    As a locksmith in a large US city with 33 years of experience here's my opinion. THIS is NOT a "key" it is especially NOT a key that will "unlock ALL locks." It is basically a pick. It opened the CHEAP $10 lock because it's a 'cheap $10 lock." It will not open 99% of house locks or other locks that are made properly. This is clickbait.

      ya but even the most basic kits will have ones that are far better quality than this. i mean for a couple bucks too. the cheapest, bottom of the barrel rake you can buy for under $5 would be 10000x the quality of the crap this guy made in the video.

      The first pick I think is called a "rake"
      Works on more than one lock but not all, so lock picking tool kits usually have several.
      Takes a certain method and practice skill to use, and some locks cannot be raked open.
      The "L" shaped tool is used to put a slight torque on the lock cylinder while picking to assist in holding up the lifted pins so they don't fall back (they're under spring pressure ) and/or to just help completely turn the cylinder.
      Lock picking takes skill, finger sensitivity, and practice.

    The first part is a normal lock picking rake and pressure lever.
    plus thie second part makes an emergency key for that lock only,,, not all locks.
    Use the rake or other lock picking tools to open the lock, the superglue key can easily break off making the lock totally useless.
    Openning a padlock like the one you are using only takes a piece of drinks can slid down where the shank enters the lock to open it, saves ages having to make a weak key.

      As is usual for videos like this, they are a bunch of nonsense, or do something simple the hard way.
      The first pick was just a poorly constructed rake, which was used improperly by the maker. Such a device will NOT open most pin tumbler locks - much less other lock varieties. A locksmith might take a swipe or two with a rake as a first attempt in case the pinning is poor. If that doesn't work within less than a minute, then he/she will pull out proper picks.
      Interestingly enough, the rake is useless against two of the most simple lock mechanisms, the warded lock and the lever lock.
      With the graphite/super glue nonsense: the molded key would be very fragile and would break in a stiff lock.
      He had, the key - just take it to a hardware store or locksmith and get a key cut for a couple of dollars. Or buy a blank from an online source for about a dollar and file the blank to match the original.

    • @CleanCooking
      @CleanCooking 10 місяців тому +2

      Ok, the consensus finds it useless, but imagine: If your key broke in half and the store is closed or you are unable to get there this method with simple basic materials...Keep up the good work!!!😂

      There are keys that you cant make copies of. Post office PO BOX keys, Bank Security Boxes, Commercial buildings, etc. They all become a problem if i lose the key. Office building is inconvenient until you get maintenance to get you another one in a day or two, PO BOX it's a $65 dollar replacement fee, if not more, Security box is even worse it's days and over $300 as they have to drill out the lock.

    • @nnamerz
      @nnamerz 10 місяців тому +6

      Technically you don't actually need the key in your possession that entire time. You just need the key long enough to make the hot glue mold and then return it without anyone being the wiser. Then you can take your sweet time to replicate it using the method in the video. But a much faster and easier way to achieve the same goal is to simply cut a bar of soap in half and keep it ready with you. Now when you get a hold of the key, just press it really hard into the soap to get a mold (you can also use certain types of clay). This works much faster, especially since you don't need electricity, a hot glue gun or the WD-40....nor do you need to clean the WD-40 from the original key. And since soap/clay has a much higher melting point than hot glue, you can heat up some low-melting point metals like Field's Metal, Bismuth, Alum, Zinc, etc.. and pour it into the soap mold to get a much more durable key copy instead of the brittle superglue/baking soda/graphite mix.

    A Dremel diamond disc is faster than a file. I'd finish up with another Dremel item; a small grinder cylinder, diamond dust if possible.
    The key copy ; You could do better though. Press in mirror box on both sides, but with Dynacast on the inside in 5mm sheets inside a 10mm gap , and bake it hard maybe or use as is. Now you coat that and fill with the mix you made there, so there's a perfect 2 sided copy. The dynacast wont stick to itself if coated with oil first. I'm a fan of Avocado oil. It's high temp stuff.

      @@TheKhopesh Dynacast plastic. It's used by machining a part in dynacast then packing it in red sand, then displacing the red sand with molten metal. Foundries use it. It's been around for years. Also if making a key copy you can use a tougher material from the auto parts store use for bolt repairs etc... a gray putty that dries hard as glass.

    That's cute. Anyone who might want to make one of these gadgets might want to consider: in California this is a violation of Penal Code section 466, possession of burglary tools. Yes, it is "only" a 6 month misdemeanor. Every state has similar laws.
    If you are caught with one of these and you are not a licensed locksmith you can expect your local police department and sheriff's office burglary divisions to forever suspect you of every burglary in their jurisdiction. No problem, you say. They have to prove it. You're right. They do have to prove it. In the mean time you'll be constantly "talked to" by those people and in the course be spending a boatload of money on attorneys.
    But don't take my word for it. If you're in for a penny why not go in for a pound. You only have your liberty to lose. 🤠

    I like the first picklock, the bad news is the padlock was maden in china. These padlocks are easy to open, they are good to practice. The clear padlock is opened easier than first one because it is to learn how to picklock any lock.

    I guess the title of the video was referring to the lock pick or bump key you made but there's still a lot of Variables that come in to play when making a bump key... For sure the one that you made will not open all locks ..

      It's true, each lock is different and requires unique modifications for a successful bump key!

    Just a little trick to make the key easier :
    You can use baking soda instead of graphite, mixed with Super Glue ( cyanoacrylate glue ), it works even better to create a strong key ( or anything else, like a undetectable but deadly knife or pick to stab a guy, very useful in jail for example ).
    Glass powder works also very well, but would probably be too hard to cut the key with a simple cutter.

  • @flowerbasket2010
    @flowerbasket2010 8 місяців тому

    I thought you said the key will unlock all locks. All it is is a duplicate key made with a lot of labour and risk to safety when it is easier to go to the key cutters and get a new key cut.
