Fun video. But if I may interject; Knights. Being a Knight has all the perks of being a Noble with the added perks of straightforward and honest service to the Imperium. Lives of both privilege AND purpose. I'd say it's a better job than both a regular noble and an astartes. In the case of the latter, Knights (unlike marines) can have relationships, marriage, families, and children, allowing them to feel greater fulfillment on levels no marine can imagine (or by design want).

It's a good business, and the Imperium would definitely put some effort into keeping you safe and comfortable because of your usefulness to the military
True number one is The Emperor, for His Kindness is all you truly need and is given to all His subjects. True number two is The Inquisition for they ensure the average person follows His Will. True number three is the Commissar as they are there to remind you of His Kindness in the toughest parts of your life.
Luetin, I’d just like to take a moment to appreciate your brilliant and expansive vocabulary. Not only does it captivate me to watch again and again, it draws me into the story every time. It makes me feel the world of 40k. Great job!
I've heard from one of his videos that a million lives of imperial guards would be equivalent to one day of hive world production. So would a hive world produce 1 every 10 days?
@@johngodfreymalig2328 I believe the comparison between a million Imperial soldiers and a day's production is with regards to the weapons and armor the hive world can produce. The Imperium would sacrifice a million lives to save a single day's worth of weapons production on a hive world, because lives don't matter in the grimdark future - weapons and armor do.
Hey! Just wanted to let you know a few things, Luetin09. I basically have no idea whatsoever about Warhammer 40k. I have no clue about the tabletop game, and before I came across your channel, I basically had no idea that this vastly detailled universe with a ton of mind-blowing stories was out there. That being said, I now know so much about the W40K universe that I would consider myself as decently knowledgeable on the topic. And that is all thanks to your stunning videos. Your way to present those stories, comparisons or plot summaries, coupled with your (very obvious) enthusiasm for the W40K universe made me fall in love with your channel almost instantly. I sincerely hope that you keep up the good work, because I thoroughly enjoy your content! Thank you so much!
I think you missed out on the Navis Nobilitae. The navigators are some of the most pampered and protected people in the imperium and unlike the Princepts, they are allowed to choose their own appointments. So basically they get whatever they want on a ship because nobody wants to piss off your only way of getting to where you are going.
You’re 40k videos are leaps and bounds ahead of all others and we are very appreciative, Any thing you do on civilian lives of races is amazingly well written, thank you x
I wouldn't say all others-When Vaults of Terra was making videos he did some great stuff on the Horus Heresy and Arch Warhammer has some FANTASTIC videos too. OneMindSyndicate also has some interesting videos. But yes, Luetin is absolutely fantastic, probably tied for the best with Arch
@@EverestBlizzard The problem with Onemindsyndicate is that they most of the time only directly read the wiki and sometimes they sound so fucking boring. HOW CAN YOU MAKE 40K BORING? It's actually a achievement making such a detailed and badass universe boring.
Top 10 legendary astartes. Like Sigismund, Garviel Loken, Nathaniel Garro etc :) You could do this for any race, except you know Tau.. Anyone can dig in and pull a trigger....
Well probably Sigismund, Polux, Kharn, Loken, Lucius, Dante, Nathaniel, Abbadon, Mephiston, Kaldor Draigo and... fucking Cato Sicarius even though he is a blue berry. Also I literally could continue this list for ages there are just too many Astartes to put in a top list. But I personal number 1 is Sigismund but well my Bias is huge being a Imperial Fist. xD
Do you mean strongest enemies of the Imperium and weakest enemies of the Imperium? As Cure4Living says, there's so many weaker races throughout 40k that are barely worth mentioning. Probably the "largest-weakest" enemy of the Imperium are the Demiurg, who are allied with the Tau. They're basically dwarves in space and used to be their own faction, but most of their race was wiped out by Tyranids (really they just didn't sell enough models, so GW discontinued them). Other minor enemies include stuff like Catachan Devils (wild animals native to death world Catachan who eat/kill you in a variety of ways), Necromunda rat men, the Krull, and so on. As far as strongest? Probably the C'tan (former gods of the Necrons) and the four gods of chaos: Khorne, Tzeench, Nurgle, and Slaanesh. The ork gods Gork or Mork (even orks can't tell the difference) are also in the running. For non-gods, Tyranid bio-titans and bio-ships. Hive ships in particular are massive...reaching up to 8 miles in length. They're living ships capable of traveling through space and can literally eat a battleship used by the Imperium. Necrons and Craftworld/Dark Eldar are also in the running in the general sense of their technology. They're some of the oldest races in the galaxy and have millennia of combat experience with the technology to back it up. Orks would be the most powerful enemy of the Imperium if they were unified. They have more numbers than all of humanity, except all orks are genetically engineered killing machines. Fortunately for humankind, orks fight among themselves more than they fight other factions.
Strongest are probably: Chaos, Tyranids, Orks, Necrons. Weakest are probably: Eldar(whichever kind), Tau. Which isn't super fair to the Tau, but they are a pretty small force in the Galaxy despite their advanced technology.
@@tjbarke6086 Sorry maybe i wasn't clear. I was thinking more along the lines of a deep dive into types/subspecies not just factions on a high level. For example the warp has a lot of divers entities some strong, some not. Same with all factions. I think a fun video could be make of specific examples of the strongest of the strong and how the stack up again each other. Same with the weak stuff. It might just be fun to see a humorous list of all the pathetic things that make the Asartes laugh when they see one try an pick a fight.
@@tjbarke6086 Ironically, the Tau aren't even that advanced, even the Imperium has more advanced technology than the Tau. The Tau's advantage is their tech is more uniformly advanced whereas the Imperium's best stuff is rare and in the hands of only the elites.
I would definitely have put a high tech-priest of the Adeptus Mechanicus in, myself. You can't deny the allure of nigh-eternal life, augmented intellect, and badass weaponry. Not to mention the legions of Skitarii some command. And the Arks Mechanicus are some of the largest and most powerful ships in the Imperium.
Hell yes, my vote for top Xenos villain goes to Trazyn the Infinite, one of the only Necrons we know of to converse openly with other races and even engage in "trade", in a manner of speaking. The guys like if General Grievous and Erwin Rommel had an undead cyber baby.

My personal favorite job(not on the list), would be empire knight. I believe it to be vastly better than Titan Princeps. Princeps drive bigger robots yes, but bigger robots in 40k means bigger madness and faster road to it. The interface with the titan makes the princeps highly addicted to the point where he cannot plug off from the titan. The empire knights however are not plagued by madness and addiction as much, smaller robot - smaller madness :) In addition, knights are nobles(filthy rich) and actually many of them enjoy great degree of freedom of travel and independency, unlike the princeps who can go only where the Mechanicus wants them to go. Yes, knightly houses are bound to the Mechanicus in some extent, but not by the extent that princeps are. From what I read princeps are little more than skitarii, they are not mind wiped and remotely controlled, but at the end of the day, when the tech priests say jump - the princeps say 'how high' (yes, yes, titans can't jump, but you get my point) Meanwhile the knights have obligation to help the Mechanicus , but no obligation to serve them on day to day bases. Sooo... give me a knight (from house Cadmus preferably) any day, rather the addicted slave of the Mechanicus princeps...
Wait a second, only houses aligned to Mechanicus are somewhat embedded within their internal structure (Knights of the Cog). Other houses can choose to embed themselves into Imperial Guard and act with moderately greater degree of independence. Then there are Freeblades, from little that I read these come from the most affluent of the noble houses as they essentially buy themselves out from mandatory service for the Imperial Knights within either IG or Mechanicus. As long as they swear their wargear will be used only to further Imperial cause they can do anything, either sit at home and paint their suit or reach out to any Imperial force anywhere and offer battle support.
How about the 10 greatest primarchs? Use whatever standard you want "military ability", "administrative", "achievements" etc. Could be fun to try ranking them, and also open a MASSIVE freeforall down in the comments
Ik this is old but 23:48 Thank you for including this, as someone tipping their toe into the lore, this is a very important and vital clarification. I assumed the vast majority of human colonies were hellscape factory or fortress planets, with very few being actually pleasant to inhabit, except for the utmost elite. It's good to know there is prosperity out there, even if it's far and few.
After hearing about horrors and extreme violence and wars in the 40k, it was nice to hear that there is a semblance of normalcy and relatability to the 40k universe. I liked this.
I lost so many Astartes in Dawn of War, i can't feel they have it so good. At least...not with me as their commander.... I treat my Space marines the way commissars treat the guardsmen, and my guardsmen the way Chaos treats their slaves... You don't want to know how i treat my chaos slaves....

Even with a good job in 40k you are still in heavy danger of dieing in a horribly painful way. Id love to see a video that covers the life of a chaos marine.
Your imperial citizen piece is something I have to remind my 40k rpg players sometimes. For every planet that is a terrible, horrible place, there is another world that could be a democracy, or a republic. Each world is it's own mini country and is ran by the planetary governor(or council) and as long as their tithes are paid, the empire doesn't care how the planet is managed.
I still maintain that the best job is the Governor of a Paradise World, not only can you do whatever you want, you're in charge of a planet-sized luxury resort and your only responsibility is to continue existing.
With a fanaticism that rivals Space Marines, and bolters are their concessions towards practicality. Otherwise they would be exclusively using flamers and meltas because of the purifying properties of the flame. Their faith is so absolute and unyelding that they can perform acts that are on par with Grey Knights. It's unsustainable for extended periods of time, but they can sustain injuries that would put a Space Marine down, wield strength on par with terminator armor, or shoot with an accuracy that is only explained by the blessings of the God-Emperor.

Commisar might be a "good" job, until you get assigned to a deathkorps army and you have to wrangle a bunch of gasmask wearing lunatics who might shoot you for not being willing to affix your bayonet and charge over the top with enough zeal..
How about the ten most and least morally corrupt indiviuals in 40k history. Including not including those corrupted by Chaos. Or the ten worst/best decisions in the history of the Imperium. I know I'm on the something her, but I don't know how to phrase it. atleast allong this line of thought.
I have never been a fan of the 40k lore or storie etc. Bu I must say that I Realy enjoy your work. I have watch so many of your video and have started to love the lore and want to know more of if. Thank you for the good work you do and how you make it interresting. (Sorry for bad grammar and spelling)
A lot of these are highly questionable tbh, they are more to do with power than they are with "good" jobs. Inquisitor, being one of the few that actually knows what humanity is up against and not only that but you actively have to challenge those horrors. Same with Custodes. The highest pressure imaginable lays on you, and when most viewers can't do pushups once a week these guys live to push themselves harder every day. High governmental work/planetary govenor. Constantly having basically everyone under you plot to stab you in the back and take your seat from you. Somewhat stressful. Princeps. Slowly going actually insane because your mental self image is being torn in two, as you pray with every breath to be put back in the matrix for just one more hit. Commissar. Being hated and feared by your own side, and expected to weed out and even kill them. Not to mention active combat engagement constantly. Not a good life. Astartes. You don't face hardships, you face THE WORST the galaxy can throw at you. Constant pain, constant brushes with death, and no genitals. And like the Custodes you live your job, no time for miniature painting there are more pushups to do. Nobility, Rogue Trader, Lucky Citizen; those I buy. Those are good lives, mostly because they have relative safety and even choices.
that was my thought as well. Most of these jobs only look good from outside perspective. But in reality only the top most toughtest and smartest people in the galaxy would be able to manage them.
Yeah, coming from the perspective of somebody not in to Warhammer, a lot of these still seem pretty shit. Maybe the guy who paints all the skulls and eagles on everything would be a better pick
@@evilemuempire9550 It seems shit because its a lot of very hard work but in "reality" (of this universe) if you aren't someone important doing something equally important, you're fucked. Its just a matter of when, without a fighting chance
@@yossarian00 That’s kind of why I’ve had a hard time getting in to any Warhammer stuff, no offence if that’s what you’re in to, but fucked with no hope all the time just is not that fun for me
I’m sure there will be plenty of accounts about heroic last stands I think that would be a good video . Especially with how good you are at putting the right music to match the mood and tone to add feeling to your narration that goes above and beyond what UA-cam deserves. You and Astarte need to team up and do some short films his CGI with your storytelling wow just wow ! Lol gave me goosebumps
I feel like being a chapter serf for the Salamanders wouldn't be so bad. They seem comparatively merciful and humane, and you'd enjoy the relative safety of being near to astartes all of your life.
Also if you are serf of Lamenters, you have survivability rate higher than entire chapter and your jobs are lighter because the chapter usually operated with less than 20% capacity
Of all of these, it's the Titan Princeps that resonated with me the most, since I played the Dawn of War Winter Crusade (Order Route). Seeing how entire regiment, including ultramarines join forces to protect the titan crew was really something. And then that last mission where you get to control the weapons of the titan. Oh boy. You finally understand why are the titans so important. Its weapons so powerful, they can destroy a monolith with a single direct hit, hell, even two grazing shots can be enough to destroy it. The excitement I felt from just destroying each of those bloody things with a single shot was huge. I can barely imagine the excitement the Princep felt at that time, finally using his willpower to destroy the enemies of man with extreme prejudice.
Suggestion: How about a spin off series about lives/jobs in say the Tau or Eldar society? IF there is even enough lore surrounding those factions regarding the lives of their citizens. P.S: im enjoying your videos immensely. Keep at doing this marvellous job. You rock!!
You sir speak the Emperor's Truth. You may be called upon in the future to provide sessions of group therapy at Imperial re-education facilities for those found guilty of heresy.
Didn't see it mentioned on the list, but I imagine being a priest or clergy member on a shrine world would be another nice thing. Wake up, say some prayers, eat nice food, go sleep. Rinse and repeat for your entire life. And whilst you mentioned it as one of the worst jobs, a feudal serf could be a good life. It was for our ancestors, a third of the year being holidays, working the land is good for the soul (and soil is proven antidepressant).
Top ten largest war machines!!! You could talk about some of the absolutely huge Imperial ships and the Eldar craft worlds and stuff. Love the video by the way.
My 40k knowledge is less than most here, I imagine... but no love for the possibility of being a magos? I admit, it's not the big E's own bioengineering, but still plenty of augmentation. Plus being allowed to do at least _some_ original research, having access to some of the best "toys"... seems to me like magos is an option that should rate somewhere in there.
Hell yes. The Adeptus Mechanicus is seriously underrated. the best technology in the imperium at their disposal, legions of loyal robotic badasses and the freedom from the other tech priests to research whatever the hell you want? Sign me up
If I were to "pick a best 40k Job:" 1) Inquisitor 2) Astartes 3) Commisar 4) Titan Princeps 5) Rogue Trader I like the idea of getting to choose where & how I put a boot to the backside of Darkness. -- If you're going to face down the 41st Millennium - you might as well do it in a manner that feels meaningful.
All the jobs you mentioned are inherently quite dangerous and outside of the last one will leave you with little personal freedom. I would absolutely agree that these jobs are coveted, but definitely not "the best". Edit: Also I am missing any position related to techpriests. I mean they get a lot of freedom in pursuing new knowledge and experiements, they get all the best augmentics and have lots of very cool powers and abilities.
2:39 You mean there are few roles MORE coveted than Inquisitor, not LESS coveted! The way you said it means people really really don't covet (ie desire) the role of inquisitor. great video otherwise tho!❤
Although heavily retconned now, I still love Ian Watson's Space Marine novel, describing the hierarchies within Hive Worlds and the friction between the upper hab and scumnik groups (and those in between). I got the picture that Lex's family had it super cushy, relatively speaking.
Your videos are amazing. I’m addicted! I feel like the first time I started reading a Codex :D I was just baffled with the feeling of how extensive the lore was and I just wanted to know more and more (mostly because I also get “addicted” to History I guess)
I am surprised you didn't mention any of the Adeptus Mechanicus. They enjoy the luxuary of not having to adhere so strictly to the rules and ideals of the Imperium, and get to spend their time inventing and working with machines, science and technology, which is the dream of scientists.
They also go through the very difficult process of replacing every part of their body with metal, which depending on your point of view could be considered torture or a blessing
I feel I would have put sisters of battle and their more passive none combat roles over the space marines. As even the battle sisters more often than not have root out more humanoid foes or just guard chearchs or other holy sights
I want to believe that in the grim darkness of the future I would be someone of significance but the truth is, I would probably end up as space toilet cleaning servitor.
Thank you for making all of this video, makes for a super good background sound for when I am painting and still get some lore. Keep the good ones coming! 🎨👍👌😁
Thanks for making these videos! Always a blast. Idea wise, looking forward to seeing the story in the universe progress with new developments (aside from endless and seemingly irrelevant bloodshed).
Those working in the Imperial *Navy* are kinda overlooked in this! I mean, being atrained Pilot or even Captain on a Starship seems relatively "save", not only can you most of the time avoid direct contact to enemys, but you arent really expandable.... all these armys need transport, dont they?!
Another great job! Although I sometimes find the length of your vids daunting, once you get started your videos zip along quite nicely. I was wondering if you might consider a slightly left field suggestion? Much of 40K is based around warfare and specifically the devastating weaponry, both natural and tech based, that is employed by various forces. A different direction may be a video on defenses? This could be anything to Larraman cells and other Astartes immunities, to Eldar armour that accentuates their dexterity, though to the gruesome secretions of the Tyranids and the incredible 'war sarcophagi' that are Imperial Dreadnoughts! There is a passage from (I think) Horus Rising that always fascinated me. It talks about the fact that weapons are always slightly more effective and advanced than armour, to avoid impervious warriors. However, defenses are never far behind and can be equally awe inspiring and almost a weapon in their own right. (Cough.. Terminator Armour...Cough!) Just a thought! Keep up the good work!
That Battle Sister thumbnail was so adorable I just had to click on it. The Battle Sisters simply must be the topic of your next long, in-depth and epic 40K video. I think those white haired female nutbags are one of the most iconic and interesting stories of 40k lore.
Cannot emphasize enough how important your channel's existence is to the growing interest in Warhammer, and all of its different offerings. You're verbose, your delivery is engaging, and you have a sense of humor. I thank you so very much.

I think you missed out on the Navis Nobilitae. Farsight and his crew?
New to the channel so sorry if this was done already and i just didn't see it. But what about Strongest and Weekest enemies of Terra?

The empire knights however are not plagued by madness and addiction as much, smaller robot - smaller madness :)
In addition, knights are nobles(filthy rich) and actually many of them enjoy great degree of freedom of travel and independency, unlike the princeps who can go only where the Mechanicus wants them to go.
Yes, knightly houses are bound to the Mechanicus in some extent, but not by the extent that princeps are. From what I read princeps are little more than skitarii, they are not mind wiped and remotely controlled, but at the end of the day, when the tech priests say jump - the princeps say 'how high' (yes, yes, titans can't jump, but you get my point)
Meanwhile the knights have obligation to help the Mechanicus , but no obligation to serve them on day to day bases.
Sooo... give me a knight (from house Cadmus preferably) any day, rather the addicted slave of the Mechanicus princeps...

An Astartes can't even have a wank every now and then. Think I'll stick with Rogue Trader
that was my thought as well. Most of these jobs only look good from outside perspective. But in reality only the top most toughtest and smartest people in the galaxy would be able to manage them.

Assuming that being near Astartes is safer than being a random person in a place that has never seen a war. It's a big galaxy after all.
Suggestion:
How about a spin off series about lives/jobs in say the Tau or Eldar society?
IF there is even enough lore surrounding those factions regarding the lives of their citizens.

You forgot "Pleasure Servitor" for the Sororitas.

You mean there are few roles MORE coveted than Inquisitor, not LESS coveted!
The way you said it means people really really don't covet (ie desire) the role of inquisitor.
great video otherwise tho!❤
probably just misspoke im super tired this week lol
@@Luetin09 No worries we all know what you meant 😊
Although heavily retconned now, I still love Ian Watson's Space Marine novel, describing the hierarchies within Hive Worlds and the friction between the upper hab and scumnik groups (and those in between). I got the picture that Lex's family had it super cushy, relatively speaking.
Your videos are amazing. I’m addicted! I feel like the first time I started reading a Codex :D
I was just baffled with the feeling of how extensive the lore was and I just wanted to know more and more (mostly because I also get “addicted” to History I guess)

... Hmm i find smash with head the Button to fire Extreminatus is the best Job of Imperium of man...
Dolmaroth same
Might as well drop the Exterminatus uppon these heretics
*ALRIGHT FIRE !*
**agressively smashes head on Exterminatus button**
I would like to note that while not the norm, some governors are elected by noble councils, take pavonis from the 1st and 4th ultramarines novels
I am surprised you didn't mention any of the Adeptus Mechanicus. They enjoy the luxuary of not having to adhere so strictly to the rules and ideals of the Imperium, and get to spend their time inventing and working with machines, science and technology, which is the dream of scientists.
Inventing machines? Sounds like tech heresy to me
They also go through the very difficult process of replacing every part of their body with metal, which depending on your point of view could be considered torture or a blessing
Is "massaging the sisters of battle after a long day" on this list? XD XP
heretic
@@recu1 You dare deny the holy sisters of battle their massages? _You_ are the heretic!
Inquisitor: Custodes, obey me. I have the authority
Custodes: [LAUGHS IN GOLD]
I think there was a confrontation like that in a Black Library short story.
All tasks in the Emperor's service are equally righteous and joyous, heretic!
