I'm always amazed at how effective the CA glue is in these types of videos. It never clogs and sticks solid everytime. I've tried many types and brands of CA glue. I even used activator with them. The pipettes always clog too.
with the glue when finished useing it tap it a few times on the table to make the glue that is in the tip of the applicator settle back in to the bottle before relaceing the cap. Keep dress makers pin nearby to poke through any small blockages left next time you use it. If the whole thing is clogged you can also break away the complete clogged tip, so the glue can flow then re seal it with a wood screw. Next time you use it the wood screw will be glued in place but with a screw driver and pliers the screw can be removed.
These home made slingshots are really cool, I've watched a few of these videos now. I'm curious, have you ever tried shooting these through a chronograph? Especially with steel bearings/BBs. It would be interesting to know how many feet per second these weapons are achieving with different projectiles.
That last one with the arrowhead gave me chills, you have to load it while it's cocked and it looks like it'd be difficult to load in a manner that wouldn't have your hand in the way if it went off. The others are cool and fun, but the last one is just plainly dangerous.
It’s on a long shaft so don’t actually handle it with your hand, wedge the front end of it into something like a piece of cardboard then load it by moving the barrel over it while it’s upright No need to touch the arrowhead while loading 🙂
Id load it exactly like he did with the slingshot on its side and id hold the charging handles back with my off hand while holding the back of the head with my dominant hand. A mechanical safety would do well though.
Gave you chills? Most crossbows and PCP arrow air guns for hunting are loaded just like that. You're tripping. It's only dangerous if you're ignorant in using your equipment and load it with your finger on the trigger.
In fact, it's a very interesting piece of equipment, you don't need any really expensive or hard-to-find materials, you can use it both for fun and for more practical uses, and with a few modifications, you can make this slingshot much better. a larger barrel would allow more space for the rubber strips to stretch and generate more tension, and if, in addition to the horizontal strips, two more pairs could be placed on the diagonals in an "X" shape, the strength of the shot would increase even further, and if you could add a type of ammunition reservoir (as I saw you do in other videos), it would become a great repeating weapon, and could be used for things like fishing, killing pests or simply target shooting at greater distances.
Put a crank on it to do the recocking and time it with the hop feeder or whatever you'd use for ammo feeding, and you'll have yourself a neat repeater.
And replace the piece of metal with something lighter, like a string. That's adding significant inertia that the rubber has to overcome, only for it to be wasted at the end of the stroke.
Dont forget that in the U.S there were 4.31 deaths per 100,000 people in 2021. That was more than seven times as high as the rate in Canada, which had 0.57 deaths per 100,000 people. You don't have those crazy school shootings like America. One or two but very rare. Would you prefer Americas gum problems,?
I'll just say ca glue is very handy because it dries right away and you can just keep working and it's quite strong too, but it's not reversible. If you use the nice poly vinyl glue like Elmer's wood glue or tight bond, and you screw it up you can just apply a little Heat or heat and steam the glue will release and you can clean up the glue and do it again. With the CA glue it's permanent, there's no pulling that apart except with a saw.
This may be a prototype for one of the first slingshot pistols! I hope this guy has a patent on this thing. Those two little bands shot a broadhead arrow and stuck it into metal! That is impressive. I would be one of the first to get one.

A bb-gun can be rebuildt to a powerful weapon. We have kind of strict laws here so there will not be any tutorials on UA-cam from me. Love the wooden gun. Fine craftmansship.
I didn't rebuild one, but I made a simple one that used strike anywhere match heads finely pestled. With only a 9 inch .177 barrel it would shoot BB clear through a Sears catalog. With a shortened sharpened nail, it would piece 2 catalogs or a 2x4. More than 9 match heads didn't increase penetration.
The only thing I would have changed is adding another wood piece on top instead of just the rod sticking out. Just feels like it would have been much more fun to cock and aesthetically would have been neat. But I'm really impressed by this regardless, looks awesome and actually has some kill power! Good video
I’m sure that he can make one powerful enough to defend against all of these negative comments. Hint hint. (edit! Liked and commented on by the OP! Noice! )
Very nice. Some people have no idea, a harmless looking airgun with which people shot balloons, can do how much harm to a human if shot at right point from a good distance. A human body has so many vulnerable points where if you strike with a single finger properly, it can be fatal. So, with a proper rubber band, put aside that arrowhead, even that small bearing ball can be deadly. I would make one for me.
When Lewis and Clark set out on their expedition of discovery one of the weapons that they took with them was a Girindoni air rifle. The Girindoni was a military rifle that was used for a short time by the Austrian Army. It used 46 caliber lead shot that would go an inch in to a pine board at 100 yards and with good accuracy. Lewis and Clark used it to impress many Indian tribes with its accuracy as well as using it to hunt large game like deer and wild boar. It was gravity fed ammunition, like modern BB guns, and utilized the gun stock for its air tank. The tanks were removable and filled separately. It was in many ways superior to the gun powder weapons of the time in range and accuracy, shots per minute, and in use in adverse or wet weather conditions. Although it did take about 1,500 pumps to fill a single tank and, if the tanks were exposed to direct sunlight long enough, they had a tendency to explode. Also they were complicated mechanisms that if not handled correctly would break down often and the leather seals would easily fail if allowed to dry out. The actual Girindoni rifle that Lewis and Clark used on their expedition in 1803 is currently on special display at the Pentagon in Washington D.C.
So why is the frame different from when you readied the can to when you fired the bolt? The hole that was there, is no longer; and the gun is not visible. Just a question.
Such a nice and simple design - but my guy - you've got a drill press, a band saw, and whatever else - and you're gluing bits of wood together, predominantly from the outer edges. That might be solid, but psychologically i wanted to see some more screws / heaftier joinery.
Man, if I had been able to make one of these as a young teenager I would have had so much fun with it! This is very cool, but not something I would make for defense. Unless it was defense against the soda can army, then its perfect!
