Chris, the large piece of plastic that said, "For Decals" on it, was for transferring the large decals onto the model. Similar to a "palette" for painters. Extra step I thought but I'm sure it kept some folks from ruining large decals!
The last time I seen these beer 🍻 trucks model kits on the store shelf's was back in 1980 I had the Coors beer truck freightliner tractor truck with the trailer great to see these coming back
Like I mentioned in the Highlife Astro 95 build I'm a Highlife guy and the Astro 95 is one of my favorite rigs. I've been looking forward to this build and as always you do not disappoint. Keep up the good work Chris
Chris, great build! With the moveable axles one trick I added to the air lines was to add a very weak spring to keep tension on them. That way you can move the axle and not have your air lines drooping. I know that's not in the box; but it's an easy extra to add.
Thank you for another great video Chris, I watch your videos for tips and inspiration for my own kits. I saw the clip where you used gliserine to mimic grease on a fifth wheel, I decided to try black acrylic paint in a squeeze tube so it will dry. Put three small dabs of the paint on the fifth wheel then spread the paint around by dabbing and spreading with an old brush until you get the desired effect. Also with these Fruehauf trailers, if you don't glue the axles to the suspension subassembly while still gluing the track arms to the axles this will let the track arms hinge where they snap into the suspension subassembly, if that makes sense, and give you working suspension. It's a little fragile, but it might add some detail to the display. It might be a good idea to modify the track arms by replacing the stock locator pins with brass rod or wire.
As usual, excellent job! One thing I'd like to throw in, On the trailer marker lights, The most rearward markers are red and all the lights forward are yellow. But I'm sure all the little plastic diorama dudes hardly notice!
Chris. As a truck mechanic for over 45 years, (Now Retired) the Glad Hand connections and lines on the front of the trailer should be Red and Blue. Red for the pressure side, and Blue for the return side. Just noticed that on this build.
@@sczuylevch13 Yes. The left hand or outside of the trailer is RED (Supply). The Right hand is always BLUE (Return). This is the same for all trailers in North America.
As usual, your closing pics don't look like models. Your photography is definitely improving. I'm old enough that I remember when Miller was called "the champagne of *bottled* beers". Great build as always, and another trip down memory lane.
You must have at least 5000 sq feet of floor area in your house-- I imagine several rooms with floor to ceiling display cases. It must be nice to take a stroll through the aisles with a cold Miller in your hand, admiring all those fine models!
hpiguy's Model Workshop 2021 This is my first time Commenting On your video's you did one fantastic job on building This Fruehauf trailer As to all your other awesome putting together all your other Kits.I watch all your video's They are really fine detailed kits 👍👍👍👍👍
Chris+ I am thinking of buying one of these trailers and make one of my international transtar kits with this it would be cool another great build thumbs up 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
just a little tip for anyone biulding any van trailers , it you have italeri models , the tyre trees make for excellent rubber stops at the rear for rubber loading dock bumpstops ...just a little tip ..
Got to call you out (lol) the side markers should be amber with just the rear red. Just making a note. Love your videos, keep them coming, I'll keep watching.
Absolutely love watching these videos. I'm always amazed at the end result. I know you build as you want, but just thinking that the wheel hubs look kinda plain and maybe could use a little of your awesomeness? Great job, as always!
Been looking forward to this build ever since I saw the tractor unit. The combo looks great and I can use these weathering tips on a trailer I rediscovered recently whose color scheme I want to change.
According to Scalemates it started life in 1970; in 1971 it got some extra parts to make a reefer. In 1972 it got Schlitz decals; 1976 they released a flatbed version; then after that just cycled through a bunch of previous and new decals. I might look for the reefer version.
I wish they would do the reefer again, but they haven't so far. Round 2 is reissuing the old ERTL Great Dane reefer trailer in the next month or so. When the beer kits came out they included the reefer parts but they weren't used on the box art builds. Scalemates is off a little, the AMT flatbed was a brand new tooling with full frame underneath. IMC did a generic box trailer in the late 60's/ early 70's that they later reissued as a flatbed using the box trailer as the base. Also, the beer kits from AMT came out in the late 70's and the Schlitz trailer was paired with the Mack Cruiseliner tractor that was originally issued with Ryder decals in '76/'77. Not trying to be a "know it all", I've been building these trucks since '71 and I have most of the old 70's AMT annual catalogs to back up the dates.
Captain Morgan Thank you for your info. You're not being a "know it all," just sharing your knowledge of the kits issued "first time around." I was fortunate enough to catch the originals on "there way out," as I have been building them since 1982. I never understood the RYDER decals on the MACK CRUISELINER. Now that you shared that it is supposed to be paired with the SCHLITZ trailer, now I have a purpose to build the Cruiseliner. Beautiful truck, but RYDER decals don't do it any justice. Thank you again
Another fine build. I saw the trailer for this trailer, earlier - not in tandem either. Thanks, Chris. I'm going for a sixer of High Life after this - then watch it again.
In those trailer kits there is a locking bar for the sliding rear tandems just like the real thing . in this video it shows up at 317 on the below the mud flaps , and for your information all clearance lights by law require red to be displayed to the rear only and amber to the the sides and front, i also noticed where you located the tail lights on that trailer , they should be tucked up in under the rear of the trailer otherwise every time you back into a loading dock you will damage the lights
Being right handed and watching you use the marker left handed for tight detail on the doors made me cringe 😆. Awesome work new sub here looking forward to tons of ideas
Great build and video! Came out really well. I'm just finishing up my White Freightliner build, and I may pick one of these up to display with it. I probably won't use the miller decals but I'm sure I'll figure something out. Thanks, have a great day.
I thought I read awhile back that large piece of styrene was to help with getting air bubbles out of the large decals these trailers had over the years.
just wondering, if I were to leave the doors to open and close, if any of the same scale cars could be stored inside the trailer? I have the Coca Cola model and plan to get some of the Coca Cola cars and pickup trucks
If I remember correctly that big extra plastic piece was for the AMT decals that came in the original issue. You could make a placard for the decals and glue the placard to the trailer. I am not 100% positive but am pretty sure that's what it is for.
Seamybmw+ I was thinking the same I said to throttle power the new international transtar 4070A kits would look nice with with this beer 🍻 trailer they give you the decals for the tractor in this kit Chris dose great work

Chris, sorry this is a little late. Great job building the trailer. My question is, how long is the trailer? I’ve got Smoky and the Bandit decals for a trailer and I’m hoping this could be long enough. Thanks
I've watched a few of your videos recently and I have a couple questions. Firstly, what size socket are you using to slide your tires onto for sanding them? A spark plug socket? And secondly, I've seen you use the Sharpie Permanent Markers quite a bit. How do they hold up over time? Do the colors fade? Thanks.
I love this content! So going on Modelroundup, do you know why a model kit is taken off the website if it's just sold out? It's weird cause when I find exact links like ok your Supra video or I find a link to the Hardbody truck I can open the model kits but when I search the kit on the website it's not there?
Their search engine can be picky depending on the terms you search for so I just direct link to the page in the description to make it easy. I make $0 on the links, it's a direct link to the site so it's not like I get paid from everyone that clicks and buys. :)
@@hpiguy I mean that says a lot when you put a link for a website you aren't being paid for to do! That says a lot about the company and gives me higher chance to trust them!
I hate to be "That Guy", but you placed the marker lights all wrong. All of the lights on the front and sides are supposed to be amber, and all of the lights on the rear are supposed to be red. That truck is going to get some hefty DOT fines!
Chris, the large piece of plastic that said, "For Decals" on it, was for transferring the large decals onto the model. Similar to a "palette" for painters. Extra step I thought but I'm sure it kept some folks from ruining large decals!

Cool trick using a drill and socket to accent the tread on the tires. That’s awesome.

Chris. As a truck mechanic for over 45 years, (Now Retired) the Glad Hand connections and lines on the front of the trailer should be Red and Blue. Red for the pressure side, and Blue for the return side. Just noticed that on this build.
Do they have a proper side for right or left, for supply and return? Or does it depend on the make of the trailer?
