Cause he was never wrong. Yeah he turned out to be trying to frame the kid but he was speaking truth the whole time. That guy in the alley KNEW him when he saw his face. The junkie called the kid a B. Denzel was speaking teaching street smarts to him the whole time.

@@valentinek.t3327 well I'm not sure how many folks know detectives. Both my parents sheriffs and my mother just retired in March. She always said detectives are savage lmao. And she's pretty hardcore herself tbh. Ones I talk to from like tailgating at baseball games or bbq. Pretty interesting stories. Hell I got friends on other side of the law. I'm from Chicago and they definitely alot of times looking for big fish depending the type of detectives they all. Like murder. One friend actually told me the detective was like he don't care about his drugs or other stuff he into. Basically just tryna get information one something that happened even though the friend wasn't part of it. But sure he know about it. But I agree. He was teaching his ass. Sure this movie isn't way off and how my mother always be saying the same shit.

Hannah enjoys the entertainment of it. Not just any crazy guy but one that is clever sick twisted and can defend his reason with intellect. So for her to be put in that situation is unlikely because not only would she not end up in jail, she wouldn't waste time with a guy who would put them there. She's a philosophy major. And a poison ivy before a harley quinn.
What is your take on people who like and get excited for horror and thriller films? Are all fans going to end up serial killers? Or, just like when people comment on social media, is it a way to release how they feel on the inside knowing nothing would ever happen?

also just curious-- if i end up in jail for people like this (as one commenter suggests), but also defend corrupt cops (as another commenter claims), could i get a really good plea deal and be an asset to the police force? or is only one of these comments true? idk. not sure if i'd be more smitten with the corrupt cop or the average criminal.

Ethan Hawke said he kept getting frustrated while shooting the movie, but it was a learning experience working with Denzel. Denzel is a method actor who really takes on the characters. While Ethan knew all his lines, so he was expecting certain lines from Denzel, but Denzel always goes with the moment and changes his lines quite often. In fact the whole King Kong part wasn't in the script. Antoine Fuqua made the comment whenever Denzel goes off script it makes him look brilliant. The character that Tom Cruise plays in that film is such a great representation of grifters like Coach Greg Adams, Andrew Tate, or Jordan Petersen. It's amazing how ahead of its time that film was... Or it's simply a representation of the fact that toxic "life coaches" and others of their ilk have always been around and will always be here as long as there are poor bastards whom they can swindle.

First of all, Denzel deserved the Oscar he got for this role! I saw this in the theatre when it came out, with a date. We never went out again, and I think it was because of this movie. It's so dark, that I can't watch the whole movie, just the last1/2 hr(?) when there's some redemption and accountability

To those who don't know already, Denzel Washington won a Best Actor Oscar for this. Other films by director Antoine Fuqua to watch include Tears of the Sun, Shooter, The Magnificent Seven and the Equalizer trilogy. More films like this I recommend watching are Street Kings, We Own the Night and End of Watch. Another Denzel Washington film I recommend watching is American Gangster

At the time Training Day probably felt more like a typical "gangsta/crime" movie but it definitely has a bigger spark to it 20 years later & the subject of policing being a big topic; Hoyt (Ethan Hawk) actually was a perfect example of a good cop 💯 smiles & cries indeed.

They are not undercover but it's just a narcotics unit (actual undercover work is rare and these days quite short bursts, like going to go buy from somewhere multiple times to be a known face so they might hear something and have a case build on the ones selling). It's quite notorious how essentially everywhere narcotic units use corrupt methods because it's otherwise so hard work, not to say it would be ok. For example say have a guy selling/using freely and to give them drugs to get information. Like in here weed is illegal and it's not an anomaly that in someones who grows and in their house have been cops and the plants are gone, but afterwards never comes any letter about court/fines and really nothing else like bongs etc. have been taken when in legit instances they Might take even cough medicine and books about drugs 😅 Which then is already to the other ridiculous extent, that might be done mostly to like a known person whose apartment have not been raided the first time.
Training Day is written by David Ayer but he also wrote and directed a Jake Gyllenhaal movie End of Watch that is about LA cops and it's Ayers best ones.
