I am devouring 40k content. I have had no previous contact with Warhammer. But suddenly it gripped me and now I'm watching this stuff all day and started reading the Eisenhorn Omnibus. I cannot explain this attraction.

It still not an easy life, but it’s leaps and bounds better than being a menial on an industrial world, or a guardsman sleeping in mud for 6 months before being torn apart by tyranids 2 seconds into my first battle. Navy all the way.

There is no real lore in 40k so it's a reasonable idea. Truth has long since been exponged, even time is problematic over a galactic empire and has led to much war.
A returned emperor would be _very_ bad for the majority of imperial nobles. Whether they have the self awareness to realise that remains to be seen. Plenty seem to buy their own bullshit Also without the emperor the golden throne isn’t powered and a warp rift will open on holy terra, so there’s that to consider
I think i’d find it more interesting if there were planets where people just had average lives. I have read stories and interpretations where there are some worlds where people are generally more well-off (or at least not suffering en-masse) than your standard hive world. I find the idea of EVERYONE who isn’t a soldier or some sort of cleric or administrator living hopeless lives where no spots of humanity or hope persists to be boring and bad writing. It’s not how people work. People in general will struggle against everything to etch out some sort of existence that has light spots in it.

I do hope the earth's native animals and plants might have survived elsewhere in the galaxy. Spacial Settlers would not leave their cattle, tastiful fishes, and pets behind.
The imperium barely care for its citizens well being so I doubt they cared much about earth fauna and flora. Otherwise, they would have at least made some effort to preserve its ecosystems.

That's happened in our millenniums poor countries. The poorer the country the large amount of child's they will have. And it can go so slaaneshi excessive ways when you just with open mouth asking yourself. How the hell they managing themselfs with this amount of baby's in one damned house?
