How to Train for Snowboarding || REI

  • Even if you’ve stayed fit throughout the year, you’ll want to get your body ready to ride longer and better. Snowboarding requires strong legs and ankles for steering, body rotation for turns and a balanced stance to keep you upright as you ride over bumps or uneven terrain. The eight exercises Dr. Sam shows in this video focus on increasing power, endurance and balance so you have more control over your board and can avoid a fall that might injure your wrist or shoulder.
    In this video, we’ll show you the following exercises:
    Hip Roll-0:44
    Walking Lunge with Rotation-1:27
    Lunge Squat-2:00
    Lateral Ski Jump-2:30
    Plank Hold with Leg Movements-3:09
    Squat with Heel/Toe Raise-3:53

    Been doing this all summer. Knee and hip stability improved so much. I see huge results in my surfskating and trampoline sessions.

    Great video! I am starting my training weekend for the upcoming season, I think the Squat with heel / toe raises is gunna be a game changer for me

    Went snowboarding last season for the first time in a couple years, hurt my plantar fascia of my front foot. Any ways to prevent injury to the plantar fascia?

      Stretch your plantar fascia with a lacrosse ball to improve flexibility in the plantar fascia daily. I've been dealing with this.

      Agreed😂 However, I do honestly think performing some endurance training throughout the off season is super beneficial. Especially if you want to lose weight for the on season!👊🏽

      We’ll see who has to cut day 1 of the season short because they’re legs are jello after 5 laps

      @@zachariahcosgrove413 hahaha, snowboarding is the easiest. this is why everybody now choose to do this instead of skis. go to any "ski" instructor and ask him.
