exposed. Thousands of Indian Seafarers
cheated in last 10 Years.
So how do they do it?
1)There are few Indians who have established
homes in Sarawak, Malaysia. They have lot of
illegal agents who use social media to contact
fresher Seafarers. They charge anything
between INR 1.5 Lakh to INR 3 Lakh per
Employment.
2)Once Seafarer accepts to pay money, he is
given vessel name. These illegal agents having
no office and working from mobile phone, have
tie up with RPSL (Recruitment and Placement
Service License) companies who upload some
papers in DG Shipping e-governance. Flight
from Jaipur to Kuala Lumpur and then to Miri or
Sibu or Kuci
3)Once you are in Sibu, Malaysia, agents keep
you locked in houses. Your Visa will expire in 7
days. But they will give you ship after 5-6
months stay in room in Malaysia. Since many
Seafarers get food and wifi, they don't
complain thinking they are getting seatime
because DG Shipping form 1 has ship details.

4)Be careful as DG Shipping now is
investigating all Sea time acquired illegally and
you can be banned for 5 years for having wrong
Seatime. This racket is going on from year
2011 and DG Shipping has been informed few
times. Below news has appeared in
newspapers.

alleged that after getting Rs 7 each, the men
were sent for training in Varanasi, named Sea
International Maritime Academy, for three
months and was then sent to Secunderabad.
