First video of our Kimberley photography adventure -
• Spectacular Colours of...
With harsh light and warm temperatures during the day, we spent some time exploring the creeks and coastline north of Broome. When the temperature peaked, we tried to find somewhere around Barred Creek to hang out and keep cool.
As the tide came in, we got the drones in the air to see if we could capture some images of the contrasting colours around the creek. In the afternoon, we headed up to James Price Point to find a camp spot and check out the beach for some landscape photography.
When I walked down to the beach at James Price Point, I was fascinated by the textures in the sand and explored the pools of water and veins created by the outgoing tide. I decided to make these elements on the beach my foreground subject as I composed a shot looking out over the ocean.
I adjusted the polarizer to remove just a small amount of glare from the rocks but retain the sky's reflection on the water in front of the camera. I used a 0.9 Graduated ND Filter to darken down the sky. At ISO 64, an aperture of f/14 and a 1/2 second shutter speed, I took the shot and moved up the beach to look for the next composition.
The Kimberley is a genuinely unique photographic location. I hope you enjoy the images and footage I captured from this region of Australia. Thank you for watching!
The Music I use: share.epidemics... AMAZING for UA-camrs

The drone images are my favourites. That's such an unusual blue colour in the water and it complements the colour of the cliffs.
Those red cliffs. Amazing, especially with the golden hour light. I've enjoyed viewing them on IG as well. The color contrasts, deep textures, and emerald water just makes for some excellent picture taking. Thanks for sharing them with us. BTW - hats off to the truck underbelly footage - that's some serious image stabilizing going on there!
Great drone footage Andrew the B-roll was bloody fantastic!!!. We are so lucky to live in a country with such different contrast.
Really beautiful images of northern Australia mate, the colours are phenomenal ! 😎👌
Almost unbelievable colours in the drone footage Andrew, fantastic to be able to see them. Hope you keep dry, it looks more our sort of weather for you over the next couple of days - your temperatures are better tho’, 8 deg max here today.
Stunning landscape. Beautiful images.
Watched this video again here. I always like your videos and explanations, great images, well done Andrew 🙋🏻♂️
Great images Andrew, the red cliffs look amazing. Thanks for sharing
Drone footage took my breath away mate...absolutely awesome video have not finished it yet but had to comment!
Ah.... wicked episode again, Andrew. And those drone photos just look amazing. The wrinkled eroded red rock formations hit the eye immediately... wonderful. As many other commenters pointed out already: WA just offers such a vast and stunnigly beautiful environment.... incredible. Thanks for sharing! :)
Hi Jórg, this was so much fun to make. Your right the red cliffs with the detailed erosion, grabs your eye straight away so I new they had to feature in some images. They pretty much take the photo themselves. We enjoyed the morning just using up every battery we had to flying the drones over those cliffs and take shots from different angles. Yeah, as you know we are pretty lucky here in WA! 👍😀
Wonderful collection of images there Andrew, especially those taken from the air as those colours and textures provided great abstract opportunities. Just watching you on the beach, shorts and no shoes and thought what a magical moment to be in. Meant to be Spring here int theUK but temperatures are extremely low at the moment so its still jacket and hat weather at this time
Just sooo amazing drone photos but also the seascape! Thanks for the opotunity to follow this on youtube from the other side of the planet.
Thanks very much Helena. the place was just made for drone photography. I'm so pleased you are enjoying this different scenery from the other side of the planet! 😀
Thanks again, Andrew. Great to be able to watch some Australian content on UA-cam, especially the amazing Kimberley. Keep up the great work on the channel.
Much appreciated Glenn, I really enjoy creating content like this and sharing remote regions of Australia. I'm so glad you're enjoying the Australian content mate! 👍
Can't beat the blues, greens and reds of up north.
Thanks Denise, the colours are crazy up there, can't wait to get back for another trip 😀
the colors are wonderful, between the blues of the water/sky, the greens of the trees/bushes and the reds of the rocks/cliff/land, it's amazing ! The erosion figures, and the textures, in the cliffs are really photogenic. great work !
Thanks for sharing Andrew... Love the results & appreciate the location... I have worked in Broome, Port Headland & Karratha areas....love the scenery ...cheers..
Amazing images!
Amazing images as always Andrew. We were there in July last year. The lilac Mulla Mulla at the foot of the red cliffs made a nice contrast at the time.
The image with the 3 foreground rocks and the red cliff in the background was lovely 👍
Hey cheers Bill, I appreciate the feedback mate! 👍
Nice images ...
Very inspirational ....
STRAYA 🇦🇺
Great images Andrew. 👌
🇦🇺 👍 Cheers mate! 🤣
We have such a diverse state in Western Australia and you give it props with your work. What an awesome working relationship 😉
First time here. Your photographs of the color and texture here were great. The tidal pool at the beginning was a fantastic composition. The drone images really captured pattern. I’d be interested in how you crop and edit those.
Welcome aboard Jim! Thanks so much for your kind words and suggestions. I might look at putting together a editing video for some of the drone images! 👍
Beautiful images Andrew, particularly the rock pools but I do miss the dynamic movement water of the waves at the beach!
Thanks for that Alan, the Kimberley has incredible landscapes for photography. Such unique landforms. I was on the outlook for some moving water, the tide was all the way out, it would have been quite a hike! 🚶♂️🤣
Love those aerial shots, Andrew! I discovered drone photography very recently, and I'm so excited by the possibilities it's created. Unfortunately, I've destroyed two drones in as many weeks, sinking my Mavic Air 2 in the Goulburn River just yesterday! I found you via Adam's channel, and now look forward to following your journey as a fellow Aussie photographer. :-)
Thanks mate, that's no good to hear about the two drones that you had go down. I think the Air 2S has better obstacle avoidance so you should be good! :) Adam is a good mate, I'm very grateful for the shoutout he gave me. I have plenty of Aussie adventures coming up. If I was to do more drone videos, what would you like the videos to be about?
@@Andrew_marr Yeah, bummer about the crashes, but thankfully, Care Refresh made me whole both times! One thing I want to do with my drone (and a possible idea for you), is to create simple images that aren’t obviously shot from a drone, but wouldn’t have been possible otherwise. I’m thinking images shot only 3-6 metres off the deck and simple in their composition. Minimalist aerial photography but without the obvious overhead perspective or high elevation aspects.
First time on your channel... love what I saw.... came here by recommendation from Adam First Man Photography
same here. Referred by Adam Gibb.
Great stuff mate just started listening to the Christian Fletchers podcast and heard you there.
Hey, thanks so much for dropping by the channel and checking it out. I enjoyed the discussion I had with Christian and Carwyn. Thanks for your comment! 👍
Curious about the image with the three rocks with bluff in background. What was the white object between the three rocks and bluff? When I look at that image, my eye immediately goes right to that object as it does not appear to belong. Could you explain what it was and why you chose to not remove it. Other than that, that was a beautiful shot. Love the vid. Thank you for sharing the experience and knowledge.
Thanks Doug, I actually tried to remove it but it didn't look natural. I should have tried to position the composition so it wasn't visible. Thanks for you feedback mate! 👍
What drone you use?
I use a Mavic 2 Pro
Drones are like uber for birds with cameras.
Just been off grid for 5 days Andrew and watching this a second time, it didn't disappoint. Awesome work.
