I agree with your interpretation that Jack is a deeply emotional person, and sometimes his emotions get the better of him. I think the fact that he's grown to care about all these people a lot, in addition to the pressure he feels as the only doctor and the person everyone else looks to as the leader, leads him to be a bit snippy sometimes. And from what we've seen of his backstory, he was always a bit blunt, so this just adds to it. I will say though, I think his initial response in this episode was perfectly rational. Michael tells him that Shannon was shot and killed, and that Sayid is being held against his will by the same person. Going in armed is the appropriate thing to do. As viewers, we know it's not necessary but he doesn't. When he finds out it was an accident AND the person is someone he's met before back in the real world, that changes the situation and he changes his approach accordingly.
Right. Just cuz Jack wanted to take a gun doesn't mean he was going in guns blazing, shooting Ana Lucia at first sight. I'm sure it wouldn't have ended with her getting shot.
Yeah Jack has a lack of emotional boundaries which you can see with how attached he'd become with random patients. It was what his father was trying to tell him when he was young, but he didn't say it in a way that Jack at that age would understand.
Yes exactly. I hate how people treat her character. She was deeply flawed, imperfect, but she was very sympathetic imo. The pregnancy reveal with the dude who shot her is always a jaw dropper for first time watchers.
18:00 We saw the previous episode with what happened to the tailies... Jack didn't... He didn't even know the tailies were alive, so he thought the Others killed Shannon, and then he decided to take weapons, not only to make a massacre, but to prevent any lethal situation for his own group
@@Kimpan96 Michael is a little too much obsessed with his son Walt (I can understand that, of course he is, who wouldn't be ?) and he probably told that they have been thrown into a hole in the ground by the same girl who shot Shannon who died, he probably told she kept Sayid tied to a tree, things like "that girl was very crazy and she pointed her weapon to each of us, including her friends after killing Shannon", he probably told Sayid is in great danger because she's alone with him, he is mad at her because she killed Shannon, and she is mad at everybody and then "We must go to help Sayid now !", he probably forgot to talk about the fact that they were passengers of the flight 815, that there is a man who presented himself as the Rose's husband ! He couldn't remember telling all those things and stubborne, so fast reacting as Jack is, he probably wouldn't even listen after the 2 or 3 first words Michael would have say ! That's Jack ! That's how he is ! He is very "Act first, think later"-like
I always enjoy your outros and completely understand your hesitation to grow attached to the characters. You will cheer them on and shed tears. It’s the beauty of great writing.
Well, I don't think Jacks first reaction was lets get guns and go take care of this person. I think his reaction was, someone has Sayid held and gunpoint, and we're gonna get him back.
RoNard!💓💓 Finally...the Rose & Bernard reunion! This show is fantastic at pulling heartstrings and tears...sad ones,😢 happy ones 😂 etc. Thank you Carmen.☺️💚
Jack reacts as he did when his childhood friend was struck by Bullies. He had gone to defend him, he will defend Sayid, Michael and Jin. And it is normal to equip yourself with the minimim with the same weapons as "the enemy" and Ana has a Gun. He also did the same (with Locke, Sayid, Kate and Sawyer) to get rid of the Ethan threat. I do not see how his reaction should be more disappointing than then, with the information in his possession.
Amazing episode! Pivotal and moving and joyous and sad... LOST at its best, and that's saying something! And notice how the music is basically a character? What a fantastic reaction. Thanks.
Yesss I've been waiting for this reaction!! As soon as I finish cooking & eating thanksgiving dinner, Imma watch it. I always cry at the end even after seeing this show dozens of times. I can't stop the tears!!
Glad you’re enjoying the show and invested in the characters. I get where you’re coming from but you’re reacting from your POV, not Jack’s. He is emotional, to be sure, but I’m not sure arming himself is an overreaction. Just my 2 cents. 🌴😎🌺
I find many parallels and similarities between Ana Lucía and Kendra Shaw (from BSG Razor) Both basically good persons, but with something extremely messed up in their head. 🤷🏻♂️ Would you agree?
Carmen, Rose & Bernard were reunited after 48 days apart, after the crash of Oceanic Flight #815. Jin & Sun were reunited after just 4 days. L. Scott Caldwell and Sam Anderson deliberately did not formally meet each other until they filmed their touching reunion scene as their characters, Rose and Bernard. Ana Lucia and Big Mike's squad car is identified as Eight Adam Sixteen. ( two of the numbers ) 4 8 15 16 23 42 Locke is shown answering number 42 down on his crossword puzzle. Ana Lucia's mother said that Jason put 4 bullets into Ana Lucia.
I would really love to see you reaction to Black Sails one day if u haven't already seen it, it's one of my fav shows and it's a masterpiece i swear it, and judging by how character-driven and emotional it is, i think it would be totally your vibe.
Phew, the emotions that last montage brings. Lie down, try not to cry, cry a lot First time I watched this, I was sooooo over Jack. He's just SO hard-headed. His dad always said it best, he can't "let it go". I really appreciate him now, but yea-- you're right. His hyper emotional reactions are problematic.
"It was an accident!" Sorry, I couldn't disagree more. I know cops. They go through extensive training so that they don't just shoot first, without identifying if what they are shooting at is an actual threat or not. Ana Lucia has shown through this entire episode that she is a "shoot first" loose cannon type of cop that should have been removed from the force after her officer involved shooting, that she ignores the law when it suits her purpose to do so, and a person what should never be allowed to hold a firearm of any kind. Sorry, but no, it wasn't an accident. If you give a gun to a person like that, someone that should be alive will inevitably end up dead by Ana Lucia's hand. And by the way, Cindy had just disappeared. For all she knew, it could have been Cindy trying to rejoin the group. But Ana Lucia chose to ignore her extensive training (as we have seen she has done in the past) and shoot blindly at whatever was coming in her direction.I don't care if she experienced trauma in the days since the plane crash. Nobody else acted that way. Nobody. And do you think that cops don't live in a high level of trauma while on the job? No excuse for that behavior. She is a murderer, now twice over.
Shannon is gone, Sawyer is severely injured, Sayid is tied up, Jack had every right to take a couple of weapons on his way to get Sayid back. He wanted to listen but Eko wouldn't talk and he was reasonable enough to listen to Eko when he finally said something.

No one is strong enough to resist those reunions back to back to back along with Giaccino's composition... Fading into Jack and Ana Lucia's reunion
I swear Lost is the only show that is able to do slow motion montages & not have it feel corny.
Giaccino is a master. All his work I’ve heard is phenomenal.
Tysm. For the empathy for Ana. Haven't seen much of that for her. Understanding goes a long way.

Yes and Micheal probably says she has Sayid tied up, so ofc Jack is mounting a rescue operation like he did with Charlie and Claire

The way the cats gather around for these videos is always so funny 😆

100% agree. That is not emotional, that’s pragmatic and logical….ie Jack
LOST has the absolute best re-unions.
RoNard!💓💓 Finally...the Rose & Bernard reunion!

The connections between the passengers are a spider web.
Jack.....can be hard headed. He makes a choice, and can't have his mind changed.
Jake was also clearly upset to find that Kate has true feelings for Sawyer
“…I still haven’t figured out who he [Jack] is yet”….y’dont say? 😂😂😂

She has seen it. She mentions it at least a few times in her ATLA reactions.

Ana Lucia is the worst Character to ever appear on television.
I've read a lot of braindead takes in my time, but none of them were even in the same ballpark as this one 😂
@ LMFAOOOO. I just can’t stand her.
