- Downtown Halifax is such a beautiful area during the summer months. I used to spend a ton of time here as a student, but a lottt has changed since then; the new Queen's Marque waterfront area in particular is so gorgeous! My bro and I spent the day showing Kyuho around our city; you can't go wrong with beautiful views and fabulous local food :)

Downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia | amazing local food, ocean views, my uni days | Korea → Canada trip
Here’s the video of our visit to Peggy’s Cove if you missed it: ua-cam.com/video/QWAt3J6sLn0/v-deo.html 🌊
Why only get a medium when large coke same price?? And u need ice!! It was hot out!!!😂😂
I’ve lived here for over 30 years and still can’t believe the changes in the past few years. I live across the harbour and rarely drive over (weird I know) but it amazes me how modern it’s become with all the new buildings. I love how the new mixes with the old 100 year old buildings! Such a unique city!
I have lived in Halifax area all of my adult live (3 decades) and I can see changes every year. Every time we drive by the waterfront it has changed so much - so yes, I am sure if you have been away it seems very different. The city has grown and continues to grow all over HRM. Glad you enjoyed your day.
You're not imagining it. Halifax has changed a lot very rapidly. I live in Halifax and I would be driving along and be like "what happened to that building? it was here last time i drove by" or "when did they build this? how did they do it so fast??"
That’s me every time I would come to visit over the last 10+ years 😅
You can't imagine how much it has changed since I was born there 70 years ago!
@@johnlocke6506 goodness it is barely recognizable haha. My dad told me that in the 70's the circumferential highway was just a dirt road. I remember there being a huge roundabout by lake banook when I was a kid. You should see the Hollis st exchange now. It's completely different now. And most of South end Barrington is very different. It's not the seedy red light district anymore.
That dog was so cute! Downtown Halifax looks like a great place to spend the day in. And Kyuho getting Mexican chocolate on his shorts 😂
So many dogs there were having the time of their lives-there was quite an audience enjoying watching them 😂
that dog in the water is who we all want to be
Right?? 😂
Glad you like Hali😍
I didn’t know I needed this. I left Halifax to move to California last October and have been feeling homesick for it. It’s sad how sometimes people spend so long wanting to be somewhere else that they forget to appreciate where they are.
Excited to be able to visit, hopefully next summer.
Same I moved all the way to the UK and am moving back to NS. Miss it to much
Halifax has changed and is continuing to change. The population is booming and the city is growing fast.
You started off in my North end neighborhood!!! It's so exciting to see guys where I live & going to the places I love going to. Agricola has built up in the past few years and the waterfront has had an amazing makeover. I'm so glad you were home.
I lived in Halifax for 10 years and just left last week for Toronto. Anyhow, Halifax has changed a lot. Like you said, I was even surprised when I visited the waterfront and many different parts of the city, especially the Clayton Park and Bedford areas. You will notice a lot of changes with all the new big buildings, apartments, and houses.
Downtown has changed a lot in the last few years away
I just learned about HojuSara's passing, and your Canada vlogs are the perfect comfort videos. Enjoy your visit there & stay healthy.💓
OMG / so going to try that deli out tomorrow !!!! only live 25 minute drive away :))))
It’s fantastic! 😋
Wow ! Those stairs going into the water is super cool ! So beautiful !
Always lovin' the halifax summer vibes!
Great video! First time watching. I didn't want the video to end!!!
I love starting my Sundays with your newly uploaded videos! 🙂

I loooved the chill summer vibes of this video! Thank you guys!
PS: That dog was the highlight! hahaha
That looked like fun.I would really enjoy watching the dogs play, too.
Now,I wanna try that sandwich.Looked really tasty.
Thanks for sharing!
Halifax seems really cool loved the graffiti!!! 🤙🏻 and That deli and icecream place YumO!!!👌🏻
Hi guys, we were in Halifax last Monday! We were in Scotland and England, then travelled by cruise ship from Southampton to New York before coming back home to Ottawa and Halifax was one of the stops.
My husband studied and worked there in the late 70s-early 80s, and we lived in Dartmouth together in 1993-4, and we definitely agree that Halifax has change SO much! We met up with his brother and sister-in-law and they showed us all the new buildings etc. (we were last there in 2018). We were amazed at all the new high rise buildings, and the many changes to the waterfront. There is so much construction going on, but it's sure to be great once it's all done. An American couple that we met on the cruise thought that Halifax was very clean.
Anyway, we are now catching up on the last 4-5 weeks of your videos.
Sarah your brother looks like a really cool guy! He is so nice with you both💜
I am loving your Canada vídeos.
He is-we’re super close and he’s honestly one of my best friends 😊
Thank you~ so glad you’re enjoying the Canada videos ☺️
I cant help but smile watching yall travel and have a good time 😊 make me happy watching your videos!!! Thank you 🥰
Aww thank you so much for watching ☺️
Stairs to ocean- that’s crazy cool! I’ve never been to Halifax but now I want to go more than ever. Thanks for sharing.
It was so gorgeous-especially on a bright, sunny day! 🌞
Another fun vlog. Love the Halifax videos a lot. Thank you guys!
Thanks so much! So glad you’re enjoying them ☺️
IM 64,, WAS BORN IN HALIFAX,, I HAVENT BEEN THERE SINCE 1981,, BOY HAS IT CHANGED.. WAS 23 WHEN I LEFT
I've done a lot of work at the Queen's Marque. This building is to help project Halifax into a new age of glamor since the premier wants the population doubled.
I recommend going to the Armview resturant. Anthony Bourdaine did an episode on the restuarant before he died and really enjoyed the food.
I think you might be confused, I don't think Bourdain ever went to the Armview.
I so love watching your travel log....its like I'm there too...if only I can sample some of that sweet treats! Enjoy your vacation!
Nice quaint town! Halifax is so beautiful! 😍
I look forward to visiting Halifax. Thanks for the video upload! 👍🏼
I have fun watching this trip. In future, I should visit Halifax when I go trip to Canada 😍😍🤗
So fun! Loved the dog playing ball. Some very nice architecture!
A beautiful mix of new and old architecture 😄
it's cool to see this from the perspective of a local
I enjoyed watching your vlog in your beautiful downtown❤️ ahh the sandwich😋
Every Sunday morning you guys are my joy to start my day. A nice cup of coffee and 2hearts1soul gets me in a nice relax headspace for the day. A big Thank You from a big fan in Virginia, USA. (been a fan for 7years) .
Ohhh wow! Thanks a million for sticking around all these years! ☕️
I am from Halifax you come in this area that such amazing that why Halifax is so best place and popular it!
It's really nice to see your hometown. Such a lovely place to be and the food looks awesome
I spent 5 years in halifax before moving back home last year, and in just that one year it's changed so much. super miss that place.
🤣 For the longest, I thought capers were peas too! Capers are edible flower buds from a caper bush. Really enjoy watching your videos every Sunday! 🥰🥰🥰
Kyuho calling the capers in his lox sandwich peas was so adorable! If you ever come to Toronto feel free to reach out to me. We have good Viet, Korean, Jewish, Thai restaurants and every cuisine imaginable here. Toronto is the most multicultural city in the world.
Yes!! Downtown has changed like crazy. I moved to Ontario last year and that Queen’s Marque area came out of nowhere. Lots of new restaurants and businesses too! Kudos to you guys for making the climb up to Dee Dee’s from the waterfront, that would be killer… but worth it 😋
Yeah! It felt like it came out of nowhere for me too, since I hadn’t been to the waterfront since pre-covid. That trip to DeeDee’s was totally worth the climb 🍨
The east coast is so beautiful!
Warmest Province in Canada Fact!
ahh.. the waterfront stairs haha I always see tourist going swimming off the stairs.. 🤮😂 love your channel!
OMG, I think I want to move to Canada-specifically, the Halifax/Nova Scotia region! So many picturesque, flat out beautiful places that look positively idelic. Is it as clean and safe as it looks, Sarah? Are there any seedy, wrong side of the tracks areas? Is it affordable, or crazy expensive? You guys are SO GOOD at filming your travels, you make me want to visit every one of them, whether in Korea or Canada. Thank you for allowing me to visit places I will likely never see in this lifetime!
Halifax has its safe areas, but seedy areas as well-much like any other city. Housing and rent costs have skyrocketed over the last few years in Halifax and Dartmouth-we certainly couldn’t afford to live there 😅 But it’s beautiful to visit during the summer months, and we’re content with that!
Halifax/Dartmouth have become a hot spot these past couple years. Lots of people moving here. It used to feel pretty safe, but with such a fast increase in population, the crime rate is increasing quickly. We are also in a housing/rental crisis ( I guess it’s pretty much the same everywhere these days). A one bedroom apartment that was $750 two years ago is now $1495-$1695/ month. We also have the lowest wages and the highest taxes in the country. Houses are selling for hundreds of thousands over asking price. Honestly, Nova Scotia doesn’t feel like Nova Scotia anymore. There are still good things of course. It’s still beautiful with lots of sights to see, and most the people are so friendly. I just really hope things start to get better here soon.
@@janavanbeelen8489 Places close to the water which were undiscovered end up inflating after discovery. And anytime you combine funky cool with beautiful sights of nature you end up getting expensive very quickly. Think Portland east.
@@wpl8275 halifax has actually been called the portland of canada, so you aren't far off with that analogy
@@wpl8275 also, it still doesn't make it any less sad for the people living there that are getting priced out of their neighbourhoods. (I lived there from 2008-2019)
Awesome I am in halifax fun seeing my city you got really great shots
So enjoy ! Thanks.
Kyuho calling capers "peas" is the cutest thing ever 😂😂
Hahaha he legit had no idea 😂
Lived in Halifax for my first 16 years of life then moved to Fort McMurray AB.
I miss home and the ocean
It’s been wonderful seeing the beauty of Canada. That sandwich looked yummy. Hope you spend a lot of quality time with your family. It’s hard being away from family.
Thank you ☺️ So glad you’re enjoying the Canada footage 🇨🇦
downtown looks soooo much fun! makes me wana go there
It’s so nice there during the summertime 🌞🇨🇦
i've lived in dartmouth my whole life and it's been fascinating seeing the city grow since i was a kid. It's only getting bigger as NS passed 1M residents recently which is crazy to think about when going to school you knew almost everyone
Love watching your vlogs.wishing to travel to skorea and canada..best regards from your fan in sydney 🇦🇺
loving all the food
Loved seeing this, my family and I are returning to Halifax for a visit after 10 years in Australia this September - so many changes.....
Grew up in Halifax, and moved away in 2005. Nothing changed when I lived here, but in the past 10 years, overtime I visit its been a 360 as it experiences a building boom! I feel like a tourist in my home city!! Its great to see....and to see more people enjoying the city! thanks for sharing!
The one's enjoying the most are the international students.....
Halifax has had a housing BOOM for last 40 years / just saying and working in this trade
강아지가 물가에서 오프리쉬로 뛰어노는 모습이 너무 부럽고 좋네요. 한국에도 이런곳이 있었으면.
awesome content. thank you for sharing. have a nice day!❤👍
Again loved your video. I always enjoys the things you eat. Sarah your sandwich looked very tasty its a pity I have to go to Halifax to eat it 😉😊
Very nice...thank you for wonderful videos.
i am in Icheon and i was in halifax 2006~2007. very nice to see familiar landscapes ㅠ
That kalbi looked delicious! Watching your video was so relaxing. I watched it for the kalbi recipe, but really enjoyed how calming it was. I don’t know if it was watching the cooking or seeing all of the pretty nature shots. Very nice!
It’s such a solid recipe-highly recommend it 😋 Thanks so much for watching!
Summer halifax is awesome😯
Man, now I gotta go back to Halifax. Looks super fun!
It’s such a nice time of year to visit! 🌊
Love the Superstore!
Wow that's beautiful view
Halifax looks great. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching! 🌊
my grand mother was about 7yrs old during the halifax explosion and her house now is a frat home for the university there, my dad was also born there in 1928, december 7th, my dad was celebrating his 13th birthday in 1941....................i have a real need to get back there and to see how much its changed, since i last remember it..................
Love, peace and harmony.😊💛🏞️☀️🏖️🌊⛵
Misses Bimo's eyes so much !!!!!
Wow, I haven't been to Halifax since my Grandmother, Aunt and Uncle died. It's almost unrecognisable! Still beautiful though and makes me feel homesick. 🧡
Waves from NB! It’s been an amazing summer - glad you got back east to enjoy it. I can’t tell if KyuHo was saying “peas” or “these” with his smoked salmon bagel, but I’m pretty sure it was capers. Very delicious! More from the family of hops than peas. Enjoy your labour day!
Embarrassed to say we had NO idea what capers were until we posted this video 😂
It's really nice to watch something so local. I live in Cole Harbour so it's as local as it can be
Woah, local indeed! 😎
I'm a simple guy. Sarah uploads a new video, I thumbs up and watch
Thanks for watching! 😊
I followed when I was in Korea a few weeks back. Now I just got to Busan from Halifax. Didn't know you were in NS. 👊
I’ve been avoiding downtown Halifax for a couple years due to construction and lack of parking, but your videos make me want to go. I only live about a 20 minute drive to downtown
Yeah it was a totally mess for a while. Still a lot of construction going on in some areas, but it’s looking a lot better!
I'm really enjoying your Canada vlogs 😊🙆♀️ weather looks amazing and the views🤩
Btw I was surprised when Kyuho mentioned the flavor he chose, as a Mexican I could feel the taste of that ice cream haha 🤭 My sunday just became better thanks to your vlog~ have a great week guys 😄
I love beaver tail!! Haha. I will be traveling around Toronto, Montreal, Prince Edwards Island, and Nova Scotia in October and will be making some of the same stops as your previous blogs (especially Cabot Trails). Thank you very much for showing us your country.
Ohhh! The Cabot Trail in October should be fantastic! Enjoy your travels! 😄
@@2hearts1seoul Thank you very much. We are looking forward to it.
6:50 - you're right next to one of the best bakeries in Canada! LF bakery sells out of almost everything at noon....French boulangerie heaven!
You guys are probably only about 5 minutes away from my parents' place! 😳😂
I've grown up in Halifax and I can definitely confirm that a lot has changed, even in just the 3-5 years
It’s been so long since I have been too Halifax but I love living close to Halifax
오늘 비디오 영상미 대박이네요 ㅎㅎ 색감 너무 귀여워요
You were right across from an awesome french bakery on Gottingen st. Next time you should try it, they have the best bread and pastries! Agreed, Halifax has changed a lot in the last decade, it was under developed in the 90s and now all you see is cranes every where.
Was that LF Bakery? We wanted to go but we were too full 😂
@@2hearts1seoul Yes LF Bakery, your sandwiches looked really good. Will have to try the Deli! Great video 🙂
Toronto is like that. I grew up around Bayview/Eglinton and moved away to North York and now am living Downtown near the Lake I recently went back up to Bayview/Yonge/Eglinton has changed so much.
That is a pretty "casual" Jewish deli to serving bacon! Loved your day in Halifax - would Love to see it in person someday.
It’s not bacon-it’s ‘beef’ bacon ;)
Luv the sunglasses, where can you get 'em? Halifax is great for hide and seek, so many laneways. Thanks for sharing your vlog
I live in Dartmouth…loved watching this❤️
Awww, thanks for watching, neighbor!
the time of the explosion was frozen on the city hall clock not the town clock on citadel hill....I love the hali-deli, you made me jealous :) thanks for your vid!
Sarah, love those Cat Eye sunglasses 😎!!!!😄👍🏻👍🏻
Thank youuu! Was feeling a retro sunglasses look this summer 😎
@@2hearts1seoul That style suits you fantastically well👍🏻
FYI you can get Montreal style Bagels back in Korea at Wayne’s Bagels and you can get Norwegian Smoked Salmon by a Ontarian in Seoul at longboat smoker. He also smokes a candied salmon all is made in house, makes a homemade dill cream cheese. You just need red onions and capers and some cracked pepper and you are in business.
yooo i never expected to see halifax on my feed. i guess we really are growing
만들었으면 좋겠다는 그 고기는 파스트라미 같아 보이네요. 엄청맛있어 보여요.
할리팩스 꼭 한번 가보고 싶네요.
Man I remember the first time I tried a beaver tail, it was in Victoria, BC on this random night we were allowed to get off the cruise ship on a stop at this random place that only did beavers tails. Kinda like a long, flat donut and sweets on it haha.
Errr...you kinda gave away your age with the time frame of how long Halifax has changed since you were in uni, if the viewer is observant haha. I think from watching you guys for however many years now, I'm like positive we're right about the same age :D.
The maple leaf in the MCD arch gives it a nice flair :D. I like that contrast, looks good!
Beaver tails are a little too much for me, but then again I’m not a donut person to begin with tbh 😅 Hahah, being back in the summer and seeing how much the waterfront changed definitely made me feel pretty old 🥲
☀️Thank you! That was fun.
we stayed on Barrington st.
at The Waverly Inn. (but not Fri And Sat., noisy days)
We always went in the Fall.
here is the Deli. If you scroll to map at the bottom click on the box upper right corner for a nice map of downtown Halifax. 🙂
How fun that you spent the summer in Canada. Love your Canadian vlogs. Are you guys back in Korea now? If so, I hope you missed the majority of 장마 season even though typhoon Hinnamnor is in the south of Korea and Jejudo.
We missed spending summer in Canada so much-hadn’t been able to enjoy summer there since before covid! We’re back in Korea now and missed all of 장마 but Hinnamnor is on its way, so 🙃
Hali Deli fries y'all. They are the best!
man this halifax city looks so good i chance upon it on MSFS lol
I went to Halifax two weeks ago for the first time in 10 years. It was so surreal. I was constantly either saying "oh I remember this!" or "is this new?? i don't remember this." I went to SMU and immediately got disoriented by the new buildings lol. My bf (Korean) went for the first time and really enjoyed it, and not-so-secretly hoped we'd run into you 😂
Omg, the first time in 10 years-you must’ve noticed so many differences then! Awww, wish we had run into you guys! Sounds like we might’ve been there around the same time :)
@@2hearts1seoul so many changes! some parts were really unrecognizable. but given how long I'd been away, some of it wasn't actually "new" anymore, just new to me lol. it was nice to see it growing up though.
maybe we'll catch you next time! or if you ever stop over in Toronto :)
actually, we're going to Seoul in a week. my first time! yayay!
Kinda intriguing to watch another person perspective of traveling around Halifax when you've explored all around it yourself
I know what you mean. I am from Germany and have lived in the US for 6 years. When I came back to Germany my home town had changed totally. On before undeveloped fields I suddenly saw lots of houses built and several more streets than before. It took me days to find my way around.
Woahhh, in just 6 years! That must’ve been really confusing when you went back 😮
