I was also 15 years old, good memories of that time. The music, the atmosphere, camaraderie. Quiet and relatively safe time. Sure, the necessary problems with growing up.
Attended an internal school to learn seamanship. 3 years after that I chose to become a marine (Dutch Marine Corps) and stayed this for 8 years.
Of course also good times in the early 70s up to and including 1980.
My children were raised with the music from the mid-60s to the 80s. And do have some idea of how their father feels about the good old days.
I am now a born again Christian, I cherish my youth, but look ahead and look for things from above.
Most music nowadays is vulgar or ambiguous, a pity because it affects our youth so badly.
God Is Good All The Times.

Same here in Canada....I was going to school dances then...we also called them record hops in 1970.. at least in the small town where I was. I remember the song "Up and around the Bend" playing when I arrived at one of these events....it was so exciting and electric...we danced on our own, wild and free with some rock n' roll duets and the waltzes were to die for. "Going steady" still happened, believe it or not...as for me, I was popular enough but didn't have a boyfriend yet...a lot of us junior girls didn't. One of my favourites was the CCR tune, "Long as I Can See the Light....All of the CCR songs were played..."Susie Q" was popular...I preferred "Little Travellin' Band", "Lookin' Out My Back Door" and "Who'll Stop the Rain". We were more innocent and a lot more sure of words like "Love" and "Cherish" in those days tho' the times had been a changin' since the 60's...soon it would all be gone with the wind. So many fond memories of family and friends...seems almost like another world now.

Also, another factoid, this telecast of Saturday, May 30, 1970 was the very last time that Memorial Day was celebrated on the traditional date of May 30(the same applied to the Indianapolis 500 race, which traditionally was held on May 30)on the U.S. federal calendar. 1970 saw the very first change of certain federal holidays being celebrated on any given Monday when Congress changed the law for Memorial Day that year, which went into effect the following year(1971). Later on, Columbus Day(October 12), Washington's Birthday(February 22) and Lincoln's Birthday(February 12) we're also changed in the '80s(Columbus Day) and '90s(Washington's & Lincoln's Birthdays) to the 2nd Monday in October for Columbus Day and the 3rd Monday in February for President's Day, respectively.

I was a senior at Pocono Mountain High in Swiftwater PA! On April 22nd of 1970 was the very first Earth Day and the school let the girls wear jeans since we were going to plant trees. Don’t remember planting any but wow did all of us girls think we were all that with jeans on! It was still the time when we had to wear dresses or skirts and anyone living in the Poconos and going to school understands that we froze our rears off! The majority of us lived a good distance from the school so waiting for our big yellow bus was terrible for the girls. No girl would ever show up wearing pants under our dresses to keep warm because it just wasn’t COOL! Was a great time back then and there was none of the garbage that we see now! Also the year of the first moon 🌝 walk!

Helluva wake up call when we got in Country. Great dancers from Oklahoma. That's where I'm from. Just North of Oklahoma City.😊😁🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲✌👍
