    Wow....blew my mind at the beginning when you said WA is 10 times the size of the UK. I thought driving 6 hours to the in-laws was a hard gig but it pales in comparison to your travels Andrew. The colours of the coastline from the drone footage was stunning and your final images were super too. What a location with all that unspoilt beauty

    • @Andrew_marr

      Haha, yeah Jimmy, there are advantages and disadvantages with a big state like this. There's an abundance of different landscapes to shoot, but the distances to reach those locations can be challenging. Having grown up in WA, I'm used to driving long distances. That's why when I was over in the UK in 2017, I didn't think twice about driving from Hastings on the south coast up to Glencoe for some landscape photography. 🤣

      Cheers Gary, I was glad I hung around after sunset to take that last shot of the textures in the sand. The up side of the distances we need to drive is, if it was easy to get to some of these locations, potentially there'd be more people to contend with. Thanks again for your support mate! 👍

    We are now entering the 5th month of lockdown where I live and as you may be able to guess our mental health is in decline. Being able to mentally escape to the places you just showed us it’s a breath of fresh air. Thank you for your video, it was an amazing place!

      You've done it tough over there, Marieta. We had tight restrictions and border closures that started early, but things have eased off now with in the state I live. I am very luck to be able to move around, and with such a big state there's plenty to explore. I hope you are well both physically and mentally. If videos like this can provide a little escapism that's fantastic. Hopefully things will ease up and improve for you soon.

      @@Andrew_marr thanks for your reply Andrew! Unfortunately European governments have proven to be inadequate to handle this crisis. They have been taking dumb decisions and people are not following the rules. Honestly watching videos like these, now more than ever are a big mental help. In my country interstate travel is not allowed so basically we are stuck wherever we are living. You are very lucky in Australia and have handled this better.

    G’day, Andrew. Pleased to see you got to the far north. I’ll be interested to see which way you went from Broome - up to Cape Leveque via Beagle Bay, Middle Lagoon, & Lombadina. The tastiest fish are around there, ie Bluebone, Spanish Flag & Northwest Snapper. OR did you take the rough road to Kalumburu. The impressive falls are Mitchell Falls. One needs more than one lifetime to take in the area! Anyway, I’m pleased to hear that you got to the far north, & were lucky to miss the wet season. It’s raining in Sydney these days.

    • @Andrew_marr
      @Andrew_marr  3 роки тому

      Cheers Robert, it a fair way but I found the 3 days of driving not too hard and the way the car is set up makes it much easier. There are still plenty of regions up there that are closed off to the public to protect the communities from the pandemic. Unfortunately, we weren't able to go up to Cape Leveque, as it was closed to the public. We did get to Derby but not the way I might think! 🤔 We pretty much used Broome as our base for this trip you'll see in future videos why. There are so many falls in this region that we would have liked to shoot, so we are already planning a return trip.

    Amazing scenery Andrew. Those red cliffs remind me very much of Sedona in the state of Arizona here in the states. • @Andrew_marr

      Thanks mate, I've had the GoFar installed for 2 years now, It has two main features. One is it alerts you of the errors the car throws up. You don't get much information, I actually find this part quite useless. It also logs the kms I do and I this feature alone is worth the money. Plug it and away it goes, iPhone app is easy to use, all the data can be downloaded and printed off for Tax purposes.

    Great Vlog Andrew. Spectacular scenery. I recently went out to Binalong Bay to do some drone footage. When I put it up in the air and flew it, the drone stopped flying at approx 100 metres and I received a message stating I had reached my maximum distance. I checked my settings and the maximum distance was 2000 metres. Have you ever experienced this?

    • @Andrew_marr
      @Andrew_marr  3 роки тому

      Thanks for that Geoff, yeah I was blown away by the scenery. The only time I've had that experience was when I flew the drone following the car and then stopped the car continued to fly the drone with out landing and I received the alert. This was because I had flown over 2000m from where I had originally taken off. The drone started to tell me it was going to head back home and land, so I had the quickly land to reset it's home point. Has it happened again?

    Have you guys been to Eighty Miles Beach? We got stuck there waaayy out :-) but managed to shovel ourselfes out. I guess you also have been to Derby where the tide has some outer world range.
    Loved your final shot with the veins and reflected light, wonderful. Perfect timing and remarkably long exposure time (6s !) for those crips foreground reflection in those larger veins/valleys. Did you experiment with different ISO and shutter speed settings?

    • @Andrew_marr
      @Andrew_marr  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks Jörg, it's a photographers playground up there with the colours and textures that can be found. The beaches are next level and stretch for miles. I have been to Eight Mile, but not on this trip. I lived up in the Pilbara for over 8 years, so there was plenty of opportunities for exploring and adventure, I wish I had done more photography back in those days up there. I considered increasing my ISO, but after a few test shots and checking the detail in the sand I didn't bother. The camera and tripod were on a solid surface, the sand was like concrete.I could have gone 20+ secs and it would have been fine. Cheers mate! 👍

    Very nice photos, may I ask the drones ones are they like panos or composites cause they seem pretty high resolution/IQ for a drone. What drone (make/model) it is?

    • @Andrew_marr
      @Andrew_marr  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks very much Dimitris, The drone images are all single shots. I tried a few panos on some shoots, but the conditions have to be right. It can be a challenge when you have a moving wave in the scene. Besides, it's amazing what that 20Mp camera can capture. I use a Mavic 2 Pro, that has a 1 inch sensor.

      Haha, yeah I probably should have worn shoes, but I was just trying to fit in with the locals. True is I had to climb down those rocks twice, once to put the camera in place and a second for the footage. After I set up the camera, I climbed back up and scratched myself on one of the rocks. I didn't think much of it, but the scratch became infected and 11 days later I was in hospital up there with two courses of antibiotics. There's a tropic bacteria you can get up there when an open wound comes in contact with the rocks or the seawater. 😳 I might wear boots next time!
