Just got a 2020 Toyota Corolla XSE in white , to be honest , i had a 2016 lexus is 350 f sport on a lease , i paid 644 dollars a month for it , decided to go in a cheaper rout because in buying a house , so i decided to go see the toyota , i got it for $23,999 after dealer rebates and then leased it for $327.99 a month for 35 months because toyota paid first month , I've had it for a week now and i totally love it , it is an amazing little car , its not a racing or track car but with all the technology and price i really consider it a great buy. It is a great buy if you want to go from point A to point B... I highly recomend...
I’ve already seen many of these 2020 Corolla models on the road and they look very nice in person. There’s a reason why it’s the best selling car in the world and most reliable. It’s sold in over 150 countries and has been around for over 50 years. Toyota did a great job with the design. It looks modern and clean.
I have a 2016 Honda Civic Touring sedan so I'm Team Honda all the way, but the XSE Corolla sedan is really sharp looking inside and out. The Civic comes with so many variations (coupe, sedan, hatchback, turbo or non-turbo engine, Si, Type-R) whereas the Corolla only has two engines, both non-turbo with lesser horsepower for the sedan and hatchback. Toyota definitely still has a winner with their new Corolla and this will be a big seller over the next few years.

That’s the corolla I want with the JBL system in it! I use to have a Prius with the JBL system in it and let me tell y’all that was the best sounding car audio I have ever heard before!
Jonnie Johnson II my 2010 Prius has the JBL speakers and I can fully agree with you on that!! Reliable as heck too, 362000 miles on it, engine replaced with 162k on it and still running strong! Hybrids and Toyota in general are no joke.
I'm not a fan of the new Toyota I like the 2018-2016 I've owned 3 Toyotas this far. It seems to me the newer corolla are smaller than befure. Always loved the carollas but i wanted to switch to the the rav 4. Almost got the 2019 rav4 but didn't like it, not a fan of the tablets and it looks too masculine with a lot of blind spots. Decided to go with the 2016 rav4 to me its better with only 20,000 miles.
OK so for me Toyota has created a very nice looking compact Sedan. The question is are you getting $28000 worth of Toyota? the answer to that is No.Here's why the Answer will always be Honda. Comparing this vehicle to a comparable Honda Civic touring You get all of the features on this vehicle , a better quality of interior, remote start and an even better warranty in my opinion For almost $1500 or more less then this vehicle. That's my only gripe. Other than that i think that Toyota has made another bulletproof , Well designed vehicle that will attract more youthful buyers in high places.
I walked into that dealership trying not to top 20k because of Beat's response. In result, I just bought mine today for 20k and change (18.5k before taxes and fees). If my previous car wasn't so beat up for trade-in I could've gotten a little lower than 19k, but that is the life of trade-ins. I agree with British, this thing ain't worth 26k let alone 30k. I bought this car remotely for longevity, reliability, and value. It's a nice add on with the modern, slick, trim, and sport look. Also, beefed up a little more with the 2.0L that adds a nice upgrade for performance. Interior and exterior contrast is great. Personally, I felt I got the ballpark value of what I felt the car was worth. I agree with everyone else, I can't see myself paying more than 22k (starting base) for a corolla, but Camry I would.
Is that the only Honda complaint you Toyota fanboys can come up with for every UA-cam Corolla review? I've had zero issues of any sort on my 2016 Civic Touring sedan and I'm sure Honda has taken steps to recall and resolve those 1.5L turbo issues. Meanwhile this new Corolla is very nice, however it has lesser powertrain performance and driving and handling dynamics vs the aforementioned 1.5L turbo (169hp vs 174hp), less interior passenger and storage space, less trunk storage capacity, only single zone front climate vs dual zone in the Civic, no Android Auto connectivity, no power front passenger seat, and lastly the lack of Corolla model options. Which Corolla can outperform the Civic Si or Type-R? Oh that's right, Toyota doesn't a offer a Corolla Civic Si or Type-R slayer in it's lineup. The Civic even offers a 2dr coupe if that tickles your fancy, while the Corolla....(sound of crickets). Even the base 158hp 2.0L non-turbo engine in the Civic LX and Sport has 20 more hp than the base 2.0L 138hp engine in the base Corolla S and L trims. C'mon man, find another weak spot on the Civic to complain about vs the new Corolla. I still see 10 and 15 year old Civics and Corollas on the road every day so they both have long track records for reliability.
That’s the best description I’ve heard of how this transmission works. I test drove the SE with the Premium Plus package which gets it really close in spec to the XSE, at only 25K MSRP, more affordable. I wish that damn Tablet was just a little shorter it really sticks out. At this price point though, I think the Mazda 3 sedan or the Jetta GLI are more fun to drive. It’s hard to beat Toyota when it comes to reliability though. Tough call.
Why did Toyota go to a cheaper door handle on the inside? On the previous model, it was a metal handle which I think is better than the 2020 Corolla. Toyota uses "softex" leather
All of the lights are LED's actually except for the rear turn signals and reverse lights. The rest are LED bulbs, but not a typical LED light cluster. They are similar to just replacing bulbs with aftermarket LED's.
Love your input throughout the car. Only thing you left out is the change in the gear lever. All you said is that it "feels good." I was hoping for a reason why they change from maze like pattern to the button in front to put it in gear. I use to love the Toyota shifters because they were easy for disabled drivers. By the way, I'm disabled and unable to squeeze the trigger on the knob to put the car in gear. Many car companies are switching to that and soon I'll have a hard time driving anything. Push button gear selectors are the best!
It’s ridiculous how much these cars cost I have the 50th anniversary version of this vehicle in white I love it it’s a great car but everyone’s absolutely right the amount of money for a Toyota is ridiculous I’ll stick with what I have
what better options? if you look at the features this corolla has, its difficult to find anything in that price bracket, you have to look to german luxury cars which cost twice as much

Fake This Crap i kinda agree but then again the reliability and the resale value toyota vehicles have also with a very low cost maintenance which they are known for as well, so i believe it wont seem much as a good kept car in future will return a handsome amount of money while being sold or getting traded in, and i can tell ya that with personal experience the 2017 Rav4 LE AWD i owned almost had 80k miles on it with moderate wear and tear on the exterior was still able to produce good trade in value almost 3 weeks ago when i traded it in for a brand new highlander 2019 se nightshade edition.
@@glasswings21 yea I know about reliability of Toyota but if it's going for almost $30,000 for a sedan then it has to be better than that I personally have and only owned Toyotas because of the fact its cheap and reliable. But if it's going to go up in price then it has to have a better package than this at most I'll buy it for $25,000 but near $30,000 Nahh I'll pass on it
Fake This Crap but again you do realize that the base price for 2020 toyota corolla is not $30K right? So as we all know the average fully loaded versions of any make with their respective models are usually higher because the more options installed to them means more money it would be.
@@buildmorefarms1007 The models based on the NEW platform(MQB) which the new Jetta is built on, has got good reviews. And the next MK8 is something to look for. I drove the GLI last week, it drove real nice and it picks up quickly. I do agree Toyota and Honda scores much higher in reliability, I just wished the Corolla had more power.
I love Toyota, and my last 1.8 '94 actually died on me at 500 hundred thousand miles, but I can't see what warrants 28 Grand for this vehicle, even with the cvt and leather, it should be 21, 000 thousand at the most. And, I haven't met anyone as of yet, that uses those paddle shifters.
@Richard Favreau well, the price difference defeats the slightly better fuel economy. I can't argue that's it's more powerful but for me it's not that big of a deal. I just need a cheap reliable car that gets me around safely and that's the L or Le for me.
Bought the Forte EX Launch Edition 3 weeks ago, and I love it. The interior of the Corolla totally killed it for me, I can't stand the dash, and the lack of any storage space is awful. The Forte looks sharp, and has all the tech and safety you could want.
@@mituljariwala9821 yep some are still falling into the cheaper deal. They find out later unfortunately. KIA plays a good game with trying to one up on features but they're cutting cost with hidden quality issues and resale value that goes down fast.
I like your reviews, very laid back and thorough... So, I'm looking at the Corolla and Jetta, your thoughts on comparison? The Jetta is leaning me the warranty is great, roomy and the trunk is great... Not a fan of cvt...Toyota has the reliability... ugh lol
It definitely isn't the best but it combines all. A little bit of sportiness, comfort and I feel this Corolla looks good and as good as the Mazda 3. To me it makes the Civic look so bad. But now I streamlined my list to Mazda 3 and the Corolla and I picked the Corolla cos it just felt a lil bigger than the Mazda 3. Personal opinion,.
@@kingvolt8694 it was just my choice. Had a Mazda 3 for a rent and it felt so tight in it and the screen position was just weird for me. But that is just my choice. Cheers

As Toyota treats the Corolla as a entry level car, it doesn't have some features that it's competitors do such as Dual zone air, heated steering wheel or intermittent/automatic wipers. I don't know why Toyota omits those features, yets put them in their bigger cars.
Always have and will continue to think that corollas are some of the ugliest compacts out there. For 28 thousand (decked out I know), I would definitely spend my money on something else. I think Mazda and Honda will always be a step ahead in terms of looks, and thank god they are starting to change the looks of some cars though. The 2019 RAV4 is a great look imo (like let's be honest here, it was pretty bad before), and the 2018 Camry refresh is nice, but not as good as some other sedans out there. They do have that reliability factor that they can fall back on, so people don't mind the look as much though which is nice for Toyota. I definitely think they are a great brand which is why I am looking into the 2019 RAV4 Hybrid as one of my options among others right now.
Moe Anthony In no way am I saying a Chevrolet is better than a Toyota but at least the take the time to design an interior with a screen rather than just plugging on a tablet which is way cheaper... st.motortrend.com/uploads/sites/5/2016/06/2016-Chevrolet-Cruze-Premier-interior.jpg
28,000 for a basic car is crazy. You can buy a used Cadillac ATS or even a used BMW 3 series that gets 250hp from a turbo 4 or 300hp from a V6 with rear wheel drive or all wheel drive and paddle shifters... For the same money you can get a used car that is seriously fun. If you don’t care about having fun driving you could get a used Chrysler 300c loaded with cooled seats and cup holders that cool your drink. 28K for a Corolla is madness. It’s a boring, no fun car.
@@CocoTaveras8975 you're right about their reliability and that they're easy to fix, but fun to drive? Not in the slightest. I had a Corolla rental and it was one of the most dull and cheapest feeling cars I've ever driven. In my opinion there are much better options for that price
Hagop Demirjian the civic is hands down the most fun to drive in the economy compact segment. I just think this new Corolla is too floaty and too cheap on the inside

Esteban the price isn’t expensive but it’s expensive for that type of car you can get a new Audi for that or an alfa Romeo it’s just crazy that Toyota really tried it

@@glasswings21 yea that's why I'm saying that the xse if I recall
Fake This Crap yeah you’re right those sports editions are very steep.
For $2,000 less I can get a VW Jetta GLI with 2.0 Turbo and 230 HP, 260 TQ and roomier.
True but let's face facts, VW is not know for reliability, Toyota is.
@@buildmorefarms1007
The models based on the NEW platform(MQB) which the new Jetta is built on, has got good reviews. And the next MK8 is something to look for.
I drove the GLI last week, it drove real nice and it picks up quickly.
I do agree Toyota and Honda scores much higher in reliability, I just wished the Corolla had more power.
@@BenHayatVolkswagen were never reliable cars. Turbo... c'mon that engine ain't going to last
Yeah and a few services after, that money is enough to buy a new car.
Have a silver 2020 se love it
Getting an L or LE is a much much much better decision.
@Richard Favreau well, the price difference defeats the slightly better fuel economy. I can't argue that's it's more powerful but for me it's not that big of a deal. I just need a cheap reliable car that gets me around safely and that's the L or Le for me.
Nope the L & LE aren’t as nice or have enough speed lol
Bought the Forte EX Launch Edition 3 weeks ago, and I love it. The interior of the Corolla totally killed it for me, I can't stand the dash, and the lack of any storage space is awful. The Forte looks sharp, and has all the tech and safety you could want.
Good luck with resale value, btw if you didnt know, it's going to be attracious
@@mituljariwala9821 yep some are still falling into the cheaper deal. They find out later unfortunately. KIA plays a good game with trying to one up on features but they're cutting cost with hidden quality issues and resale value that goes down fast.
im a white male, but wish I had your hair man, legit cool.
it feels strange to watch a review video of a literal clone of the car sitting in my garage (minus that tx plate)
I love my se i just got it two weeks ago
I owned a 2015 corolla want to upgrade to this but price is high.... I’m thinking getting a 2019 Civic sport 7K cheaper
the spider was watching the news of the Corolla. And apparently he loved it said: I brought it to my home this is not given every day🕸️👋🕷️
I like your reviews, very laid back and thorough... So, I'm looking at the Corolla and Jetta, your thoughts on comparison? The Jetta is leaning me the warranty is great, roomy and the trunk is great... Not a fan of cvt...Toyota has the reliability... ugh lol
This is completely my opinion, but I would go with the Toyota just because of the legacy of reliablity
Rather get the 2019 honda accord...... for that price
No it dosen't go it self
This is the most have nest review I have watched
It definitely isn't the best but it combines all. A little bit of sportiness, comfort and I feel this Corolla looks good and as good as the Mazda 3. To me it makes the Civic look so bad. But now I streamlined my list to Mazda 3 and the Corolla and I picked the Corolla cos it just felt a lil bigger than the Mazda 3. Personal opinion,.
Mazda 3 outclasses this in most categories cmon
SANTAMU3RTE idk how this person picked the Corolla lol
@@kingvolt8694 it was just my choice. Had a Mazda 3 for a rent and it felt so tight in it and the screen position was just weird for me. But that is just my choice. Cheers
@@SANTAMU3RTE it all comes down to preference.
@@alwaysiyi272 I test drove the 2020 corolla and road noise along with not sporty enough was the reason I chose the mazda. I guess it doesnt feel like a tight fit since I'm only 5'9. Congrats on the car however. Cheers
By the way, the turn signals on the mirrors are in fact LED’s!
As Toyota treats the Corolla as a entry level car, it doesn't have some features that it's competitors do such as Dual zone air, heated steering wheel or intermittent/automatic wipers. I don't know why Toyota omits those features, yets put them in their bigger cars.
Is that spider feature 😎
I would love to have the Corolla LE Hybrid with a CVT AND the real first gear like in the XSE.
How did you get this 2020 corolla in 2019 ?? 😕😕😞😞😞
Ha ha be thinking that every time
I have a Hyundai elantra and I'd pick it over this anyday game features great gas mileage better priced
Same price as the 2019 Mazda 3. Well i have 30k, which should i get? Anyone?
Honda Civic Hatchback.
Rvssian Boii I drove the 2019 mazda 3 and its amazing. When did you get your 2018 3?
House
Toyota’s too me are waste of money, rather have something actually worth driving
Bmw M3 e46 drive one. i like bmws but toyota’s are actually fun to drive now.
06 bmw e60 lol your funny
Bmw M3 e46 am i? you need to get in a camry v6 before you judge.
Goregous looking new Corolla sedan
The rear seat is a little more cramped then the older model Corolla
toyota 2020 in 2019? srsly? 11:51 - manual mode in a CVT transmission? Rly????
Do you think the Mazda 3 sedan has a similar size back seat or is it larger?
That giant tablet sticking up is brutal. I cant believe people buy this car.
I agree to disagree
It would be nice if they had the led turn signals
$30k for a Corolla? 😂😂😂
Hagop Demirjian Good for your money, as all Toyota’s are. They are extremely reliable, easy to fix and fun to drive. Real question is why not?
@@CocoTaveras8975 you're right about their reliability and that they're easy to fix, but fun to drive? Not in the slightest. I had a Corolla rental and it was one of the most dull and cheapest feeling cars I've ever driven. In my opinion there are much better options for that price
Rather get an Elantra Sport and still save almost 4 grand.
Hagop Demirjian the civic is hands down the most fun to drive in the economy compact segment. I just think this new Corolla is too floaty and too cheap on the inside
@@Alex-bd5dz It's a tough call between the Civic and the Mazda 3
Looks nice to be honest
2020 se 6speed with a sunroof got it for 20,050 brand new
Richard Favreau no taxes was about $2050
Richard Favreau no problems at all. Are u planing on getting one? It’s a fun little car but they do suck in high winds
The front turn signals are LED
For all those who think Mazda have the same reliability as Toyota?! You’re wrong! Toyota will always come out strong after 200k miles!
Pharaoh Mazda’s reliability has improved dramatically. Look at rankings. They even look better than Toyota’s
@@kingvolt8694 your right mazdas and toyotas are built in the same factory and assembly line
Just got rid of my CHR and the top trim level was $25,000 smh
Please review XLE!
Do you even know your own vehicle? The only lights that aren't LED are the rear turning signals. The front turning signals are...and so are the side.
Side view mirrors shifted on doors same like Honda civic 2006 and Honda City 2002 the back of the car also looks like few old cars manufactured in decade ago and the front bumper grill isn't impressive also this car isn't looks better by looks comparing the 2016 model.
CVT...for god's sake, I would like to buy a Camry SE instead.
Subaru Impreza sport
I have one corolla 2020 se it's best car in world. Autopilot, and i hawe corolla 1984 and 2008 2020
U forgot to show autopilot it self drive
Wow that's really lame they wouldn't let you keep the LEDs on. If that car were mine. I'll just do what I do with my Lexus and keep my led projector and led fog lights on lol.. this is such a downgrade to last models leds constantly being on.
Lol @4:46
The price is hilarious who on earth would pay that for that car
CHRITHH that’s why you aren’t buying it. Cars are getting expensive now a days. Plus the tariffs wars are also effecting price.
Esteban the price isn’t expensive but it’s expensive for that type of car you can get a new Audi for that or an alfa Romeo it’s just crazy that Toyota really tried it
CHRITHH An alpha Romeo for 30k?? Must be a shitty or really old model 🤨
The 2018 model front bumper is better.
Moonroof is very bad. It takes about 2 inches of height. Not for a tall driver.
