Review of Titan @ Six Flags Over Texas | Does This Hyper Coaster Deserve Respect?

- Titan at Six Flags Over Texas was built as the premier steel roller coaster for this Dallas, Texas park - since Giant was already used for the Texas Giant, Six Flags decided to name this 245 foot hyper coaster, Titan. But, even with it being one of the few major coasters, with the original RMC New Texas Giant and the newly opened Aquaman: Power Wave, added to Six Flags Over Texas in the last 20 years, it hasn't received a lot of love from the coaster community - although, some find it to still be a great ride. The largest complaints range from the drop not being the best, the positive Gs being too strong, and the overall course lacking various elements that B&M or, more recently, RMC would use in their coasters. But, I feel, there were some truly enjoyable parts of Titan that elevate it as one of the premier rides at Six Flags Over Texas.

TX Giant was still a great (though getting rough) wood coaster when Titan was built. I didn't care for Titan then, called it "boring" & dismissed it being a snobby woodie fan. Titan has grown on me in the last few years, however. Now I enjoy it. I liked it better when the brakes barely slowed it and I went blind & dizzy on both spirals! Now I barely gray out. I don't like or hate graying out, but it's a unique feature so I credit it as a benefit to Titan. I like the speed & height, which are very noticeable, while on other coasters of similar height/speed I don't notice as much. I like the hangtime, the roomy cars & glass-smooth ride. I like how the 1st & 2nd drops go on forever. SFOT is 20 min away, but as a wood coaster guy I go to Kemah & ZDTs once a month since Boardwalk Bullet is a favorite & I love Switchback. I go to Sea World (TX Stingray slaps!) & Fiesta TX 2-3 times/year, too. Titan really is fun & I get anyone who loves it, but Shock Wave is my favorite at SF, with it's killer loops & insane airtime. Wish SF would maintain the formerly-great Judge. Great review & video of a coaster not talked about too much. It could use new paint.
I wish I could have ridden the original wooden Texas Giant. I can only imagine how fun that ride was! I actually really liked Judge Roy Scream on my few rides - though, I haven’t been on too many classic woodies like that. I also love Switchback a lot! Though, I’m not as big of a fan of the restraints on GCIs like Texas Stingray since I feel they limit a lot of the airtime I should be getting on those coasters. Shockwave is a fair number one for Over Texas as well - honestly a bit surprised I like Titan more than it, though it’s airtime wasn’t hitting on my most recent visit.
Everybody loves helix time!!
Nope. Not everyone loves Helix Time 😂
i rode this yesterday for the first time and it was the first coster ive blacked out on lol
Congrats! Lol. I personally didn’t get too close to blacking out from the helixes, but I know it is certainly something that can happen. My twin brother always talks about riding it when he was younger and after his third time in a row riding it he was like, “man, I almost blacked out, maybe I need to take a break”.
I rode it for the first time two days ago in the very back and it was the first coaster I’ve fully passed out on out of my 108 credits
Good to know the back is probably worse with the forces. I like the very front row the best on Titan for the added wind. What’s your favorite coasters out of your 108 credits?
