Produced nearly exclusively as a semitractor, the product range is focused towards local delivery and regional shipping.Introduced in 2002, the 8000 Series replaced a product line of the same name derived from the long-running International Harvester S-Series. In 2007, Navistar rebranded the 8000 Series as the International TranStar. The name is derived from International Harvester Transtar, used for various Class 8 conventional and cabover highway tractors from the 1960s to the 1980s.CaboverDuring the 1960s the DCOF-405 or "Emeryville" was the top seller among American trucks for four years.[1]In 1965, International Harvester introduced the CO-4000, replacing the DCO-400. Featuring a larger and wider cab, the CO-4000 was distinguished by a large trapezoidal grille, a design feature that would be used on International cabovers into the late 1990s. For 1968, the CO-4000 was given an update, with the standard engine becoming the turbocharged IHC DVT573 diesel V8 with optional diesel Cummins and Detroit Diesel engines. Internally known as the CO/COF-4070A and as COF-4090A (with a raised cab), the new truck was marketed as the Transtar. For 1970, two new models were introduced. A Super Transtar featured a Detroit Diesel 12V71 V12 engine, allowing for loads of up to 144,000 lbs. The all-wheel drive Unistar was introduced; the truck was fitted with a freewheeling front axle, powered when the drive system detected loss of traction from the rear wheels; the Unistar was sold through 1972.During 1974, the Transtar cabover underwent a second upgrade, becoming the Transtar II (CO/COF-4070B).[2] Visually, few changes were made between the two vehicles, although a Transtar II is distinguished by windshield wipers mounted from the top of the cab. Under the cab, to accommodate trends towards larger-displacement engines, International modified the engine lineup. International offered its own V800 turbocharged diesel V8 (replacing the DVT573), with Detroit Diesel introducing the 8V92 V8 (in place of the 12V71), the Caterpillar 3406 six, and several Cummins engines, including the 1150cid KT-450 six (among the largest engines ever fitted to a roadgoing vehicle). In 1981, the Transtar II CO 4070 was discontinued, replaced by the CO-9670, the first of the Newport Series cabovers. Sharing little more than the trapezoidal grille with the Transtar, the 9670 (also branded as the XL-Series) shared its doors with the Transtar 4300 conventional. In a significant break from precedent, the interior of the 9670 and its successors were designed without any intrusion of the engine or transmission (leaving a flat floor). The final Newport-series cabover sold in North America was assembled in 1998.8500The 8500 model has a wheelbase from 128 to 201 in (3.3 to 5.1 m), is powered by an International HT 570. Its front axle capacity is 10,000 lb (4,500 kg) or 12,000 lb (5,400 kg). Rear single axle has a capacity of 23,000 pounds (10,000 kg). Rear tandem axle has a capacity of 40,000 lb (18,000 kg). Both axles are either Meritor or Dana Spicer and are available with a driver-controlled locking differential. Applications include beverage, city tractor, and regional haul. - Авто та транспорт
I drove this truck back in the 80's being a cabover it was like sitting in a blender with wheels! It would shake so bad that the headlight buckets would work loose and fall off! Ah the good ol days!😉
I did to with a old 318 Detroit ..that truck would rattle ur fillings out of ur teeth
Too funny!!!
😅
my dad drove one for Metz Baking Co hauling Old Home Bread

Happy birthday, Chris!
I have an original of this kit back when it was an ERTL kit before they merged with AMT. Later today, I'm going to rewatch your parts presentation while I have my old kit to see what the differences and new parts/molds are. I know they were talking about how Round2 retooled the body to be more correct. Model on Chris!
)
The Ertl kits are a big step up from AMT's offerings. I'm really glad they've been rereleased.
Need a t2000 with a petroleum drop trailer
This is the big rig kit I've been waiting for! I built one as a kid when they were released as an Ertl Blueprint kit! Those Ertl kits were the best on the market!
The instructions were first-rate and the kit came with masks for painting the cab with the box-top colour scheme -- included. Congratulations to Round2 for restoring it to its glory -- this kit put AMT and MPC on notice.
I remember building Ertl's 1:25th-scale kit of the International Harvester Transtar II Cabover, the log hauler, amongst others.
The final shot with the Sunoco tanker was the cherry on top. As always, a terrific build Chris. And many happy returns for the day!
Add my best wishes for your birthday too! May you do these videos for another 30 years! Semi rigs are generally outside of my interest, but I have to admit watching you build these makes me want to step WAAAAAAY outside my box and do one. You're responsible for all the COKE trucks in my stash and your enthusiasm just contributes to broadening my horizons. Thanks, Chris!
I had this kit when I was a kid, the only thing I remember is the different front rim of being of the old style split type rim. the rears were chromed. other than that It did have numbered parts on the trees. the kit it's self is the same. but I had several mods (electrical / air lines) to one and did my own company logo painted by hand. it was the parent to company 7-11 (Southland Corp) also their distributor. my mods were opening cab doors, head, cab clearance, and tail lights, with a lighted dash, along with fog lights. the new kit now is much more with new additions. i also put in carpet (felt) and cloth for the bunk. did more detail to air and electrical lines. for the 5th wheel I used real grease from a real truck. I used the AMT Great Dane 40ft trailer and also did customizing in it too! inside I put in balsa wood, and light able clearance lights with tail. changed the opening doors to a roll up. made a lockable pin for the tandems on the trailer to adjust the tandems. used a rectangle box under the trailer for a the battery to light the truck and trailer together.
Those old 2cycle Detroits sound even better when they spin backwards
Happy birthday Chris! I'm loving this kit - looks like it's going together easier than any truck kit I've attempted, that's for sure! Very intricate details and the end result looks terrific, and I love the extra information on the real truck provided with the instructions as well as the detail photos of the kit.
I know what I’m doing with this truck. The tractor for the bulldozer and trailer combo I have.
Happy birthday Chris.
Grew up in the cab over era and always loved a chromed out international transtar!!!
Happy Birthday Chris! Awesome build as usual. I built one of these International kits years ago when they first came out and it turned out nicely even back then. I'll have to buy the reissued kit and give it another whirl.
Nicely done I built the Ertl Kit back in the days my Mom brought it back from the US to Germany she found it at a Kmart in Kansas when she visited her sister
That's an awesome International cab over model! I believe my dad made this very one when I was a toddler based on his actual tractor he had, I remember it fondly because I played with it like a toy and unwillingly tore it apart. This does look like a nice model to build, I severely struggled on the AMT W 925 kenworth I see you have built one maybe it's a better mold than the Watkins version I had where nothing lined up, a lot of twisted parts and glue pins that hardly existed. I was building the Smokey and the Bandit "Bandit #2" Snowman tractor trailer and practically have the trailer done, the rear end assembly looks awesome! I even built landing gear feet from scratch styrene. Thank you for your incredible model building videos!
Finally, the Transtar build 😁. Happy Birthday Chris!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Thank you for posting this rig!!!
I'm not a big fan of green but I bow to the master of the rattle-can paint job -- you are awesome.
I was surprised to see you brushing Testers silver enamel. It is great for touching up attachment points on chrome parts -- blowing lightly onto adds to the shine. But it hates drying for ever, and there are so many shades of metallic acrylics.
Tip: If you want to hang some wire from the pogo stick to simulate air lines, you can use O gauge airline connectors to simulate the glad-hands. Attach them to the trailer's airlines and you can connect or disconnect them at will.
Happy birthday 🎂!!!! Absolutely gorgeous build of a great subject! Definitely on my to buy list. Thanks for showing how it’s done. Keep up the good work young man. ⏳👍🏻
Man that beautiful Marlo truck kit ( 1969 ) International TranStar cabover 4070 ♥️🤠
We had GMC Jimmy's in the Seabees back in the late 70s early 80s with the Detroit's and they did SCREAM.
It was an efficient way to convert diesel into noise.
Happy Birthday Chris!! Awesome kit. Great job, looks real! I like those old Cornbinders.
As a teenager I had multiples of that kit,it looks the same as it did years ago,I also cut a cab and made a day cab to haul a float with 2 IH 1066 farm tractors,I have ordered a kit from my local hobby shop to do a build with a float and a piece of gear to haul, great job on your build! I can't wait to start working on it 👀
My father retired from the US Airforce, bought a white International Trans Star II,he loved that truck.I was 14 yrs old and let me go with him, On some runs and got to go to Tennessee and then Alabama, pretty fun to go.Bring back some memories, thanks for sharing. 🤩
Happy Birthday
You should have painted that engine Detroit green and covered with oil lol. I've always heard if you paint a rock Detroit green it would start leaking oil! Lmao
Manual says red, I painted it red.
@@hpiguy I guess you can say it's a Cummins engine then lol
Great job... keep up the good work
Back in the day IH painted all their engines IH red, just like Peterbilt repainted theirs white, didn't matter what brand of engine they were.
THIS IS AN ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL KIT AND IT LOOKS EVEN BETTER WHEN IT'S BUILT. I bought 1 and was soo amazed by how awesome it is that I bought 2 more.
I built the original kit about 20plus years ago and it wasn't to bad but I do remember having some issues, I still have it in display case, I painted blue with yellow stripes...
Nice job Chris, I love it...
I love that score from 40.00 to 43.20👍
Chris, enjoyed your build on this International Transtar. My father-in-law drove one of these back in the 1970's. Pittsburgh to Chicago with a flat bed of steel. Hoped to build a tribute to him till I saw the price of the kit. I realize there is a lot of cost on mold development but $62.00 just seems a little expensive. Guess watching your build will be as close as I get to this rig! Keep building your way; and I'll watch and enjoy. Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday!! It's your Birthday and we get the gift of this Semi!!
Happy Birthday! Nice work as always! Just started doing the semis, having mixed results so far. Keep up the good work!!!
Happy birthday Chris, the build looks great. KUTGW buddy.
Happy Birthday Chris and many more! Awesome kit, it turned out great. Looks like another kit to add to my stash! Cheers!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Happy birthday Chris , been waiting for this kit since I saw the pre production models , amazing build mate
These C.O.E. are a soft spot for me. I remember when seeing these on the road all the time. Who knows that they were on the way out. When I spot them some times in this 2021 age. Can any of you remember when it was just normal to see these c.o.e. semi???....Dam I am old...Lol. Fantastic build Brother!.... As I like to say......You keep building them an I will keep watching. 👍. Ttyl.
Built this kit when I was a kid. Kit was moulded in red black and chrome, so no paint needed. Will have to pick up the new kit. Great build!
I have to say .. "Absolutely Well Done!"..
I was a kid when that kit was sold under the"ERTL" company label,.. great to see it back out.. can't hardly wait to buy. Thanks !
Now this is more like it. What a great rig.
Fine build and superb finish. Great video thanks for sharing.
Oh, and Happy Birthday!
When oh when are we going to get a 1/25 tow truck the smaller size?Sure would be nice to have some of the older construction rigs too!I really do like this kit tho.
My dad built that kit in the 70s!!! I remember the extreme detail he put into the wheels and chassis 👍lm gonna have to get that ... haven't got a lot in 40+ years.... THANKS 😊
When I first started driving OTR the company I worked for had all new Transtars, 318 Detroit and a ten speed. Always felt like I was driving a bulding, didn't have much in the way of torgue, but that thing would haul hindend once you got her wound up. Like Chris, she sounded like a high revving Indy car..LOL
Thank you! I totally appreciate the skills and artistry, but I'll never build one of these; what I love from your videos is seeing how these machines go together and your presentation really highlights that.
Happy Birthday Chris and thanks for the build up!
Happy Birthday and glad you built the kit I ordered two of them and I also have two of the original kits still sealed in the box
Nothing before this: Happy 44 birthday Chris! enjoy your day with all yours. Now, I can't take my eyes out of the truck! it's beautiful and indeed, very well assembled. Thank you for such a great work. May you have many great days like today!
A lot of attention to detail in this one. Very well done, and more importantly happy birthday Chris!
Love the green you picked for this build. Happy Birthday.
Happy birthday Chris this was the one I've been waiting for thank you so much great build you did the kit justest
No problem 👍
Happy birthday Chris! what a way to celebrate! Fantastic big rig build!! :)
Excellent build, Chris! It looks like so much fun I have to get one. Thanks for posting!
I still have an Ertl International Transtar II kit in the box complete with the shrink rap covering. Nice to see that "Round 2" went through the trouble to reproduce the original IH Transtar issued by Ertl back in the day.
Happy Birthday
I can’t wait until I’m able to get my own.
Happy birthday chris!! Beautiful kit! Great job!!
I've built my fair share of AMT trucks and this kit actually looks impressive. I had long ago embraced hours of shaving and fitting to make the AMT trucks presentable
Remember... This kit was originally made by Ertl. AMT picked it up, redid the molds and added some more details her and there. The grunt work had already been done when they got their hands on this. But they still got it out to production so kudos to them for that. Lets see more of those!
I know what you mean! Hopefully they redo all the other trucks to
This is based o0n the ERTL kit, All ERTL big truck models have inner cab sleve.
The ERTL Blue printer series of truck models far surpassed AMT's with the molding quality and fit/finish. I have an original one of these but will order a new one. I hope Round2 releases/retools, if necessary, other ERTL truck models.
I have a ERTL Buleprinter International Transtar II in my collection. I was going to buy the cast resin Neyway air suspension but now i dont have to. i am waiting for this kit to show up in my maiubox soon.. Happy Building
@@leroykees1170 Thanks for the reply. You, as well.
@@cdpgbc-mw2kz he always does, I guest he tried of getting back to us.
Great build of a beautiful truck. I've watched a lot of different guys put kits together and I've 𝑛𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟 heard anyone sound this impressed with the quality of the kit. It's about forty years since I did any kit-building but a product like this makes me want to get back into it. Too often, we see folks wrestling with ill-fitting parts and badly designed assemblies. Everyone seems to accept this as normal but these kits ain't cheap and should 𝒂𝒍𝒍 be to this standard. Congratulations to AMT on producing something that people 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 and doing it properly.👍👌😁
Thanks for watching!
I had the ertl also but I got mine at a flea market I think for bout 5 dollars , it was my first truck kit and I can see how they improved the kit , I love the new tires for this kit. Thumbs up for you awesome bulid version,
Awesome build. Just finished mine a few weeks ago and paired it with the stock trailer. Love seeing your videos
Amazing build Chris cool that AMT got a new rig on the shelves hopefully it builds well by the looks of yours I like it well done buddy
Happy Birthday Chris
Happy birthday Chris! The truck looks amazing. Awesome sauce!
Thanks R2 for not just repopping a good Ertl kit but making it even better! Any chance of seeing some International conventional tractors to follow? Bday congrats Chris!
Had the biggest grin the entire time I was watchin this, the enthusiasm is contagious. Im a robot kit kinda person but my dad drives trucks and it's made me interested in this side of the hobby. Never tried glue kits before, might try this at some point! Somethin about this hobby is just so joyful. And your build came out BEAUTIFUL!!
Thanks a lot!
Now you have done, I got to get this kit now!!! Wonderful review and presentation Chris! Happy Birthday youngster💯
This would be great with the Oil Tanker.
Was just about to comment that
Yes its the Terminator truck
Incredible model a new truck I’m so excited to get mine as soon as the nearby hobby shop get those kits I’ll get mine. Thanks Chris.
Happy birthday Wisconsin man!
Happy birthday Chris! 🎂🎂 I'm 44 as well. Turn 45 in October. Nice build👍👍. A little tip for you..I use push pins to poke through decals for locating holes. Anything works. But I find that handy because always on my desk. Lol. Have a great birthday sir!
Can’t wait to get mine Chris I could really tell you we’re excited to build this one lol thanks for sharing it looks perfect
Chris, I stopped at 11:00 just to comment (oh, you better know, I'm going to watch the WHOLE vid).
I agree with you 100%...THIS is a great first-glue-big-rig kit. I built the original waaaay back in the late 70's and just loved how easy it went together. I am so glad that @Round2 #Round2 bought these kits back for us older modelers (this particular one, I'm planning on a minimum of 3, possibly 4 kits). I really appreciate the re-do of NOT having chromed this that should NOT have been, as you pointed out, makes it so much more easy to build/paint for a more realistic finished product.
Thank you for this (an all your) review and also....HAPPY 44!!
Now, if you'll excuse me...I'm going back you your video...see ya!
sorry for the syntax/grammar errors...thats what happens when you type faster than you think (ADHD!)
Happy late Birthday to you Chris, excellent job on the old Transtar CO 4070A! Definitely love the green you picked for yours! I built ERTL's Transtar II 4070B cabover kit back in my high school days and it went together very easily like this one did! I portrayed mine after the brown Transtar tanker in the 1984 Terminator movie lol. Anyway, excited for the new tooling, gonna grab myself a couple since I've always wanted to do the 4070A's!
I was happy to see it pulling the Sunoco tanker. The whole time I was thinking it would be the perfect tractor for the tanker. Very nice job!
This looks like an awesome kit! Great work on showing off this build! Love it.
Thanks a bunch!
Wow! What an awesome build of my favorite COE !!!
Thanks a bunch for sharing your amazing build and time with us !!! GOD Bless 😇👍🏼
That came out beautifully, Chris. I wish they’d hurry up and release it.
WOW!! That looks great! Really nice color selection. Nice job.
Happy birthday!
That did turn out beautiful Bro. Great job I enjoyed watching this build...Thanks for posting and sharing always looking for another one of your builds. hope you're doing great. Keep building and happy modeling.
Happy Birthday Funky C! 🎉🎊🎂
How much awesome sauce do we get with this one Chris? 😉😎
At last, one of the few semi's that includes the pogo stick! Very nice build. Thanks for the review. Love when you do the big rig builds.
Thanks man!
Happy birthday and many to come Chris
I don't make any kits myself. But love watching your videos, especially the detail paintwork. Astonishing how every streak of the tiny brush sits perfectly. Respect and greetings from Belgium.
Wow, thank you!
What a great way to spend your birthday Chris building a model that does not give you fits it just falls together I hope the rest of the kids they produce of the big rigs are just as well designed to be easy to assemble and again happy birthday there Chris you young guy 😃👍👍
WOW.... Got to get one of these. Great job. HAPPY BIRTHDAY.👍
Just purchased one a few days ago. Hope mine turns out half as good as yours! I haven't built a model in many many years. Yours is a beauty!
Happy Birthday, Chris!
HAppy B-Day Chris. Thanks for he nice build.
What a beautiful job! Paint came out really nice! Really enjoy your posts and sense of humor! Happy birthday!🎂
Thanks so much! 😊
Great job love the green! Thank You
I laughed so hard at you moving gearshift to lower cab.
1985. Dad brings home brand new Emeryville. Says to brother and I Leave the truck alone. I'll be back in an hour and show it to you."
15 year brother says "I got this."
We get the cab up, do our examination and lower the cab without putting the stick through the hole.
Dad was sooo mad! That was the only sibling that didn't go to work in the family trucking business.
I plan to buy this kit as my first kit.
Retired after 42 years of trucking.
The reason it's the nicest AMT kit is because even though AMT acquired Ertl, they never produced this kit from it's original release and only because Round 2 released it they had to use the AMT logo instead of the Ertl name due to licensing rights, but growing up, I remember when a $5.00 bill would get you any Ertl kit and Yellow Front Store in Phoenix Arizona always had them on sale for $3.50, mowed alot of yards to buy all the Ertl and AMT truck kits.
Happy Birthday Chris! This is a beautiful of a beautiful truck!!
Great build! Thanks for the video!
A very Happy Birthday Cris. Instead of getting present you have given us a nice present,a long video with a beauty of a truck.Enjoy your B-day with your loved ones
Happy Birthday! 44yrs old,,,, young 'un.😁
Happy Birthday 🎂 Iam definitely picking this kit up after watching you build it they did a wonderful job fixing this kit and as always great job on the video and final result
Another awesome build. Super job!
Happy (belated) Birthday, Boss! This is a nice way to observe it! (And may your hands be as steady as they were last year.)
Looking forward to this kit myself. The suspension is Neway air ride which will make be a nice addition to any other make of truck. Especially heavy duty applications. The engine is an 8V-71. Not all that big actually. 568 cubic inches and were offered in 260, 290, or 318 horsepower. Looks like a great kit. I use stripping tape for fuel tank straps
Thanks for stopping by!
Drove one of these ran good got 2 ordered pulled a low boy with a dozer on it every day yours looks sweet mine was red and white ill be watching this over and over
Happy Birthday! You did a great job of this model, I'm keeping an eye out for a kit like this in 1:32 scale.
