward to seeing more of your tutorials! ❤
What I like best about Island Batiks (aside from they are beautiful) is they do not have pinked edges. So much nicer to work with for accuracy. I never buy any precuts that have pinked edges. Your quilt turned out so nice and you are so pleasant to listen to and learn from. Thanks!
That's great! What color(s) are you going with? I appreciate you watching and if you post on Instagram make sure to tag me(#createwithclaudia) so I can see it.
Great pattern. Beautiful fabric. Thanks. Instead of buying yardage that had to be cut into 10” squares for the background I bought a 10” precut. So much easier.
I have lots of fabric so colours wouldn't know right now but I'm partial to red white and blue for 4th July . The star reminds me of our night in Boston at the fireworks show on 4th July 2019, my only ever visit to the USA 🇺🇸. Now my American sweetheart is with me in Australia 🇦🇺.
Thank you Claudia! I have a 10 inch square pack of Tula Pink’s Homies in my stash and the layout with the star in the center would look so fun in that fabric. I think it would be a good quick quilt for my son. Thank you for sharing this pattern.
Oh that sounds like it’s going to be beautiful! If you post on Instagram please tag me #createwithclaudia so I can see the quilt you make. Thanks for stopping by!
Thanks! I appreciate you watching! The quilt behind me is my “Churning Up a Storm” pattern that I sell over on Etsy here: www.etsy.com/listing/1152171822/
Hello and welcome! I’m glad you like this quilt. I’ve been lucky enough to visit Scotland and it is one of the most beautiful countries I’ve visited. Isle of Skye, the Highlands etc..we dream of getting back one day! Thanks for saying hi!
I'm so glad you watched and I hope you give the quilt a try. It is easier than you think. I'll be coming out with a different pattern that does not use triangles soon. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year!
I would like to make this as a lap quilt so I don't know how much background fabric I would need. I want to try to make this star like you did. I have a teal based layer cake so I want to use grey background. Your quilt is gorgeous.
I have a rag quilt pattern book and made this quilt for my DILfor her 50th birthday this pass December. Made it out of flannels and she loves the pattern and it's keeping her nice and warm on those Illinois winter nights in front of the fireplace.
Thank you!!! You have solved my problem. I've had these 3 pieces of co-ordinating fabrics so long that I can't remember what I was going to do with them (lol). I like to work with larger blocks so this is right up my alley. Loved how you put them together at the end to find the best layout..........Thanks again Claudia. Subscribed.
For the HSTs, I would sew the diagonals with less than 1/4" seam and trim to 9.5" square. My machine allows me to move the needle that I can use the edge of the presser foot as a guide.
Loved your pattern and I will be making it. I love Island Batik fabric because of their bold beautiful color. I’m using Midnight Rainforest. Thanks for the inspiration!!
Thank you - I appreciate that. A while ago I did a video with 27 different layouts. These were smaller half square triangles, but you might enjoy it. It's so hard picking a favorite layout. ua-cam.com/video/0OLrB7V_edc/v-deo.html Have a great day!
Claudia, this is beautiful, thank you for sharing. I love batiks and I love how you show us different patterns with same blocks, no one does it as well as you. You must have been a math wizard in school. Happy Holidays to you and yours.
What a beautiful quilt! I love Island Batiks - I have quite the stash waiting for me to make something - this may just be what I’ve been waiting for - and I love how you showed so many options! Thank you so much! 😊
@@CreatewithClaudia I was thinking either the off white or a black for the background - I have a few packs tucked away, so I should be able to make a queen size 😀
Thank you so much for this video! Your work is beautiful and absolutely love this pattern and color pallete. Very very nice. Subscribed! Cheers from BC Canada 🇨🇦
Claudia, I made a small version of this as my first completed quilt, last weekend. I am not a sewer, so learning to sew straight seams is a trial. I attempted to quilt it (badly) on my 1953 Singer 99K machine. I have almost finished the top for my next quilt, have to add borders. I have unpicked it many times as it has sashing in 2 colours in one direction and 1 colour width ways. My quarter inch seams are not quarter inch! That is a big lesson I have learnt. I truly appreciate your insistence on being aware of your seams!
Sounds like you have nice older machine. I bet your will turn out just fine and this is a good pattern to start with. And awesome to almost finish another one. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for a well thought out tutorial. The organization habits you talk about will surely help me out. I am looking to create the larger star burst as well for my first quilt. Happy sewing!🧵🪡💖
Thank you! Being a new HST quilter, I could have used some further instructions on the start in the center. I think I can probably take a picture of your finished quilt and then print it out so I can see how the rows go for that center. I enjoy your videos…💜

❤ such a nice quilt and simple pattern. I agree with another lady, I don’t like pinked edges. Batiks don’t seem to have pinked edges, which is good. Thanks for sharing another great video. ❤ nice arrangements.

Ha, ha, ha, you listen to albums, LOL. We must be the same age :) Very nice quilt, I love batiks and am called "Batik Freak" by those close to me.
It's definitely dating me, but apparently vinyl has mad a big comeback! Who knew?! I did not take good care of my albums so I don't have them anymore.
I love the quilt and all the beautiful batik fabrics! The best of all not hugely complicated and a free pattern!
