Never seen the charisma like she had with people on and off screen. When SiriusXM Studio 54 announced her passing. I was like most of the callers. Nothing but shock and tears
The Lovely DONNA SUMMER ! Us 50+ folks are so lucky that we got to hear and see the best era's in music from the 60's-90's. After that... it got weird. My number 1 pick - Peter Brown - "Dance with Me". And if we couldn't revisit this era in particular... especially the trauma that we're all having to endure in this moment in time. Man oh man... THANKS UA-cam !!!
I was all of 12 when this album came out...anyone else think that Donna was the most exquisite and beautiful woman they'd ever seen, and that her voice and music were literally divine? Fuck, this clip reminds me...
Omg! How I miss those Days! Of American Bandstand! I was In my teens! & Loved watching AB! Every Saturday! And listening to Donna Summer! My favorite Vocalist! I Idolized her! She was The QUEEN! HOW MISS HER & DICK CLARK. THOSE WERE THE DAYS! OF YOUTH!
She created her style of vocalization, and words way before Bruce entered into her life. She was surely going to make hits whether he’s in or out of her life. She was just really inspired by him, that’s why she let him co-write songs with her. She let him. She’s the power house behind it all.
We were so Free... I will always remember this moment in time with Joy and also Heartache.. Dancing is such a healing and freeing thing, you can even dance in your mind.. you enter another world.. and meet fellow hearts and minds..💙🥀
The lucky Americans saw this wonderful show when it was aired. It's a shame that in the UK no channels picked it up at the time because it would have been a sure shot hit on UK TV back then. It's so fantastic to see it now though with Donna just having fun & being herself. Thanks for posting!!
dancing THANK GOD ITS FRIDAY LONG VERSION its the wondefull ectasy swinging, unforgettable disco classic ever of love and kisses, memories timeless. miami flo, usa
Loved Donna Summer! Had her music and this soundtrack! Saw the movie too! Great dancing ! Again ! Love seeing Terri Baginski and Stan Rodarte! Great dancers ! 😊❤️👍👍Joann Orgel also an excellent dancer 👍👍They all were ! 😊
I like Donna Summer music beyond 1978 also (past Love To Love You Baby). In the 1990s or millennium on CD I liked Donna Summer's greatest hits CD well outdoing all this music.
I wonder why the critics slaughtered Thank God its' Friday , the movie? I love multi character movies. I found almost everyone in the movie very funny. It was much more entertaining than a lot of big hit movies of the 1970s. Donna's vocal on Once upon a Time distracts from her brillant lyrics. And also I never got why they couldn't include the whole song here? It wasn't a very long song
The dancer at 3:01 on the video he was also a dancer on Soul Train. He was always moving his arms all round and I think he was better suited for America Bandstand. Wow,those Platform clear heels I need those heels now for my 50th Birthday this Summer.
His name is Myron Montgomery. You have a good memory. He was also in the Bandstand dance contest that summer, but he didn't win. He and his partner Sherry danced to the disco classic, "Come on Dance Dance ' by the Saturday night Band.
Thank you l, internet! I taped this in 1996, but accidentally taped over it. This is a gem. I love Donna, and this era that I sadly missed bc I was born in 1982
@@Jcrash71 I missed out on that era, but I was lucky enough to see her 4 times in concert between 94-2005. I was amazed that her live singing voice was better than in the 70's.
@@DiscoMatty79, Damn... Good one, yeah her voice I feel did get better with age... That young raspy voice killed my ears sometimes back then 😂. When did you become a fan of hers and what's your favourite record of hers?

5:03 mark - was that Karen Lustgarten in that white dress being dipped in the disco hustle round on the Bandstand studio? It looks like Karen. She was the famous dancing instructor lady of disco who wrote "Disco Dancing" and "Touch Dancing" in that year, and seeing that dip, I think her dance partner led her into a death drop extended, which is what Karen calls "hot flashes" - also known as trick steps, dips, drops, lifts in disco partner dance.
This was fun. I just wish they hadn't lit the dance floor so dark at this time. It made it almost impossible to make out the familiar faces, or "regulars" as they were called. 😊
American Band Stand and Soul Train were awesome. Some people would switch between the 2 to watch Both. I mostly watched Soul Train, the dancing was better & more intertaining.
Too much arm swinging back then over that way. The year my older sister taught me how to drive and going to the first school dance 😊 I had a couple of Donna Summer's albums ❤
I think the Brooklyn Dreams used Donna to get on AB, that’s why she kept asking Dick to get on the show to host. But they never made it, except Sudano landed on the “Big” fish The Diva “Donna Summer “. End of story. Now he’s the one in charge of all Donna music archives that were never released.
Well, let's not forget that Bruce co-wrote a lot of Donna's hit songs. He contributed a lot to Donna's musical career. And last but not least: he was the love of her life. So let's give the man some respect, please.
Well, Bruce and Donna were married for 32 yrs and had children together. Bruce was a big part of Donna's late 70s early 80s success. I think you're just jealous
How classy all the men and women were back then!!! Of course Love Donna Summer!!!!!!!!
Way back in 79 Donna was bigger than Cher, Tina, Diana and Barbra combined!
Oh Donna if you only knew how much i miss you!!!😢
I know!!!
Wow I forgot how beautiful Donna Summer was, stunning 💜
There will never be another Donna Summer.
She was Fantastic in anything she did. Just look at her.

They both died the same year. Dick Clark on April 18 and Donna Summer on May 17

That's probably when he permanently became a Soul Train dancer
