Never had any issues
The best selling car in the world that has been around for over 50 years. Not everyone wants a sports car. The majority of people want a reliable, safe, comfortable car to get from point A to B. Corolla comes in made trims. If you just want a basic car buy the LE. Those looking for a more sportier looking and feeling car, buy the XSE.
As always, spectacular review, Drew! This generation of the Corolla has aged remarkably well. I am also astonished by the amount of standard safety equipment it boasts. As this video proved, the Toyota Corolla still seems to hold its own against its competitors in almost all aspects. I am also really liking the updated front fascia on the 2017 (and newer) Corolla models. Adding a more youthful, athletic, and dramatic design approach. All in all, the Corolla is a pretty solid "go-to" option in the compact sedan class. From one car reviewer to another, keep it up. 👍🏽 DriveAndBeDriven will be STAYING GOLD! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I'm a new Corolla SE owner. Just love the mileage. Averaging 36 combined. I was a full size truck guy and Jeep guy for years. I bought this Corolla for my daughter who gets her license next year. When I do I will love to stick with a great mileage car again. No more huge payments either.
It's a great little Car...they've done a reasonable amount of tweaking since our 2010 Year Model. That 1.8 L4 Engine is very smooth, dependable, and quite easy to work on...ya gotta be a total idiot to kill it. They will last!
My mom just got her 2018 Toyota Corolla standard edition and I love it! Pretty jealous since my car is a 2010 Toyota Corolla and I have to add a new stereo with backup camera
Idk how people can call this car ugly. Maybe because it looks much better in person and this car still gets looks for being a newer model. You won't find headlights or a futuristic body on older models as stunning as this one is for the price point. It's worth the safety features and mileage. I personally find hatchback style cars ugly but that's because I'd prefer my car to have a nice "ass" lol which I do like the look of these models and own a '17 myself. Great investment.
sergio guerrero Go by reliability and good gas mileage. Also take into consideration your body type for comfort. If you're an average sized person a Toyota Camry is the way to go.If price is no object a Lexus ES or GS.
If you want the combination of reliability and great gas, go for the Camry or if you don’t want to spend as much go for the Corolla. If you want a better driving experience with a sportier look and much better interior, go for a Civic. The Civic is also very reliable, but not as reliable as a Corolla or Camry.
I have the SE CVT with premium package. The premium package includes the smart key (push button start), moonroof, upgraded Etunes plus system with Scout GPS and weather floor mats. The SE and XSE have led lights down the side of the bumper which are daytime running lights. As you can see the back is roomy for a compact car. Those last 4 safety features you mentioned are not standard on other auto manufacturers like the Honda Civic. Only on Toyota is it standard on all models/trims

For about 2000 more get the SE ....makes no sense to buy drum brakes....there is a big difference when you need to stop fast or need abs or traction control. ..u will be glad u did
Rear drums really do not do much of anything. One plus, is the last a really long time. You change then less often. We brought the next model down Forester without rear discs and I don’t miss them at all. A Corolla is a pretty basic non sporty car. I’d buy the cheapest one. I’d prefer a base model with a manual, they don’t even offer the L anymore and you need to get the SE if you want a manual now. Annoying.

Steve Franklin yea I have made this argument because I can’t stand cvt transmissions to begin with . They supposedly get 6-8% better but not from my experience driving them . You accelerate more aggressive because of the lack of thottle response , cvt have a delay almost like a rubber band effect . Anyways I’m a fan of the Elantra , it’s nicer , quieter , better features and best warranty out the there . Just my opinion , good review.
Kado Lee uh no you're wrong, elantra has 147 Hp more torque, real automatic transmission, not a hideous cvt, and gets BETTER GAS MILAGE TOO BOOT!! But this car does win the most hideous ugly front end award!!

Lincoln hawk I’m not a fan of cvt they get better fuel economy supposedly , but I disagree with that because of the lack of timing on acceleration , you actually drive harder to get the car to accelerate compared to a normal transmission. Anyways I bought the Elantra , better car in my opinion .
CVT is the transmission not the engine and as long as it's not a CVT from a 06 Honda or Nissan you should be good. Toyota's always made bulletproof cars and the transmissions are no exception.
Scotty Haines I know that , it was a typo lol . Yes you are correct as far Toyota not having any issues with the cvt. I personally don’t care for cvt transmissions , and I’m not a fan of the corolla . I get the reliability standpoint , but if you are keeping the car no more then a 100k 2018 Elantra is a much better car as far as power , options , and value especially with incentives .
@Dolores M why cause one car that used a brand new type of CVT transmission from Toyota got recalled? You're just cherry picking to support your argument.
